Knowing that land is a taonga (treasure) to Māori people, it made me think about the negative
impact it had on them due to not being able to have a control over their own land and gradually
losing their language, culture, and spirituality due to colonisation.
Throughout the reading, the writer listed multiple examples supported with other researches about
the systematic dispossession of Māori land (Wynyard, 2017) which helped me understood and grasp

My topic that I will be discussing is the treaty of Waitangi / Te Titiri o Waitangi. Throughout this
essay I will give an outline of the history and reasons for the signing of Te Tiriti o Waitangi and
briefly discuss the significant differences between the Māori and English translations. Then I will
show understanding of the ways in which the treaty was breached and provide two examples. I will
also provide evidence showing the relationship between these breaches and the effect they have

In the early 1800s New Zealand was an independent Māori–controlled nation, in 1839; Captain
William Hobson was given the job of bringing sovereignty to the land of New Zealand. The crown
wanted to take part in the growing trade within New Zealand. There were many British missionaries
working and living in New Zealand as residents already. Māori and early visitors did not often get
on. A lot of violence flared up because of alcohol and women as some of the British men who had

1) I chose the Declaration of the Independence of New Zealand because of it has great significance.
New Zealand declared its independency from the United Kingdom on the 28th of October 1835 in
Waitangi. It was James Busby, with the help of missionary Henry Williams and William Colenso,
who then prepared a statement to give the northern Maori chiefs to sign after there were rumours
that the United States or France were thinking of claiming New Zealand as their own. The

INTRODUCTION
The objective of this paper is to apply the knowledge learned in class by studying the leadership
characteristics and styles of a leader and what contributed to his/her successes and failures.
In my case I have chosen Jack Ma, founder and executive chairman of Alibaba Group. He has
become one of the most influential businessmen and is a global example of leadership. However, his
road to success was not easy. He had to overcome failure in several occasions and work hard to
build his own company and become an influential and powerful global leader.
The first thing that will be covered in this paper is his biography. This will help to understand what

What influenced these paintings? Would these same messages translate through time if the paintings
swapped places in history? Fine art is more than just paint on canvas. Historical events, social,
educational and physical experiences of the artist season their work and influence the way the artist
transcribes messages to the viewer, influencing their ability to receive those messages. Two oil
paintings containing the same subject matter can be incredibly similar and yet different in the
influence they have on the viewer. C.F. Goldie's 'Ena Te Papatahi' (1902) and S. Minson's 'Effulgent
Self' (2009) are two such paintings. Both contain realistic portraits of a Maori woman, but painted
over 100 years apart are interpreted very differently by audiences in their time.

act(updated April 2016), consumer protection act and treaty of Waitangi, and how these act

Whenua is the Māori term for land, it also refers to placenta (notion of birth). Land was and still is

Tuvo sus inicios en 3000 a J.C. donde en esa generación el ábaco es considerado el más antiguo
aparato de cálculo el cual se utilizaba para realizar cálculos de cualquier magnitud, el cual aún se
usa en muchos lugares de Asia.

donde se construyó la primera máquina para calcular que fue diseñada por el Alemán Wilhelm a
pesar q a este hombre corresponde la invención de la primera calculadora pero la historia indica que
Pascal fue su inventor.
1642: fue donde se lanzó la Pas calina la primera calculadora mecánica que es conocida hasta
nuestros días esta era una maquina basada en ruedas dentadas cuya rotación completa de una de
ellas hacia girar a la siguiente rueda la cual solo se podía realizar sumas y restas.
1671–1694: Gottfried Leibniz diseña una calculadora universal en ese mismo año, esta máquina
universal de cálculo tuvo q pasar muchas modificaciones hasta conseguir un ideoso mecanismo para
que su máquina realizara además de sumar y restas tenía la capacidad de realizar multiplicaciones,
divisiones y raíz cuadradas a este mecanismo se lo bautizo con el nombre de rueda escalada de
Leibniz dando así por terminada en 1694 tras haber obtenido modelos de Pascal y Samuel Morland.

Abstract: Alibaba has become the largest online commerce company in the world in just a few years
and barely anyone expected it to be so successful. It has provided numerous business opportunities
for small and medium enterprises to leverage the innovative technology to compete more efficiently
domestically and globally. This study discusses the marketing strategies, promotion, distribution
channels and some important lessons that were carried out by Jack Ma to achieve success in this
world of online trading.
Introduction: Alibaba Group Holding Limited is a Chinese e–commerce company that provides
consumer–to–consumer, business–to–consumer and business–to–businesssales services via web
portals. It also provides electronic payment services, a shopping search engine and data–centric
cloud computing services. The group began in 1999 when Jack Ma founded the website
Alibaba.com, a business–to–business portal to connect Chinese manufacturers with overseas buyers.
In 2012, two of Alibaba's portals handled 1.1 trillion yuan ($170 billion) in sales. The company
primarily operates in the People's Republic of China (PRC), and at closing time, on the date of its
initial public offering (IPO), 19 September 2014, Alibaba 's market value was measured as US$231
billion. However, the stock has traded down and market cap was $145 billion at the end of
September 2015.

Education Should Be A Reflection Of The Context
According to the New Zealand Curriculum (Ministry of Education [MOE], 2007), education should
be a reflection of the context, which caters to all students regardless of background, ability and
gender to create a diverse learner that is provided with equal opportunity to succeed. However, if we
reflect on the history of education, it has favored one culture over the other. Statistics is a testimony
to this as it shows us 35 percent of Maori gained NCEA level 3 qualification or above in comparison
to 57 percent of non–Maori who gained NCEA level 3 qualification or above (MOE, 2009). As of
June 30 2012, statistics show that 51 percent of all prisoners were of Maori ethnicity (New Zealand
Statistics, 2012). In 2014 it was revealed that Maori had the second highest unemployment rate
(New Zealand Statistics, 2014). In order to understand the meaning of these statistics one must look
at the history of New Zealand education and ask thought provoking questions such as why is there a
disparity of achievement between Maori and non–Maori? What happens to those who fall through
the cracks of education? How have Maori come to be 'at risk'?
This essay will attempt to answer these questions by looking at the important changes in the
education system and how they affected Maori education. These influential changes include the
introduction of schooling systems such as 1867 Native Schools and the establishment of the 1877
Education Act. I will then look at the effects of assimilation
