1. Equipment Used
For filming we used a tripod to stabilise and
elevate our camera. A tripod was crucial in the
creation of our opening sequence as without
there would have been unprofessional shaky
shots which would have been detrimental to our
sequence. The tripod also had a mechanism on it
which allowed us to rotate the camera smoothly
whilst filming. This feature aided us greatly for the
moving canted angle shot that was included in the
sequence.
To film the shots for
our opening sequence
we used a Cisco Flip
Camera. This piece of
equipment was very
simple to use as you
simply pressed record
and filmed the shots
which would
automatically save.
The camera
automatically
adjusted for exposure
and focus which again
made it very user
friendly.
The bulk of work for creating the opening
sequence and carrying out the research
that led up to it was done on an IMac
computer. Before starting this task I had
not had that much experience with IMacs
and so I learnt a great deal. Firstly I learnt
about how to use safari properly to be
able to do all of my research. I also learnt
lots of the key commands for the IMac
that I hadn’t known before so I was able
to use screen grabs etc…Once we had
filmed all the shots for the opening
sequence we began to use some of the
programmes loaded on the IMacs.
2. Once we filmed the shots we
imported them into IMovie
and ordered the shots we did
need whilst deleting the
unnecessary shots into this
area of the programme.
Programmes Used :
IMovie
Once the shots had been organised we
began to edit them. Editing on IMovie was
probably the biggest learning curve for me
as I had not done it before but after getting
to grips with the settings and tools e.g clip
trimmer we adjusted speed, length,
brightness, exposure, saturation and
contrast to our clips as well as putting
certain video effects on top of the clips.
Once the editing on the
individual clips had be done
we included transitions to go
between the clips to bring the
whole sequence together,
this was key for our sequence
as we chose to do a montage
sequence and so we really
needed to get rid of straight
cuts in between clips to give
more of a dream/memory
effect hence why we used
cross dissolves a lot of the
time.
3. Programmes Used: Garage Band
For the music in our opening sequence we imported individuals
sounds from freesound.org and then imported them onto Garage
Band which we then edited and layered together to create the effect
we wanted.
Imported clips on the
timeline in Garage
Band.
4. Once we
figured out
what
text/image
we wanted
to use it
would come
up in this
section.
As we found
out the main
concept to
LiveType was
layering tracks
of animation.
Here is where
you placed
the layered
tracks.
Programmes Used: LiveType
To create our company ident and the main title of our film we used the
programme LiveType. Using LiveType was one of the harder programmes to
try and figure out how to use due to the sheer vastness of its settings
capability. There was a lot you could play around with and thus a lot to
learn how to use.
For how the titles
entered the screen
we had to choose
out of a list of
settings which was
located here.
5. Programmes Used:
Photoshop
A key element in changing
the photo was also putting
different filters on the
image which we found
from here.
Before creating our company ident we first had to choose an image from
google which was not copyrighted and then manipulate the image to our
liking. To do this we used Photoshop to change the colours of the image
to make the knight figure become a silhouette, change the background
from blue to yellow and emphasise the sunburst feature in the bottom
left hand corner of the image.
6. Other Sites Used
I used slide share to be able to
embed power points onto my
mahara blog.
I used YouTube to share my
opening sequence with
others and also to share my
storyboard created on
IMovie.
We used freesound to acquire
un-copyrighted sounds to layer
and edit on garage band.
I used dafont to use uncopyrighted fonts to
import onto the IMac
which we then were
able to use as the font
for the titles in our
opening sequence.
I used prezi to display a different
form of presentation for task 3 in
my evaluation.
I used MoodShare
to create a mood
board/collage on a
member of my
target audience.
I used Bubbl.us
to create mind
maps for a
variant of tasks.
