1. How old are you?
14-16
17-19
20-22
23+
The people I asked for my questionnaire
were all my target audience, expect one
person I asked was aged 17-19, and the
majority were 14-16. This is exactly the
target audience I am trying to appeal to,
and therefore why I asked people of this
age and the reason for this is to get the
results from my target audience and what
they think about my magazine.
2. What gender are you?
Female
Male
All the people I asked were females,
as I wanted to gain the responses
from a females perspective. The
target audience is females hence
why I asked only females. I asked a
range of different ethnicities, but
mostly white females as this is my
target audience is majority white
British females.
3. What genre do you think my magazine is?
Rock
Rap
Hip-Hop
Pop
Country
Everyone who I asked to fill out my
questionnaire, without telling them what
genre my magazine was, circled the right
genre. This tells me that my magazine is
easy to recognise that it is a pop magazine.
This may be because of the images,
masthead or colour scheme.
4. What age do you think my target audience
is?
12-16 years old
17-21 years old
22-26 years old
27+
Everyone who filled out my questionnaire chose
the right age for the target audience. This tells
me that the type of language used, the colours
and the age of the models gives away the age
that I am aiming to appeal to.
5. What ethnic group do you think my
magazine is suited to?
Asian
White British
Other
The majority of the answers for my
questionnaire said that my magazine is
suited to White British, which is the target
audience. One person said that the ethnic
group it is suited to is Asian, this suggests
that the Asian model on my cover gives away
the other ethnic group I am also trying to
appeal to. The fact that one person said
another ethnic group other than white
British means that the diversity is there for
my magazine to appeal to others.
6. Is my colour scheme continuous and
does it represent the genre?
Yes
No
My colour scheme is continuous
according to the audience feedback,
which means that after more than one
issue of the magazine, it will create a
brand identity and then become a
recognisable feature when looking at
magazines on a shelf.
7. Does my masthead stand out?
Yes
No
Everyone I asked, said that the masthead does
stand out, this means it will be easy to identify
and see, as this is a first issue the masthead
needs to stand out to create a brand identity.
8. Do you think that my magazine would stand
out amongst magaines of the same genre
and why?
Yes
No
All those I asked said that my magazine would
stand out, which is a good thing as I want my
magazine to appear different to other of the
same kind, this will also help make mine unique
and for the consumer to buy mine over others of
the same genre.
9. Is my contents page informative and do you
think it would appeal to my target audience?
Yes
No
Everyone I asked to complete my questionnaire said
that it was informative and would appeal to the
target audience. This is good because it means the
contents page has enough detail and as I tried to
make the words the minimal they could be, as my
target audience is young, it is still informative.
10. Is the style of my article suited to the target
audience and why?
Yes
No
I asked this question because when deciding
which type of article to do, between one
long piece of text or a question and answer
style. I chose to do a Q&A style as this would
make it easier and more simple for my target
audience to read. All the responses were
yes, that it does suit my target audience and
this means the simplicity and ease to follow
the Q&A is best for my target audience.
11. Do you think that I have used a range of
images and models across all three pages?
Yes
No
Don't know
When doing my magazine, I made sure to use
a range of images and models on my magazine
this makes it more visually appealing to read.
All the answers were that I had used a range of
images and models, and this was what I
intended.
12. Which page is your favourite?
Front cover
Contents Pg
Double Pg Spread
I asked which page was my favourite because it
would be interesting to see which was the
best. It was a tie between the front cover page,
the contents page and the double page spread
had only one vote. This may be as the double
page spread has a lot of text.
13. Do you think that celebrity names on the
front cover are representative of the pop
genre?
Yes
No
Don't know
I asked this question because I chose celebrities
that are current in the charts and/or famous
and well known in the pop genre. I wanted to
use famous celebrities in order to maximise the
appeal to the target audience.
14. Conclusion
• My magazine does everything I wanted it to do and
intended it to, this suggests I have completed my aims
and as the questionnaires have confirmed who they
think the target audience is and what kind of magazine
it is. I have found out that the favourite page is the
cover page and the contents page. I have also found
out that the masthead stands out and my magazine
would stand out on a shelf with others of the same
genre. Also the style of my magazine is the best for my
target audience as it is simple. I made sure to use my
target audience for the audience research (the
questionnaire and focus group) this means that I can
get a result from my actual audience and their opinion
on my magazine.
