3. HISTORY OF WORKSHOP
• Foundation : Maharaja Ganga Singh on 18th
March,1925
• Location: Outskirt of Bikaner town known as Lalgarh
• Plant started: 1st March,1927
• Total area: 141226 meter sq.
• Machinery in plant:232
• Track inside plant:2.6 km
4. PERIODIC-OVERHAULING
Periodic-overhauling(POH): It is a process of
18 days during which checking &
repairing/replacement of train’s parts take
place.
Time Period Of POH:
Mail/Express train: POH after 12 months
Passenger Train : POH after 18 months
5. Procedures of POH
1 day : Disassembly of electrical components
2 day : Lift/Lowering & stripping
3 day : Body repair
4 day : Carpenter work
5 day : Painting
1 day : Electrical component fitting
1 day : Adjustment of all parts
1 day : Vaccum testing
6. Electrical shop
Power supply to work shop & Electric parts are repairs
in electric shop
• Supply taken from the 33kv gss and supply the work shop
through 11 kv .
• 3 Φ/440volt supply given to the all shops in work shop
• Incase of any fault in supply through the 11 kv supply
system generator is used to supply shops
• And reparing of batterys ,charging of batterys ,reparing of
fans ,alternators etc.
7. MAJOR EQUIPMENT OF ELECTRIC SHOP
• majorEquipment of electric shop
• 11 kv supply from substation
• Generator
• Battery& charging system
• Alternator
• Rectifire cum regulator
• Fluorescent Tube Light
• Fans
• Emergency Feed Terminals etc.
•
8. Generator
• Max speed of generatoe 1500rpm
• Generating capacity 40kw
• Oil Tank capacity 100 gallon
• Supplying 3 phase
9. Battery& charging unit
• 24volt battery are used in meter gauge
trains and 110 volt battery are used brode
gauge trains
• Thyrister rectifire charger are used for
charging battery.
• Max charging time for
Charging is 48 hrs
10. Alternator
• It is used for charging battery during train running
period.max speed of alternator is1850rpm.but for
charging it need max speed of 22kmph.it is
coupled between the two wheels.
• Induction type Alternators used in non AC coaches
are 4.5KW/37.5A/120V DC.18KW 2 unit in parallel
with RRU ,battery, brush less alternators are used on
AC coaches.
• The brushless alternator with the help of static
rectifier cum regulator unit is capable of developing
voltage from minimum speed to maximum speed.
12. RECTIFIRE CUM REGULATOR
• Battery and Battery Charging Terminals
• The output of the RRU is given to battery box to
charge the battery .
• In a non AC coaches a battery box consist of 18 cells(6V/120Ah
each) ,In AC coaches 2 battery box 56 cells(2V/1100Ah each)
used.
• BCT is provided for external charging of the batteries at stations
or maintenance lines.
• Used Battery in train is VRLA (Valve Regulated Lead Acid) types
advantages -
• Topping up with water is not required.
• Periodical checking of specific gravity is not required.
• Regular maintenance to avoid sulphation of terminals and
connections not required
14. FLUORESCENT TUBE LIGHT
• It is a 2 feet long,18 Watt fluorescent tube
light provided in the coach for the sitting
gallery light and 11watt for toilet light.
• It works at 110V DC supply.
• It gives good light with 30% and 70% power
supply.
•
15. Fans
• INDIAN RAILWAY USED 400MM AND 300 MM BRUSH LESS DIRECT
CURRENT MOTER (BLDC) FANS OPERATED BY 110V DC IN THE
COACHES.
• SPECIFICATION :32W, BWARING USED 6200NO.
• FAN CONSIST OF FNN CAB, SENCER MAGNET, ROTOR MAGNET, PCB,
STARTING WAINDING.
• FAN INSULATION ON RESISTANCE IS NOT LESS THEN 2MOMH .IT
CHEAKED BY MEGGER IN RAINY SEASON RESISTANCE SHOULD BE
1MOMH
16. EMERGENCY FEED TERMINALS
• It is provided at the both end of the coach to
feed the additional supply to the adjacent
coach in case of emergency.
• Supply from the healthy coach may be
extended to him/dark coach by connecting
wire(1.5x2 meter) for supply to the positive
and negative terminals of the EFT.
•
