Flixpicks Website Analysis
Context FlixPicks is a website that will allow users to organize and discuss movies and tv. After
creating a profile, each user compiles and rates their personal list of media that they have watched or
are currently watching. One s profile provides viewing statistics and can be used to track progress
through a series. Through continued use, the user will be able to see trends in their viewing habits. In
addition to personal organization, FlixPicks provides numerous ways to socialize. Users can add each
other as friends which allows them to recommend new media or discuss what they have both seen.
Additionally, each piece of content, such as a particular television episode, has an associated forum.

Therefore, in the case where The Movie DB s service is interrupted FlixPicks service would also be
interrupted. Mitigation Strategy: It is not likely that The Movie DB will go down. However, if it does,
there is not much we can do, because the database will be so integrated into our system. We think the
simplest solution will be to detect the error in their system and present the user with a fail screen. Lack
of knowledge about system vulnerabilities: As a team we are not well versed in vulnerabilities. This
could lead to problems during the development process in which we do not account for important
security risks. Mitigation Strategy: To mitigate this risk we will do research on possible vulnerabilities
and how to fix them before we begin the project. We will then utilize those strategies in our project
plan. Lack of knowledge about technologies: Although as a team we have some experience doing web
development from classes, none of us have ever worked on a large web project. We are also going to
use ReactJS, a frontend library, that no one on the team has used before. This could slow down the
development process as we learn new technologies and could lead to organizational issues in the

Human Nature In Lord Of The Flies Character Analysis
Andrew Sink

Raw Human Nature
In the novel Lord of The Flies by William Golding, a plane crashes on an island and a group of young
English boys are forced to fend for themselves as well as each other in hope of rescue. In this novel
Golding makes several comments on the tendencies of man when in the absence of a social structure.
Throughout the book, Golding tells the reader about human nature. When humans completely give in
to human nature, chaos erupts. Through the use of the fire, the beast, and Piggy s glasses William
Golding shows how human nature slowly pulls away from civilization when there is no social
structure.
One way that Golding conveys his message about human nature is with the fire and its smoke. In a
sense, the fire is an indicator of the civilization level of the boys. Towards the beginning of the story,
Ralph works very hard at keeping up the fire. The other boys help him because they want to be
rescued as well. They want the fire to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
From the very beginning of the novel it s obvious that Piggy s glasses are important. They are a
symbol of power. Piggy s glasses hold within them the power of fire. Power is something craved by
most people on the island, especially Jack. This craving is due to the tendencies of human nature.
Ralph uses Piggy s specs so he can make his signal fires, but when Jack breaks away and forms his
own tribe. He steals Piggy s glasses so he can have fire for cooking his meat. The spectacles have the
power to save them all from the island, such as Ralph s signal fires, or destroy them all, such as Jack
creating a forest fire in an attempt to kill Ralph. Ralph tries to use the spectacles to get rescued and
Jack tries to use the spectacles to kill Ralph and gain power. The craving for power drives both sides,
which is one of the main tendencies of human nature that Golding talks

What Is The Purpose Of Illuminati
I believe the majority of you don t have knowledge about what illuminati stands for, others might
know what it symbolize but they ve never gone too deep into the subject to really understand its
purpose and how it works. I am going to start off by introducing you all to the basic definition of
illuminati.
Illuminati is a secret society of the world s most powerful and wealthiest citizens. Its ultimate goal is
to control the world and to build one big society full of Illuminists. We are ruled by it, we are
manipulated into believing what they want us to believe, into voting who they want to be the next
leader, into being what they want us to be. Illuminati isn t just this group of loaded ... Show more

Other (often more talented) musicians follow up on that trend and create their own version of the new
idea. Those musicians can be ordinary people like you and me, who have never been close to
Governmental Mind Control. Those musicians (and actors) don t have to be severely mind controlled
to unknowingly help out with the Agenda of the Elite. They just jump on the same train and the
snowball effect is starting. Thus, the Illuminati, who started the trend, can sit back and watch. We, the
citizens, are doing the rest for them.
5. Other gifted musicians and actors, who are creating art that goes outside the Agenda or against it
have no chance to get their message out broadly, because nobody at the top of the Industry (where the
money is) is willing to promote them. The International Bankers (The Illuminati) are the ones who
own the Industry. As soon as someone is creating something (may be music, a new label with contrary
ideas or something similar) that opposes what is next on the Agenda, the Illuminati is quick to buy it
out. If the Company refuses to sell, they are threatened. We all have seen Mafia Movies. This is the
way it is but on different

The Future For Trade Unions
1. The future for trade unions Trade unions have played a crucial role in developing a democratic
society in terms of monitoring and enforcement in the areas of wages and employment conditions.
(Landau et al 2014, ????) It has been argued that the Industrial Commission gave Australia both
political and competitive advantage and provided both members and non members, significant
workplace gains throughout most of the 20th century. (Ref) Whilst not formally united with the
Australian Labour Party (ALP), the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) has sustained close
association with it. The ACTU has played a critical role in Australian politics. Bob Hawke was
president of the ACTU from 1970 to 1980, and went on to become labour prime minister from 1983 to
1991. The establishment of Australia s Industrial Relations Reform Act in 1993, which was intended
to streamline the collective bargaining process, largely resulted in a decline in ACTU membership.
(Ref) In 2006, the Howard governments WorkChoices laws came in to effect. Employees saw this as
opportunity to remove unfair dismissal protection, while reducing employee entitlement, removing the
independent industrial arbitrator and ultimately weakening trade union muscle. (Wilson Spies Butcher
2011) In 2006 07, a critical movement came with the ACTU s Your rights at work campaign. The
campaigns objective was to build enough opposition to WorkChoices in order to defeat the
government during the 2007 election. It

Protruism In America
When I was born my family lived in Romania and after some years moved to Ohio, Japan, Texas, and
finally I have stayed in S. Korea for ten years now. Where my society or what culture I follow is hard
to determine, but my nationality is U.S., so I will concentrate on the American society. Pro social and
altruism are important all over the world. People tend to fight, but being pro social and being altruistic
form connections with people and allow us to view each other in a better light. In America, I believe
pro social behavior and altruism is important because everyone in the society are so different, and it
creates a point of similarity as well as charitability.
Pro social behavior and altruism are reinforced by natural biological and American

The Theory Of The Constructivist Theory
1) Constructivism is a form of learning which is driven by the theory that humans are able to generate
knowledge from the interaction between their experiences and their ideas(1). This makes the student
actively involved in the process of synthesising meaning and knowledge. It is argued that the
constructivist approach inculcates critical thinking from the extrapolation of the student s prior
knowledge and actively engaging the student in this way is much more effective than passive learning
through acquiring knowledge in a lecture(2) Also, this form of learning can be done in a collaboration
of students(3) Below are discussed some of the main types of constructivist theories. One of the
principle theoretical constructs used in medical education is known as Problem Based learning (PBL).
This form of learning starts with an educator forms and presents a number of carefully constructed
problems to a small group of students(4). The problems presented here are typically based on events
of which the students have some prior knowledge of. This prior knowledge is discussed within the
class and from this, questions are asked related to the problems presented. Following this, time is
granted in which the students go away to conduct individual research on the new information which
they have acquired. The students then return to their class, in which they spend one to

