• Teaching approach: I’ll use the Communicative Approach
• Materials and resources: balloons of different colours, cd player, audio
material (songs and chants), boxes.
• Seating arrangement: Children will be standing to sing the song and sitting
on their chairs.
• Possible problems / difficulties and their possible solutions during the
class: Children lose their spam of attention quickly and become naughty. I´ll
use a red sad face to indicate them they are misbehaving and a green happy
face when they are behaving correctly.
• Potential problems students may have with the language: Children may
have forgotten the vocabulary and want to resort to Spanish. I´ll help them by
modelling the language they will have to use.
• Assessment: I´ll check students’ comprehension through their participation. If
I notice they do not understand, I´ll mime, model the language or ask a partner
or the class to model the activity.
Routine: 5’
I’ll get into the classroom and greet students:
3. “Hello!, how are you today?” “Let´s sing the Hello song”. As the students know
the song, they will listen, sing, mime and dance. I will play the cd:
Hello, hello, good morning
How are you today?
Hello, hello, good morning
How are you today?
I am fine, I am fine
I´m very well today
I am fine, I am fine
I´m very well today
Hello, hello, good afternoon

school year)
Transition: Well done! Ok everybody sit down, please!
Warm-up 10’:
In order to introduce the topic and activate some previous knowledge students
may have, I will present the topic with a visual aid.
I will stick on the board the following poster:
4. “What are these?” Probably they will answer in Spanish, but I will say “ok, very
good, They are COLOURS!”
“Let´s play a game!”
Presentation 5’:
In order to set context in an amusing way, I will use “I spy” game.
I will say to students “I spy with my little eye something red. Point something
red” I will go on with the rest of the colours. When students understand the
game, I will ask them to say “I spy with my little eye....”
Transition: “Look, what are these? Yes! They are balloons!
Development 15’:
Activity 1-10’: Chanting
In order to check comprehension, I will present a chant with realia (balloons)
I will hand students balloons of different colours. I will ask them “What colour is
your balloon, Juana?””It´s red...” “Is it red or green?”
“Great! Let´s chant”
5. I will explain to students that we will chant. I will say that each of them have a
different colour balloon and that they will have to raise their balloon when the
colour of it is mentioned in the chant.
We will chant the following:
“Balloons are red,
Balloons are blue,
Balloons are green and purple and yellow, too”
As we are singing, students will raise the balloon that is being mentioned. When
we mention red, all students with red balloons will raise them.
We will chant until students recognize all colours.
Transition: “Very good. Let´s put away all the balloons. All yellows in this box,
all greens here, etc”
Activity 2- 10’: Colour dictation
I will hand students worksheets of the lion . I will explain then that each part of
the lion goes in different colours. I will dictate:” number 1 is black. Look for
number 1, the same until number 7”. When we finish, I will ask them again in
order to revise and recycle.
