2. Teaching approach or combination of methods / approaches: this lesson
is based on the Constructive approach, and organized through the PPP
procedure.
Integration of skills: What skills will be integrated and how? Listening
and speaking skills will be integrated throughout the lesson.
Materials and resources:
Two posters showing the image of a boy and a girl, pictures of boys’ and girls
in different colours, song played on a cd player, photocopies.
Pedagogical use of ICT in class or at home:
We will use ICT materials in the classroom when listening to the ‘Hello
song’ from a cd and the Goodbye song, which was downloaded from a You Tube
video.
Seating arrangement:
The students will sit on their desks, which are placed in two big groups,
facing each other. This is how they usually sit, so I will respect this as they are
organized and ready to work. Besides, they can see each other and work in groups if
necessary.
Assessment: what will be assessed and how: I will assess the way
students understand and use the new vocabulary and structures
throughout the lesson. I will assure they get sufficient input so that they
can develop their listening and speaking skills as they elicit the new
vocabulary through context.

‘Let’s sit down. Sit down, please.’ (Indicating with my hands and arms)
‘My name is Erica’ What’s your name?’ I will ask each student’s name. (Note:
My full name is Alicia Erica Balint, but everybody calls me Erica. So I will
tell them ‘Erica’ so that they do not get confused.)
Warm-up 10’
Purpose:to introduce ourselves as wellas the topics and the teaching
points
I will show the students the two posters on the board. Pointing to the first
figure, I will say: ‘Boy’. Then, I will point to the second one and say ‘Girl’. I
will point to myself and say: ‘Girl’.
Then, I will ask them to repeat the words by signaling the posters a few times
in different order. ‘Repeat with me, please. BOY, GIRL. Now, you alone.’ I
will point at the figures and they will name them. If they need help, I will
repeat with them.
4. Presentation 10’:
Purpose: to further expose the learners to the target language.
I will hand in an envelope every two children with figures of boys and girls in the
following colours: red, blue, green and yellow. Not all of them will have the same
ones, so that they can use the figures for the next activity. As I hand them in, I will
explain:
‘Here you are an envelope (pointing it) with boys and girls. I will call one of them,
and those who have it, show it’. For example: ‘Blue girl’ and I will show the
corresponding figure. ‘Red boy’.
After I finish explaining, students will perform the task, I will help them with an
example when needed.
Development 15’:
Purpose: to foster comprehension by identifying boys and girls drawings in a
picture.
‘Now, it’s your turn’ I will give Ss a photocopy with a picture of a playground
showing boys and girls. I will ask them to choose a colour for the girls and a colour
for the boys and paint them. Once they finished, I will say: ‘can you show me the
green boys? Green boys?’ And they will raise their drawings those who had painted
the boys green. I will have drawings with all the possible combinations in case they
need some help.