ABSTRACT
Consumer segmentation in the wine industry takes on many forms: demographic, geographic,
behavioral, and others+ In the United States, one of the most promising new demographic segments is
the
Millennial or Echo Boomer segment, which is being targeted by many consumer industries due to its
size and buying power+ For the wine industry, this group currently fits ... Show more content on

geographic, which is based on where the customer lives, such as country or city; ~2! demographic,
which is based on age, gender, income, social class, and so on; ~3! psychographic, which is based on
lifestyle and personality; and ~4! behavioral, which is based on occasions, benefits, usage rate,
readiness to purchase stage, and so on+ ~ Zikmund, 1999!+
In the wine industry, some of the most extensive research on market segmentation has come from
Australia+ One of the premiere studies was that of McKinna, in which he focused on the geographic
segment of consumers in the South Australian wine industry, and then was able to divide this
consumer grouping more specifically into a psychographic segmentation based on five wine lifestyles
~ McKinna, 1986!+ This research was further expanded upon and empirically validated by a cadre of
other wine marketing researchers ~ Bruwer, Li, Reid, 2001; Hall Winchester, 1999; Johnson,
Ringham,
Jurd, 1991; Spawton, 1991a!+ The most recent empirical findings using this lifestyle segmentation
suggest that the following five consumer segments are confirmed in

Persuasive Essay On Bioprinting
Bioengineering has been a growing field over the past few years. The new advances and research that
result from bioengineer can solve problems deemed impossible before. Engineers have been working
on new technology that utilizes stem cells to treat disease and save lives. The stem cells used in
treatment are called embryonic stem cells. Embryonic stem cells are formed from five day old human
embryos. The usage of embryonic stem cells has caused controversy from pro life advocates who
believe embryos to be a human life; and the use of embryonic stem cells immoral. Despite the beliefs

My Life Flight Nurse Is Not A Smoke Jumper
As we grow up, we change our careers at least once, maybe twice or even three times before we
realize what we want to be. When I was little, I was fascinated with being a speech and language
pathologist but then I grew a little taller and discovered smoke jumping. And up until my senior year
in high school I wanted to be a smoke jumper. But by the end of my senior year, I finally found my
career; a life flight nurse. Having a strict schedule, great job security, being people oriented, and
having an independent job are the things I look for most when I m looking at career options. I want a
schedule where I can easily have an idea of what hours I will be working before the schedule is
printed. I am also looking for great job security in the fact that if I am going to be going to school, I
want to be able to do it once and be very good at it. I don t want to have to switch through jobs
because my current career isn t holding out based on the world. I like helping people and I want to be
able to save the ones I can. I am a very independent person and I would like to do a job where I have
my own independent time where I can take control and learn from my own mistakes, but because I am
also people oriented, I also would like to have a select few co works that I can touch base with to
make sure I am on the right track with my thinking.
Life flight nurses need to be able to evaluate patients needs as well as be able to provide them with
proper medical care and treatment until

Business, Sustainability And The Natural Environment
Business, Sustainability and the Natural Environment, Daniel Katz During the past 25 years,
awareness of the environment has increased tremendously. Non profit organizations look beyond
institutional goals, and instead, try to find a shared vision that works for everyone in the society. Our
society needs to stop consuming as if we have an infinite planet; we have to have integrity for the
world we live in because the natural resources that have been sustaining us will not last forever.
Companies need to evolve with the modern age and changing consumer market. For example, Netflix
never thought they would produce their own shows, however, with the changing consumer market,
they have done just that. Also, NGO s sometimes have to partner with bigger for profit companies in
order to target a larger consumer base, thus, solidifying the fact that the for profit and non profit sector
have to team together in order to sustain the environment in which we inhabit. Business, Sustainability
and Poverty, Jacqueline Novogratz This plenary begins by stating that a financial crisis occurs when
people in the markets do not trust each other. Trust is what makes a society fair. Corruption flourishes
upon weaknesses in economic, political, and social institutions, and this diverts economic growth by
eroding the quality of public goods. In this age, income equality has increased across countries due to
globalization and technology; however, income inequality within countries has increased as

Using Breaking Free Of Old Ways Of Thinking Outside The Box
Thinking outside the box is a common idiom used to express the idea of breaking free of old ways of
thinking. In a real sense, the walls of the box are the borders of our thoughts. Moving past those
barriers is considered not only a good thing, but a necessary thing. Yet this is not only about travel. I
could have stayed in my home country to study, but I chose instead to bet on myself and apply
internationally. As a result I was offered a full paid scholarship. And took this opportunity to place
myself as far from my comfort zone. I wanted to not just think outside the box, but exist entirely
outside of it.
Saudi Arabia, where I am from, has one of the largest economy in the Arab world. And its fast
growing economy allows it to be a solid ground for many investing activities. I grew up in a family
business that really provided the core of my belief in business and in ones ability to grow and operate
important businesses that can compete and be successful.
I think I ve inherited my passion for learning besides the insatiable curiosity which has served me well
throughout my childhood, school years and academic career from my father, an international
businessman. He taught me to explore the world, constantly seeking to learn more, and to make an
effort to understand more. I watched him for hours as he worked on his meetings, and I also helped
him with contracts, presentations, and marketing proposals growing up. I was fascinated by business
and wanted to know how and

Body Art Workplace
Is body art a workplace issue? Does having a visible tattoo say anything about an individual that is
relevant to his or her job? I feel that these things shouldn t even be a concern. Tattoos and pricings are
just a way to express oneself. Tattoos and piercings shouldn t be a reason for questioning a person s
responsibility or productivity in a job setting. Tattoos are a form of expressing oneself, everyone
should be able to express themselves however they want. Tattoos are just art that is on your body
everyone has the right to express themselves anyway that they want. Getting tattoos and piercings,
sometimes make a person feel more like themselves and should not be considered as a reason to not

Tattoos and piercings don t show how hard working you are, they don t show how responsible you are,
they don t show how dependable you are. Tattoos and piercings show creativity and confidence. I m
just a really normal, sensitive kind of go about my business everyday kinda guy. People see the
tattoos, and they either read things or they see things and they don t really know that I m just this guy
that gets up and makes coffee in the morning and hangs out with his friends and walks his dog and
reads his Bible and goes about his day. Said Joel Madden. Tattoos and piercings don t directly
represent any qualities that employers are looking for. You can t base your entire judgment of a person
off of what they put on their body or how many piercings they have on their body. It s like saying just
because this guy is wearing rings means he is too sensitive for the job because typically women wear
rings not men. I know that tattoos used to be related to violence, drugs, and gangs. But we live in a
different world now. One where people get tattoos to remember important times in their lives. Time
that helped shape them into the people they are today. Tattoos have gained wider social acceptance and
more and more people, men and women alike, have them (All Business). Today tattoos can just be just
connected to gangs and violence. Today almost everyone has them. So if employers want to be able to
hire the best employee they better rethink discrimination against tattoos because a study found that
between the ages 18 29 about 40% of people have tattoos (Statistic Brain). Just because people have
tattoos doesn t mean that they are slackers and are not hard workers. My fathers has about six or seven

human being. He works at the Nursing home in Lennox. He cares for the elderly people by feeding

