Kainaat Mirza discusses their experience filming and producing an opening title sequence for a project. They were able to use advanced cameras and software that they had not used before. This included using focus settings on the camera, steady shots from a tripod, and a unique perspective from attaching a gorilla pod to a railing. Soft box lighting equipment and editing software like Final Cut Pro X helped them add effects and refine the project. Sound was also created using GarageBand to complement one of the scenes.

The Art Pastor's Guide to Sabbath | Steve ThomasonSteve Thomason
What is the purpose of the Sabbath Law in the Torah. It is interesting to compare how the context of the law shifts from Exodus to Deuteronomy. Who gets to rest, and why?
This is a presentation by Dada Robert in a Your Skill Boost masterclass organised by the Excellence Foundation for South Sudan (EFSS) on Saturday, the 25th and Sunday, the 26th of May 2024.
He discussed the concept of quality improvement, emphasizing its applicability to various aspects of life, including personal, project, and program improvements. He defined quality as doing the right thing at the right time in the right way to achieve the best possible results and discussed the concept of the "gap" between what we know and what we do, and how this gap represents the areas we need to improve. He explained the scientific approach to quality improvement, which involves systematic performance analysis, testing and learning, and implementing change ideas. He also highlighted the importance of client focus and a team approach to quality improvement.
2024.06.01 Introducing a competency framework for languag learning materials ...Sandy Millin
http://sandymillin.wordpress.com/iateflwebinar2024
Published classroom materials form the basis of syllabuses, drive teacher professional development, and have a potentially huge influence on learners, teachers and education systems. All teachers also create their own materials, whether a few sentences on a blackboard, a highly-structured fully-realised online course, or anything in between. Despite this, the knowledge and skills needed to create effective language learning materials are rarely part of teacher training, and are mostly learnt by trial and error.
Knowledge and skills frameworks, generally called competency frameworks, for ELT teachers, trainers and managers have existed for a few years now. However, until I created one for my MA dissertation, there wasn’t one drawing together what we need to know and do to be able to effectively produce language learning materials.
This webinar will introduce you to my framework, highlighting the key competencies I identified from my research. It will also show how anybody involved in language teaching (any language, not just English!), teacher training, managing schools or developing language learning materials can benefit from using the framework.

Operation “Blue Star” is the only event in the history of Independent India where the state went into war with its own people. Even after about 40 years it is not clear if it was culmination of states anger over people of the region, a political game of power or start of dictatorial chapter in the democratic setup.
The people of Punjab felt alienated from main stream due to denial of their just demands during a long democratic struggle since independence. As it happen all over the word, it led to militant struggle with great loss of lives of military, police and civilian personnel. Killing of Indira Gandhi and massacre of innocent Sikhs in Delhi and other India cities was also associated with this movement.

2. From the beginning of our filming process we
hadn’t been able to get our hands on much
technology, or use any of the many
different varieties of software. But when we
had been told about our opening title
sequence we were asked to create, we were
able to use the more advanced camera, and
all the different software.
3. This is similar to the camera
we had used in our filming.
This camera was amazing to
use with its HD recording,
easy-to-use and very
lightweight structure. The best
thing I found about using this
camera was the fact you could
use the focus settings, which
fit very well with our opening
title sequence. Another great
thing was that it was very
simple to use so we didn’t
struggle with it.
4. We had previously used
a tripod in our filming
we had done for the
preliminary task, so we
knew how to work
around a tripod. One of
the best things about
using these was how
steady the shots were
when we had used it to
film the opening title
sequence.
5. We had used a gorilla
pod which was something
new for us to use. We
had used this to film one
of our scenes in the
opening title sequence,
this was when we had
stuck the gorilla pod to
the railing on the ceiling
and it gave a birds-eye
view of what the
character was doing in
our film, just like a CCTV
camera.
6. We hadn’t came across
these soft box lighting
equipment before our
work for our opening
title sequence. These
were very handy as
when we were inside and
we needed to have scenes
with a lot of light, we
were able to use these as
provided by the college.
These helped us create
many great shots for our
opening title sequence.
7. When we had finished filming we
were introduced once again to the
amazing software that we use to
edit the films we make. Final Cut
Pro X was great to use to edit
many of our different shots. We
used it to add many special effects,
to be able to add a great continuity
to our film and also change lighting.
This software was easy to use once
you had gotten used to it. The
great thing about it is that it
showed you a timeline of all the
scenes in which you could change
anything from sound to light
balances. This worked great for our
group.
8. Once we had finished all the editing using
Final Cut Pro X, we had decided to
create some sound to fit in well with one
of our scenes. To create this sound we
had decided to use Garage band which is
an application on the iMac’s. It allows
you to create sound with a use of many
different instruments, You can use pre-
existing templates to help you start off
or you could even start a new project
which is what our group had done. After
sampling with the different sounds we
were creating, in the end we had
created a very professional sound which
fit very well for the scene.
