2. OUR TRACK
The track we have chosen to use for our music video is “Atlantis”
originally sang by Seafret, we have chosen this due to the easy tempo
to work with, it also has all 3 aspects of a typical song, it has versus, a
chorus and a bridge. The lyrics of the song itself allow us to be very
experimental with the narrative and offer a lot of diversity as to where
we want to take the song.
3. INSPIRATIONS
The inspiration for our video came from many other indie genre music videos such
as George Ezra, Jamie Lawson and Frank Turner all share the same styled sound and
imagery with their music and videos. As a group we enjoyed the warm sepia filters cast
over the videos of our inspirational artists and because if this we felt that we could pull
off a video that could take these qualities and turn them into something incredibly
effective. We like the Frank Turner video “The Way I Tend To Be” due to the sepia filter,
the love story narrative and the location choice of a counrtyside.
4. OUR BAND
We have decided to name our band “The Peninsula” the name is
short snappy and sticks in the head very easy which is very ideal for
recognition ad gaining a identity. The Peninsula is an indie band that
could be easily compared to the likes of “Amber run” “Saint
Raymond” and “This Wild Life”.
5. TARGET AUDIENCE
The target audience for our band is 16-24 year olds, at this age
many are leaving school and heading for university, one of the main
ways to communicate and socialise at this point in life is to share
interest in music due to meeting new people. The indie genre is ever
popular at this point in life as everyone is thriving to be unique.
6. IDEAS FOR VIDEO
We have mapped out our ideas as a group for the video and have come to the
conclusion that the lyrics used can offer us the opportunity to use a lot of visual to
lyrical links (for example “the birds have left the trees”). Another idea that we had
was to use a male and female as our actors during the filming with them alternating
verses/ choruses but not being seen together until right at the end where they are
stood side by side and eventually depart in separate directions. The song talks about
a broken relationship and we feel that the words can be portrayed from both sides
of the relationship so having the male and female within the video should end up
being very effective.
7. THE CAMPAIGN
This style of music quite often focus on artist imagery. Due to being of the
indie genre it means that the artists face(s) is not seen on a daily basis on TV or the
Internet and because of this they are normally seem on the cover of albums,
posters and magazine adverts. To link all of our products throughout the campaign
we will either use the same image or different images but from the same photoshoot
across different platforms therefore providing them with visual links. Another
method that we wish to use in order to strongly link products is a strong sense of
typography. This will then mean that when out audience see the font used by our
artist they won’t need to read the text in order to know it’s in association with them.
8. POSSIBLE PROBLEMS
There are many problems that we could face along the journey, some
more serious than others. For example, we may find that the quality or
amount of filming that we do for the music video is not enough to give
off a strong and successful product. If this is the case then we will have
to make sure that we can get back out on location and film more clips
from different angles therefore providing us with adequate footage. A
smaller problem we may have is down to the actors we choose. When
deciding who will pose as the artist within the video we need to take into
consideration their confidence. If the actor/ actress can’t carry out a
believable approach to the video then when it comes to the editing stages
and then finalising the footage the video will look awkward and
unprofessional.