The Media s Influence On The Perception Of Media And...
Very few viewers of adverts decode images passively. Marita Sturken and Lisa Cartwright argue that
there are very few viewers who decode images passively because there is no mass culture. This is
because each viewer has different contexts and social backgrounds meaning that the images they view
can be decoded in various ways because of their frame of reference and background. However the
subject of how audiences decode and view media including advertising can be seen in various
different perspectives particularly with Karl Marx and Louis Althusser who have similar but different
theories around audiences as passive and active parts of the decoding process. Through Stuart Hall
also we can understand the different ways audiences can receive a advert.
Sturken and Cartwright s theory of audiences focuses on the idea that everyone has their own
background and frame of reference that determines how they decode an image (57). In advertising this
theory is vital in understanding how audiences perceive images and understanding the effects and
success of advertising on different people around the world. A part of this surrounds the identity of the
viewer and the relevant context of the advert. For example, the Steinlager Pure advert which depicts
the nuclear free image of New Zealand (Steinlager Pure). How this advert is received will depend on
who views it. New Zealanders will have a direct connection to the advert due to its setting and context
around the identity of New Zealand

Romeo And Juliet Love
Ever since Romeo and Juliet was written, people have debated whether it was written to be a love
story or a tragedy. The play is centered around a romantic relationship, which may cause some to
believe it to be a love story. However, Romeo and Juliet show tragic themes as well as themes of love.
This play can be considered both, but even so, it shows more elements of being a tragedy than a love
story. In the just prologue alone, the play establishes the fate of our main characters, Romeo and Juliet.
The sentences, A pair of star cross d lovers take their life;/Whose misadventured piteous

Monologue In Our Town
Thornton Wilder, a Wisconsin native, is the writer of the Pulitzer Prize winner play Our Town. In Our
Town, Wilder tells the story of a town in Grover s Corners, New Hampshire, and the daily lives of the
inhabitants. In the play, the author uses minimal props and scenery as well as including a main
character known as the Stage Manager that has the ability to break the fourth wall, allowing him to
talk to the audience. This factor of talking to the audience is a major component of making the public
a part of the town. Throughout the play, there are many instances in which the Stage Manager uses
various cues as well as dialogues to incorporate the audience and develop an intimate relationship to
create a true sense of our town . Initially, one of the most notable instances in which the Stage Manger

Most notably, the dialogue after the end of every act in which he refers to them and lets them know
that it is the end of the act and prompts the audience to do as they please during their breaks. One of
the occasions in which this can be seen is at the end of Act I. The Stage Manager lets the audience
know that that is the end of the first act and prompts them to go and smoke, for those that do smoke
(Wilder 46). Alternatively, Wilder uses this same technique at the end of Act II and Act III in which
the Stage Manager announces a ten minute intermission and wishes the audience a good night.
Similarly, the play does a great job of incorporating the audience into the message being delivered.
Haberman explains that life should be done with one idea at mind which is that life can stop whenever
it is least expected, and therefore should be lived in a much better way (29). The idea is presented
most prominently within the third act of the play and portrays and important aspect in the overall

All the time and hard work spent had to pay off for something. I was also determined to beat my
biggest rival on the team. She wouldn t hesitate to smear my face in it if she got a faster time than me.
We stepped up to the 200 meter starting line and I tried to push the nervous thoughts out of my head. It
felt like butterflies were bouncing off the walls of my stomach. We got into the start position and our
coach began counting down from 5. It was only 5 seconds but it felt like an eternity. The four of us
took off in unison and I could tell I was going to have to give this race everything I had. There was no
way I was going to let the others defeat me. I heard the pounding of my feet against the track as I ran
the curve. That s when I realized I was already in front of the rest and I began sprinting with every
ounce of energy I had left. There were nearly 100 meters to the finish line and my legs were moving
so fast it felt as if I was flying. I kept thinking about how much I had been working towards this and
how I would not let myself down. Bolting through the finish line I could tell that was one of the best
races I ve ever run. My lungs felt heavy, legs aching from exhaustion and my eyes were watering from
the frigid wind. As my coach was recording my time on his clipboard he revealed how many seconds
faster I had been. Not only had I beaten my own personal best, but I had gotten the fastest sub varsity
time.

Examples Of Feminism In Trifles
A woman is human. She is not better, wiser, stronger, more intelligent, more creative, or more
responsible than a man. Likewise, she is never less. Equality is a given. A woman is human (Nazarian,
V., The Perpetual Calendar of Inspiration.). Today in most of the countries, many people think just like
this quote, or have similar opinion about the gender equality. However this was not a normal thing
back in the 1880s, when Susan Glaspell, the writer of the play Trifles, lived. The society back then
followed male dominated society, and many thought that male had more values than female. Susan
Glaspell, as a writer, opposed to this flow, and included many feminist features in her play. The play
Trifles, by Susan Glaspell, reflects a strong feminist ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
They were the broken birdcage, dead canary, and wildly stitched quilt. The quilt symbolises the bad
mental condition of Mrs. Wright, the birdcage symbolises her broken heart, and the canary symbolises
herself. First of all, Mrs. Wright was alone for long period of time, because her husband did not let her
go out, and also Mrs. Hale choose not to visit her. This made her mentally tired, and caused her to buy
a canary to fill up her loneliness. However, Mr. Wright seems to not like the bird at all, and killed it by
twisting its head. This action of Mr. Wright became the final blow for Mrs. Wright, and her heart
broke. This is expressed by the broken birdcage. Mrs. Wright decided to kill her husband in the same
way he killed the canary, which is choking him with rope. The historical background have connection
to this, because Mrs. Wright was one example of female who could not get rid of the male dominated
society. Susan Glaspell might have wrote this play to show the irony of the male dominated society.
The male dominated society (Mr. Wright) that killed all enjoyable thing in Mrs. Wright was killed by
her at the last. The play might be open ended, because if Susan wrote the specific murder, that might
have disappointed someone, and the play might not have been played at the first place. Through this
play, Susan wanted to show audiences that how ridiculous the male dominated society is, and this is
one of the points that shows the feminist aspects in this

The Character Brett Ashley in Ernest Hemingway s The Sun Also Rises
There is a common perception among casual readers who hasn t heard it voiced? that Ernest
Hemingway did not respect women. The purpose of this essay is to examine one work in such a way
as to challenge these heinous assumptions. Hemingway s persona will be left alone. What will be
examined is the role of women, as evidenced by Brett Ashley in The Sun Also Rises, and what, if
anything, it reveals in the way of settling this account of Hemingway as misogynist.
Brett Ashley enjoys a unique position of power in the novel in today s vernacular, she wears the pants
in all her relationships. The feminist perspective, no doubt, will find this true, but rapidly move ...

His love is unconditional.
Mike, nor Robert Cohn, nor the former Lord Ashley loved her unconditionally. They had Brett
wrapped in all types of chains. It is against this regressive mind set that Brett fights. They all want to
own her. But, not Jake. And Jake as narrator is Hemingway s nearest relative. Jake s voice is hardly
distinguishable from Hemingway s own. Given that, I d say the author invented an arch type of
modern man in Jake Barnes. Jake is the friend you can count on. He s the guy, who if he were alive
today, would memorize Bly and bang drums in the woods under a full moon. He s sensitive.
Speaking of sensitive, what is the reader to make of Jake s faulty machinery? The feminist in me
screams, That s the only reason Jake acts the way he does, because he s been neutered in war. Excuse
the graphic nature of this, but Jake is still a man with two hands and a tongue. Having children never
enters into the equation. Brett s no Mommy. In other words, I reject the notion that Jake is less a man
for his injury. He is, it fact, a better man.
The Sun Also Rises is a seminal work from a writer at the peak of his skills. Hemingway, like his
narrator, Jake Barnes, does the work of a journalist. The novel serves as a field report for the societal
changes brought on by the Great War. The role of women in the culture was very much on the minds
of thinking people. It was on Hemingway s mind, and he wrote about it eloquently throughout his

The Characteristics Of The Puggle
A recently developed, increasingly popular designer dog breed, the Puggle gains lots of new fans
every day, thanks to its adorable appearance and playful nature. These dogs are particularly
compatible with children. If you have young kids and want to find a dog that they can spend hours
with, the Puggle is ideal. This breed can also get along with older people, but tends to prefer the like
minded, fun loving nature of younger humans. The Puggle also easily makes friends with other dogs
and is simply an easygoing animal. These dogs are conveniently small in stature and can come in a
huge range of colors and forms. This variety is a common attribute of crossbreeds, as each individual
pup s appearance will depend on his parents.
Even the snout of the Puggle can vary in length and size. Pugs traditionally have short snouts which
cause breathing problems; some Puggles will be fortunate enough to inherit a more ... Show more

This trait is usually inherited from the Beagle side of the parentage and can be a bit of an obstacle for
training. Owners need to be firm but fair with a Puggle, using plenty of rewards and variation to
encourage the dog to learn and obey. With a bit of time and patience, it s perfectly possible to train a
very obedient and well behaved Puggle. Early socialization will also greatly help this dog to learn
more about people and other animals.
Puggles get along well with other dogs and don t tend to take much interest in cats or other animals.
This means that they can usually be quite safely introduced to homes that contain other pets, but
human supervision is still recommended to begin with. It also needs to be emphasized that Puggles
need attention. If they are left alone or ignored, these dogs can become sad and bored. This sort of
miserable mood can make the dog indulge in destructive behavior or develop certain bad habits like
barking and digging.

The Controversy Of Animal Experimentation
Animal testing is also known as animal experimentation is the act of testing drugs, chemicals,
cosmetics and acid on animals such as; dogs, cats, rats, mice, ferrets, hamsters and monkeys for many
purposes. Today I will be focusing on cosmetics. Cosmetic companies create makeup, lipstick,
foundation, blush, highlighters etc. All of these products are tested on animals before use on humans
and I believe that this is wrong and should be banned in all countries.
Firstly, animals have been tested on for the past decades. According to P.E.T.A (peta.org 2015

ferrets, hamsters and monkeys are killed in U.S Laboratories for many reasons including ... Show

A human body and an animal body are not the same. According to the HSI (Humane Society
International), different species react differently to different chemicals and powders used in cosmetics
and what an animal might experience or react to is not the same as a human. This proves that animal
testing is unreliable and wasteful. Animal testing is also very expensive. The US National Institute of
Health spends about $14 billion out of its $31 billion budget on animal testing and research proving to
be very costly and inefficient for research or production in other areas.
Many people might say that animal testing has proven results for the safety of beauty products and
cosmetics. Although, in some cases it is helpful, why would you want to use such an old outdated
method of research in 2017 many more methods have opened up due to advanced technology. Animal
testing dates back to the 1900 s and yet in the 21st century companies are still doing this even though
it is more costly than alternative methods.
In conclusion, animal testing is unreliable, expensive and inhumane to our beloved animals around the
world. I believe that governments should fully ban animal testing. Earth was created for all us, not

Using Implicit And Explicit Self Esteem
First Article
Problem:
The problem the authors are addressing is the reason correlations of implicit and explicit self esteem is
lower in Chinese culture versus western culture (Yu, Chen, Zhang, and Jin, 2015). The authors
suggested the problem has not been clearly defined and researched and this was their motivation in
researching this topic. They wanted a clearer understanding as to why implicit and explicit self esteem
is lower in Chinese cultures versus western cultures. The authors were successful in articulating the
problem with the gap in the literature. The authors defined and discussed in detail collectivists and
individualists (Yu et. Al., 2015), and how it plays a role in self esteem. The authors suggested people
with a more individualistic background obtain a larger amount of self awareness than people with a
collectivism background (Yu et. Al., 2015). This is due to the fact that collectivism focuses on the
outside world, whereas individualism focuses on one s self. In the article a hypothesis was clearly
defined. The authors defined their hypothesis as the following, ...we hypothesize that individualism
would moderate the relationship between implicit self esteem and explicit self esteem, but
collectivism would not , as stated by Yu, Chen, Zhang, and Jin, 2015.
Methodology:
The authors used 100 participants from undergraduate studies from three different colleges, in medium

is to gain the assent or adherence of the audience to a claim. (Sanders 2006). Drawing on Martin s

To date, courtroom argumentation studies have become a meeting point for scholars from forensics,
linguistics, psychology and many other disciplines. Generally speaking, in line with Aristotle s
argumentation theory (2007), which emphasises on the trichotomy of logic, dialectic and rhetoric,
there are three distinguished approaches to courtroom argumentation studies: the logical, the
dialogical and the rhetorical. The logical approach sees arguments as the product of the activity of
arguing; the dialectical approach takes argumentation as a procedure consisting of strategic
movements by a proponent and an opponent; the rhetorical approach considers argumentation as a

The Japanese Cultures And Beliefs Of Japan
Due to its unique history, Japan has many customs and beliefs that differ from the rest of the world.
The Japanese are known to be very prideful yet, humble individuals. Many of the Japan s traditions
are very distinct and serve to represent the country. Japanese culture is meant to depict respect for both
themselves and other people.
Perhaps one of the most interesting symbols of the Japan comes from the flag, the red sun symbolizes
the sun goddess Amaterasu, which is believed to be the ancestors of the emperors and the imperial
family. More specifically Mythological goddess of the sun, Amaterasu from the Shinto religion.
According to myth, the goddess founded Japan approximately 2700 years ago and all the emperors of
Japan are known as Sons of the Sun , essentially direct descendants of the goddess herself. (Aung) this
is intriguing as Shinto is a religion that focuses on the belief that all people are good and all the bad
come from evil spirits. Even more captivating is that historically, Japan has been a militaristic country

family are descendants of a great deity must have bonded the citizens into feeling an intense bond that
cannot be found in any other way. Hand gestures are an important method of communication and to

Argumentative Pop Culture
Argument essay
Pop culture is fascinating. Whether it be a popular new movie or an album by an artist, there is always
something in store for everyone to love about it. RuPaul once said, The point about pop culture is that
so much of it is borrowed. There s very little that s brand new. Instead, creativity today is a kind of
shopping process picking up on and sampling things from the world around you, things you grew up
with. What he means by this is that ideas have been reused throughout music, movies, shows, novels,
etc. over time. Nowadays it is a rarity to find anything original as many ideas are recycled or
borrowed.
Music is a unique way of expressing one s self, though ideas can become recycled and borrowed by
other artists. These days, a particularly older person could hear a newly released song and find the
music to be familiar. An artist can simply borrow the music from an older song and then incorporate it
into a new song of their own. Many artists and songwriters nowadays use this technique in their own
music. Say an older person was to hear the smash hit Shape of You by songwriter and singer Ed
Sheeran. They would hear a song that they once treasured from their days in the club. The song No
Scrubs by a high selling music trio of the 1990 s, called TLC, once wrote a song that contains that
same music. This is a perfect representation of the idea of reused music.
Most of the time, the artist to reuse the music should always have the permission to do so. There is
such thing as music plagiarism, which is just what one may think it means, stealing music without
permission from the copyright owner. Music can also sound so similar that people would believe that
there is some kind of relation to another track. A website called Consequenceofsound.net suggests that
there have been plenty of music plagiarism cases in the history of music. Cases that slipped away
easily, cases that became so serious that they involved court, and even more serious cases resulting in
the deletion of the song overall. Coldplay has always been a top selling artist throughout the years,
with some of the most popular songs within the past decade. The 2008 smash hit called Viva La Vida
does contain backtracks from Joe

The Brewing Business Is Extremely Competitive
The brewing business is extremely competitive. As lager has advanced into fully grown category, the
industry has encountered an escalation in mergers and acquisitions, product differentiation and global
strategy. Overall 650 beers compete across the nations in this category, the top 10 defraying over
$22M annually (Taylor 2004). The market is dominated by the giant 10 brands that form up 77% of
the market. The top 20 occupy 87% which leaves Tiger and its 0.1% SOV to battle against the
remaining 620 premium beers for 13% of the market. Included in this last 13% are power house global
brands like Heineken Export, Corona, Stella Artois and Becks (Taylor 2004).
Competitive insight: World acclaimed Asian beer highlight on the quality of beer.
Insight explanation: Focusing on Asian market, Beer is predominantly a Western cultural import and
Singapore is not known as a beer brewing nation and hence, the beer needs validation from the West
to be seen as a greater beer (Jacky 2008). And the brand needs to be strongly identified with its
category. It must be seen as the category leader. It must be seen as the brand that defines a category.
But the common denominator is that Tiger Beer is a lager beer. Jacky (2008) comprehends that while
breaking down the process of how Tiger Beer s customers look at the beer, you will probably find that
Tiger Beer is an award winning Asian lager beer that is enjoyed by all around the world .

Textual Analysis Of The Crucible
Textual Analysis The Crucible The text which I have chosen to analyse is from the play The Crucible
by Arthur Miller, just looking at Act One of this play. In Act One the scene opens in Reverend Parris s
house, in the year of 1692; the scene focuses on Betty being ill in bed and laying limp , showing the
powerful forces, they believe to be witchcraft has overcome her. This extract highlights the importance
of the themes that are throughout the play and the ideas of townspeople s lives in Salem, in which the
characters portray. This play is set in a theocratic society, where the church and the state are one, and
where the religion is strict and shapes their beliefs. Within this Act the narrator describes Salem town
as having a strict Puritan way of life with an outlook on the rest of the world as one of parochial
snobbery . One of the most important themes to look at in The Crucible is hysteria. The hysteria is
tearing the Salem community apart, it creates people s fear of their neighbours and they believe that
friends and even family are committing unbelievable crimes of witchcraft and communicating with the
devil. To highlight the theme of hysteria we can see how Tituba is [terrified] and [falls to her knees];
in which she is full of hysteria when questioned by Hale by breaking down and confesses to being a
witch, though earlier denying practicing witchcraft. Hysteria rises as everyone begins to blame each
other, and with Abigail shouting accusations at Tituba that

Religion, Religion And Mythology
If religion is a mythology, then is a mythology a religion? Well, Religion and mythology may seem
like too different things, but yet they still do overlap on some aspects. Both talk about a system that
has a high importance to many people. Religion is based an organized collection of beliefs, culture,
and perspectives, that s spread around the world. While, mythology is referred to a collection of myths
which is told by a group of people. This is used to explain nature, history, or customs!
Personally I believe in Islam, the religion. In Islam we believe that god (Allah) is the creator and
sustainer of every living thing. We believe that god created the world, universe and the heavens, just
like many other religions. Also, the founder of Islam is Muhammad; to Muslims he is Allah s prophet. I
believe that Islam is different than mythology because myths don t have a known founder. They were
just passed down through generations until someone decided to write them down. Unlike Islam,
Native American mythology believes that the world was created by a crane. Natives mostly use
animals as the center of their mythologies. Also, the natives believe. God made some men of mud, but
they were very soft and limp and couldn t see. They could speak, but what they said didn t make
sense. When they got wet they couldn t even stand up. God saw that they were of no use so he broke
them up. Muslims also believe that humans are made of clay, the devils made of fire, and the angles

Justice In The Oresteia
In Aeschylus tragic trilogy The Oresteia, Aeschylus writes about a fundamental question in
philosophy. What is the nature of justice? In his plays, starting with Agamemnon, the Achaeans slowly
emerge and evolve from an older, more primitive autocratic form of justice, to a new concept of
justice devised by Athena. The trilogy culminates in hung jury trial, and eventually Orestes absolution.
The jury trial at the end of The Furies implies that justice is arbitrary, must include deliberation, and is
more than an eye for an eye.
In ancient Greece law of retaliation was similar to the eye for an eye concept. Because Clytemnestra
killed their father, it was only fair for Orestes to kill her. This is idea is imposed in the final play of the

The problem with revenge is that it never ends. Instead, revenge leads to more revenge, and it is
mentioned, towards the end of The Furies, as especially dangerous for civic order. The Furies
represent a more primordial sense of justice, which Athena is intent on changing. Aeschylus is
asserting that the cycle of violence and vindictive acts of justice is characteristic of a primitive society
and that some other way must be found to resolve the conflict of moral questions. The establishment
of the courts at the end of the trilogy directly concept of justice.
The establishment of the courts provides a place for the citizens to decide about what is moral and to
debate the details of specific cases. The emergence of the jury trial also suggests that justice is not just
unless it involves deliberation. In the earlier plays Orestes and Clytemnestra took justice into their
own hands by acting impulsively and Aeschylus implies in his tragedy that When a person seeks
justice they must be careful not to pursue it in a vindictive way because revenge will inevitably
transgress into suffering for the person seeking reprisal. the law needs to be concerned with definitions
justice itself. In other words, justice without judgment is too rash and impulsive. A jury is necessary so
that questions can be deliberated. Was Orestes matricide justified? Circumstances, motives and

file with the OPRR. Coleman adds, The assurance is a written statement of an institution s
requirements for its IRB and human subject protections (Coleman et al. 170). Meanwhile, FDA uses
research investigators to determine whether IRBs are functioning in an effective manner. The OPRR
and the FDA share the task of oversight of IRBs, and do so through documentation and research
investigators respectively. Without this system of review, Institutional Review Boards would not be

Bob Dylan Influence
Music has existed as a concept ever since the conception of the human race. The value of music has
yet to be determined, as coming down to a precise conclusion on the impact music has had on the
course of history will force humanity to confront the essence of humanity itself. Bob Dylan is an
impeccable example of a prime character whose niche was the act of validating the human experience
because many of his music pieces fixated on beat culture. Bob Dylan is considered one of the most
influential artists in American society. Dylan contended that his politics were an essential element of
his songs and that the social issues he chose to address were much more important than the music he
wrote, one of his most prominent pieces, A Hard Rain s Gonna Fall was influenced by the Cuban
Missile Crisis. Dylan used his platform to chronicle the ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
Along with Bob Dylan, another musician with a major influence over the nation was Pete Seeger
(May 3, 1919 January 27, 2014). Seeger, a singer, folk song collector and songwriter who initiated an
American folk revival and spent a long career championing folk music as both a vital heritage and a
catalyst for social change. Even after recording a plethora of albums, Mr. Seeger abhorred
commercialism and never enjoyed the stardom he received. He regularly preferred to use his celebrity
status to bear attention and contributions to the charities that moved him. Mr. Seeger envisioned
himself as a component of a lasting folk tradition, continually reusing and, respectfully, revising music
that had been preserved and mastered by time. Seeger s music illustrated the conflict amid society and
the government, he was able to validate and materialize the people s suffering into something audible
as Bob Dylan was moreso focused on the

Bend It Like Beckham Gender Roles
Summary
Bend it like Beckham is a movie about a Punjabi adolescent. In this movie, she goes by the name Jess
for a shorter, easier version of Jesminder Bhamra. She belongs to a Sikh family who is currently living
in London, a different world from their hometown Punjab, India. As a typical Indian parents, Mr. and
Mrs. Bhamra would like for their daughter to follow the Indian heritage by attending school, learning
to cook, becoming a Doctor, and marrying an Indian man. However, just like many other adolescents,
Jess is caught in between conflicting goals, relationships, and cultures. Jess is confused as to if she
should follow what her parents would like her to do or follow her passion, playing football
professionally. One day while playing in ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ...
During this phase, adolescents believe that everyone around them is fully focused on what he/she does
and how he/she looks. As a result, they are consciously aware of what he/she is doing and how this
action might be perceived by others around them; creating imaginary audience in their imagination.
One example of this can seen during one of Jess s football practices. After she was accepted to be a
part of the female s local football team, she was given the uniform a pair of shoe, shorts and t shirt. As
soon as she looked at the pair of shorts, a look of restlessness began to appear on her face. Is it not
until her football coach, Joe, confronted her do we find out the reason. She, uncomfortably, explains
that she doesn t want to play football wearing shorts because her legs are [half] burnt. This explains
Jess s thinking that everyone in the team will notice her legs and will cause embarrassment for herself.
Soon after, Joe explains it s okay Jess; no one will notice it once you start playing. However it is not
until Joe reveals marks on his legs that Jess begins to feel comfortable; depicting adolescent
egocentrism. Another example that portrays adolescent egocentrism in this movie is through personal
fable, a belief in one s personal uniqueness. During this, the adolescent believes that

Arrest Emmeline Pankhurst
7333 It was the fifth time I was called to arrest Emmeline Pankhurst under the Cat and Mouse Act. As
a police officer, I thought it was my duty to keep the streets of Plymouth clean, and I would be
assigned the same comfortable position over and over again. But my chief from Scotland Yard found
out my motives and sent me out to do some other dirty work, such as arresting women under the Cat
and Mouse Act. The government had decided to arrest Emmeline after she traveled from Ellis Island
to England. Of course, I was expecting to be sent to recapture her, but 7 other men were also told to
follow me. 4 from Scotland Yard, two from Plymouth, and a prison guard from Holloway. Like all of
the other times, Ms. Pankhurst refused to go back to prison, but we picked her up ... Show more

My job was assigned, and it seemed like my chief could already foresee the events that were going to
happen. It seemed as if I was assigned to every single one of Emmeline Pankhurst s arrests. Every
time I arrested her and brought her to prison, I started to grow soft towards the women s suffrage
movement. I started to build empathy for them and started to abandon my duties, especially after force
feeding women for over 3 months. A couple of years after my fifth arrest of Ms. Pankhurst, I traveled
to the United States by boat to witness the woman s suffrage amendment being passed in the House of
Representatives. After being forced to witness so many horrific events in England, it felt only right to
show my support of the Nineteenth Amendment. I would later go back to England to report what had
happened. In 1923, I married one of the Suffragettes working with Emmeline, and I asked her to tell
me all about their efforts to give women voting rights. Because of what she told me, I was able to
increase my efforts to grant women voting equality with men in

Tony Blair and the Modernization of Queen Elizabeth II s...
It s 1997, Tony Blair just got elected as the new Prime Minister of the UK, working for Queen
Elizabeth II s Constitution. Blair wanted to provide the most radical modernization of the Constitution
in over three hundred years: he wanted to breathe new life into the old institutions. His leadership and
social ism was a breath of fresh air to the UK. On 31 August 1997, the Queen s son controversial ex
wife Diana (Princess of Wales) dies in a car crash in Paris, France, together with her current partner
Dodi Fayed and their driver Henri Paul. After her divorce with Prince Charles (Prince of Wales) in
1996 she got engaged several times, to different men. She was declared a loose cannon or a rebel : her
and Prince Charles got divorced, she dressed exactly the way she wanted, she gave birth to her
children in a hospital, while royal customs declare a child should be born in the palace. Also, at this
time, the world had little knowledge of AIDS. While some people guarded themselves from people
with this disease, Princess Diana went out and shook hands with AIDS patients in Africa and she
enrolled her children in a public school, while it was custom for the Royal Family to home school the
royal children. She was also well known for her fund raising work for international charities. Because
of all this, she was referred to as the People s Princess : people felt they were close to her, and could
relate to her. She was a perfect mother and a warm person: a British inhabitant,

  • 4. Human Nature In Lord Of The Flies Character Analysis Andrew Sink Mr. McCain Advanced English, period 6 22 September 2014 Raw Human Nature In the novel Lord of The Flies by William Golding, a plane crashes on an island and a group of young English boys are forced to fend for themselves as well as each other in hope of rescue. In this novel Golding makes several comments on the tendencies of man when in the absence of a social structure. Throughout the book, Golding tells the reader about human nature. When humans completely give in to human nature, chaos erupts. Through the use of the fire, the beast, and Piggy s glasses William Golding shows how human nature slowly pulls away from civilization when there is no social structure. One way that Golding conveys his message about human nature is with the fire and its smoke. In a sense, the fire is an indicator of the civilization level of the boys. Towards the beginning of the story, Ralph works very hard at keeping up the fire. The other boys help him because they want to be rescued as well. They want the fire to ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... From the very beginning of the novel it s obvious that Piggy s glasses are important. They are a symbol of power. Piggy s glasses hold within them the power of fire. Power is something craved by most people on the island, especially Jack. This craving is due to the tendencies of human nature. Ralph uses Piggy s specs so he can make his signal fires, but when Jack breaks away and forms his own tribe. He steals Piggy s glasses so he can have fire for cooking his meat. The spectacles have the power to save them all from the island, such as Ralph s signal fires, or destroy them all, such as Jack creating a forest fire in an attempt to kill Ralph. Ralph tries to use the spectacles to get rescued and Jack tries to use the spectacles to kill Ralph and gain power. What Is The Purpose Of Illuminati I believe the majority of you don t have knowledge about what illuminati stands for, others might know what it symbolize but they ve never gone too deep into the subject to really understand its purpose and how it works. I am going to start off by introducing you all to the basic definition of illuminati. Illuminati is a secret society of the world s most powerful and wealthiest citizens. Its ultimate goal is to control the world and to build one big society full of Illuminists. We are ruled by it, we are manipulated into believing what they want us to believe, into voting who they want to be the next leader, into being what they want us to be. Those musicians can be ordinary people like you and me, who have never been close to Governmental Mind Control. Those musicians (and actors) don t have to be severely mind controlled to unknowingly help out with the Agenda of the Elite. They just jump on the same train and the snowball effect is starting. Thus, the Illuminati, who started the trend, can sit back and watch. We, the citizens, are doing the rest for them. 5. Other gifted musicians and actors, who are creating art that goes outside the Agenda or against it have no chance to get their message out broadly, because nobody at the top of the Industry (where the money is) is willing to promote them. The International Bankers (The Illuminati) are the ones who own the Industry. As soon as someone is creating something (may be music, a new label with contrary ideas or something similar) that opposes what is next on the Agenda, the Illuminati is quick to buy it out. • 6. The Future For Trade Unions 1. The future for trade unions Trade unions have played a crucial role in developing a democratic society in terms of monitoring and enforcement in the areas of wages and employment conditions. (Landau et al 2014, ????) It has been argued that the Industrial Commission gave Australia both political and competitive advantage and provided both members and non members, significant workplace gains throughout most of the 20th century. (Ref) Whilst not formally united with the Australian Labour Party (ALP), the Australian Council of Trade Unions (ACTU) has sustained close association with it. The ACTU has played a critical role in Australian politics. Bob Hawke was president of the ACTU from 1970 to 1980, and went on to become labour prime minister from 1983 to 1991. The establishment of Australia s Industrial Relations Reform Act in 1993, which was intended to streamline the collective bargaining process, largely resulted in a decline in ACTU membership. (Ref) In 2006, the Howard governments WorkChoices laws came in to effect. Employees saw this as opportunity to remove unfair dismissal protection, while reducing employee entitlement, removing the independent industrial arbitrator and ultimately weakening trade union muscle. (Wilson Spies Butcher 2011) In 2006 07, a critical movement came with the ACTU s Your rights at work campaign. • 8. The Theory Of The Constructivist Theory 1) Constructivism is a form of learning which is driven by the theory that humans are able to generate knowledge from the interaction between their experiences and their ideas(1). This makes the student actively involved in the process of synthesising meaning and knowledge. It is argued that the constructivist approach inculcates critical thinking from the extrapolation of the student s prior knowledge and actively engaging the student in this way is much more effective than passive learning through acquiring knowledge in a lecture(2) Also, this form of learning can be done in a collaboration of students(3) Below are discussed some of the main types of constructivist theories. One of the principle theoretical constructs used in medical education is known as Problem Based learning (PBL). This form of learning starts with an educator forms and presents a number of carefully constructed problems to a small group of students(4). The problems presented here are typically based on events of which the students have some prior knowledge of. This prior knowledge is discussed within the class and from this, questions are asked related to the problems presented. When I was little, I was fascinated with being a speech and language pathologist but then I grew a little taller and discovered smoke jumping. And up until my senior year in high school I wanted to be a smoke jumper. But by the end of my senior year, I finally found my career; a life flight nurse. Having a strict schedule, great job security, being people oriented, and having an independent job are the things I look for most when I m looking at career options. I want a schedule where I can easily have an idea of what hours I will be working before the schedule is printed. I am also looking for great job security in the fact that if I am going to be going to school, I want to be able to do it once and be very good at it. I don t want to have to switch through jobs because my current career isn t holding out based on the world. I like helping people and I want to be able to save the ones I can. I am a very independent person and I would like to do a job where I have my own independent time where I can take control and learn from my own mistakes, but because I am also people oriented, I also would like to have a select few co works that I can touch base with to make sure I am on the right track with my thinking. • 13. Business, Sustainability And The Natural Environment Business, Sustainability and the Natural Environment, Daniel Katz During the past 25 years, awareness of the environment has increased tremendously. Non profit organizations look beyond institutional goals, and instead, try to find a shared vision that works for everyone in the society. Our society needs to stop consuming as if we have an infinite planet; we have to have integrity for the world we live in because the natural resources that have been sustaining us will not last forever. Companies need to evolve with the modern age and changing consumer market. For example, Netflix never thought they would produce their own shows, however, with the changing consumer market, they have done just that. Also, NGO s sometimes have to partner with bigger for profit companies in order to target a larger consumer base, thus, solidifying the fact that the for profit and non profit sector have to team together in order to sustain the environment in which we inhabit. Business, Sustainability and Poverty, Jacqueline Novogratz This plenary begins by stating that a financial crisis occurs when people in the markets do not trust each other. Trust is what makes a society fair. Corruption flourishes upon weaknesses in economic, political, and social institutions, and this diverts economic growth by eroding the quality of public goods. In this age, income equality has increased across countries due to globalization and technology; however, income inequality within countries has increased as ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...

People see the tattoos, and they either read things or they see things and they don t really know that I m just this guy that gets up and makes coffee in the morning and hangs out with his friends and walks his dog and reads his Bible and goes about his day. Said Joel Madden. Tattoos and piercings don t directly represent any qualities that employers are looking for. You can t base your entire judgment of a person off of what they put on their body or how many piercings they have on their body. It s like saying just because this guy is wearing rings means he is too sensitive for the job because typically women wear rings not men. I know that tattoos used to be related to violence, drugs, and gangs. But we live in a different world now. One where people get tattoos to remember important times in their lives. Time that helped shape them into the people they are today. Tattoos have gained wider social acceptance and more and more people, men and women alike, have them (All Business). Today tattoos can just be just connected to gangs and violence. Today almost everyone has them. So if employers want to be able to hire the best employee they better rethink discrimination against tattoos because a study found that between the ages 18 29 about 40% of people have tattoos (Statistic Brain). • 17. The Media s Influence On The Perception Of Media And... Very few viewers of adverts decode images passively. Marita Sturken and Lisa Cartwright argue that there are very few viewers who decode images passively because there is no mass culture. This is because each viewer has different contexts and social backgrounds meaning that the images they view can be decoded in various ways because of their frame of reference and background. However the subject of how audiences decode and view media including advertising can be seen in various different perspectives particularly with Karl Marx and Louis Althusser who have similar but different theories around audiences as passive and active parts of the decoding process. Through Stuart Hall also we can understand the different ways audiences can receive a advert. Sturken and Cartwright s theory of audiences focuses on the idea that everyone has their own background and frame of reference that determines how they decode an image (57). In advertising this theory is vital in understanding how audiences perceive images and understanding the effects and success of advertising on different people around the world. A part of this surrounds the identity of the viewer and the relevant context of the advert. For example, the Steinlager Pure advert which depicts the nuclear free image of New Zealand (Steinlager Pure). How this advert is received will depend on who views it. This factor of talking to the audience is a major component of making the public a part of the town. The Stage Manager lets the audience know that that is the end of the first act and prompts them to go and smoke, for those that do smoke (Wilder 46). Alternatively, Wilder uses this same technique at the end of Act II and Act III in which the Stage Manager announces a ten minute intermission and wishes the audience a good night. • 24. Examples Of Feminism In Trifles A woman is human. She is not better, wiser, stronger, more intelligent, more creative, or more responsible than a man. Likewise, she is never less. Equality is a given. A woman is human (Nazarian, V., The Perpetual Calendar of Inspiration.). Today in most of the countries, many people think just like this quote, or have similar opinion about the gender equality. However this was not a normal thing back in the 1880s, when Susan Glaspell, the writer of the play Trifles, lived. The society back then followed male dominated society, and many thought that male had more values than female. Susan Glaspell, as a writer, opposed to this flow, and included many feminist features in her play. The play Trifles, by Susan Glaspell, reflects a strong feminist ... The quilt symbolises the bad mental condition of Mrs. Wright, the birdcage symbolises her broken heart, and the canary symbolises herself. First of all, Mrs. Wright was alone for long period of time, because her husband did not let her go out, and also Mrs. Hale choose not to visit her. This made her mentally tired, and caused her to buy a canary to fill up her loneliness. However, Mr. Wright seems to not like the bird at all, and killed it by twisting its head. This action of Mr. Wright became the final blow for Mrs. Wright, and her heart broke. This is expressed by the broken birdcage. Mrs. Wright decided to kill her husband in the same way he killed the canary, which is choking him with rope. The historical background have connection to this, because Mrs. Wright was one example of female who could not get rid of the male dominated society. Susan Glaspell might have wrote this play to show the irony of the male dominated society. The male dominated society (Mr. Wright) that killed all enjoyable thing in Mrs. Wright was killed by her at the last. The play might be open ended, because if Susan wrote the specific murder, that might have disappointed someone, and the play might not have been played at the first place. The Character Brett Ashley in Ernest Hemingway s The Sun Also Rises There is a common perception among casual readers who hasn t heard it voiced? that Ernest Hemingway did not respect women. What will be examined is the role of women, as evidenced by Brett Ashley in The Sun Also Rises, and what, if anything, it reveals in the way of settling this account of Hemingway as misogynist. Given that, I d say the author invented an arch type of modern man in Jake Barnes. Jake is the friend you can count on. He s the guy, who if he were alive today, would memorize Bly and bang drums in the woods under a full moon. He s sensitive. In other words, I reject the notion that Jake is less a man for his injury. He is, it fact, a better man. The Sun Also Rises is a seminal work from a writer at the peak of his skills. Hemingway, like his narrator, Jake Barnes, does the work of a journalist. The novel serves as a field report for the societal changes brought on by the Great War. The Characteristics Of The Puggle A recently developed, increasingly popular designer dog breed, the Puggle gains lots of new fans every day, thanks to its adorable appearance and playful nature. These dogs are particularly compatible with children. If you have young kids and want to find a dog that they can spend hours with, the Puggle is ideal. This breed can also get along with older people, but tends to prefer the like minded, fun loving nature of younger humans. The Puggle also easily makes friends with other dogs and is simply an easygoing animal. These dogs are conveniently small in stature and can come in a huge range of colors and forms. They wanted a clearer understanding as to why implicit and explicit self esteem is lower in Chinese cultures versus western cultures. The authors were successful in articulating the problem with the gap in the literature. The authors defined and discussed in detail collectivists and individualists (Yu et. • 33. Argumentative Pop Culture Argument essay Pop culture is fascinating. Whether it be a popular new movie or an album by an artist, there is always something in store for everyone to love about it. RuPaul once said, The point about pop culture is that so much of it is borrowed. There s very little that s brand new. Instead, creativity today is a kind of shopping process picking up on and sampling things from the world around you, things you grew up with. What he means by this is that ideas have been reused throughout music, movies, shows, novels, etc. over time. Nowadays it is a rarity to find anything original as many ideas are recycled or borrowed. Music is a unique way of expressing one s self, though ideas can become recycled and borrowed by other artists. These days, a particularly older person could hear a newly released song and find the music to be familiar. An artist can simply borrow the music from an older song and then incorporate it into a new song of their own. Many artists and songwriters nowadays use this technique in their own music. Say an older person was to hear the smash hit Shape of You by songwriter and singer Ed Sheeran. They would hear a song that they once treasured from their days in the club. The song No Scrubs by a high selling music trio of the 1990 s, called TLC, once wrote a song that contains that same music. This is a perfect representation of the idea of reused music. Most of the time, the artist to reuse the music should always have the permission to do so. There is such thing as music plagiarism, which is just what one may think it means, stealing music without permission from the copyright owner. Music can also sound so similar that people would believe that there is some kind of relation to another track. A website called Consequenceofsound.net suggests that there have been plenty of music plagiarism cases in the history of music. Cases that slipped away easily, cases that became so serious that they involved court, and even more serious cases resulting in the deletion of the song overall. Coldplay has always been a top selling artist throughout the years, with some of the most popular songs within the past decade. In Act One the scene opens in Reverend Parris s house, in the year of 1692; the scene focuses on Betty being ill in bed and laying limp , showing the powerful forces, they believe to be witchcraft has overcome her. This extract highlights the importance of the themes that are throughout the play and the ideas of townspeople s lives in Salem, in which the characters portray. This play is set in a theocratic society, where the church and the state are one, and where the religion is strict and shapes their beliefs. Within this Act the narrator describes Salem town as having a strict Puritan way of life with an outlook on the rest of the world as one of parochial snobbery . One of the most important themes to look at in The Crucible is hysteria. The hysteria is tearing the Salem community apart, it creates people s fear of their neighbours and they believe that friends and even family are committing unbelievable crimes of witchcraft and communicating with the devil. To highlight the theme of hysteria we can see how Tituba is [terrified] and [falls to her knees]; in which she is full of hysteria when questioned by Hale by breaking down and confesses to being a witch, though earlier denying practicing witchcraft. In his plays, starting with Agamemnon, the Achaeans slowly emerge and evolve from an older, more primitive autocratic form of justice, to a new concept of justice devised by Athena. The trilogy culminates in hung jury trial, and eventually Orestes absolution. The jury trial at the end of The Furies implies that justice is arbitrary, must include deliberation, and is more than an eye for an eye. Bob Dylan is an impeccable example of a prime character whose niche was the act of validating the human experience because many of his music pieces fixated on beat culture. Bob Dylan is considered one of the most influential artists in American society. Dylan contended that his politics were an essential element of his songs and that the social issues he chose to address were much more important than the music he wrote, one of his most prominent pieces, A Hard Rain s Gonna Fall was influenced by the Cuban Missile Crisis. Along with Bob Dylan, another musician with a major influence over the nation was Pete Seeger (May 3, 1919 January 27, 2014). Seeger, a singer, folk song collector and songwriter who initiated an American folk revival and spent a long career championing folk music as both a vital heritage and a catalyst for social change. Even after recording a plethora of albums, Mr. Seeger abhorred commercialism and never enjoyed the stardom he received. He regularly preferred to use his celebrity status to bear attention and contributions to the charities that moved him. Mr. Seeger envisioned himself as a component of a lasting folk tradition, continually reusing and, respectfully, revising music that had been preserved and mastered by time. • 45. Arrest Emmeline Pankhurst 7333 It was the fifth time I was called to arrest Emmeline Pankhurst under the Cat and Mouse Act. As a police officer, I thought it was my duty to keep the streets of Plymouth clean, and I would be assigned the same comfortable position over and over again. But my chief from Scotland Yard found out my motives and sent me out to do some other dirty work, such as arresting women under the Cat and Mouse Act. The government had decided to arrest Emmeline after she traveled from Ellis Island to England. Of course, I was expecting to be sent to recapture her, but 7 other men were also told to follow me. 4 from Scotland Yard, two from Plymouth, and a prison guard from Holloway. Like all of the other times, Ms. Pankhurst refused to go back to prison, but we picked her up ... Show more content on Helpwriting.net ... My job was assigned, and it seemed like my chief could already foresee the events that were going to happen. It seemed as if I was assigned to every single one of Emmeline Pankhurst s arrests. Every time I arrested her and brought her to prison, I started to grow soft towards the women s suffrage movement. I started to build empathy for them and started to abandon my duties, especially after force feeding women for over 3 months. A couple of years after my fifth arrest of Ms. Pankhurst, I traveled to the United States by boat to witness the woman s suffrage amendment being passed in the House of Representatives. After being forced to witness so many horrific events in England, it felt only right to show my support of the Nineteenth Amendment. I would later go back to England to report what had happened. In 1923, I married one of the Suffragettes working with Emmeline, and I asked her to tell me all about their efforts to give women voting rights. Because of what she told me, I was able to increase my efforts to grant women voting equality with men in ... Get more on HelpWriting.net ...
