· Teaching approach or combination of methods / approaches: this lesson
is based on the Constructive approach, and organized through the PPP
procedure. We will also be working according to the EEE (Encounter,
Engage and Exploit) model proposed by Robinson, Mourao and Kang,
since students will use the language being exposed during the different
activities to complete the poster. The end of the class will be organized
through the TPR (Total Physical Response) procedure, since students will
have to act out the actions during the “Simon Says” game.
Integration of skills: What skills will be integrated and how? Listening
and speaking skills will be integrated throughout the lesson.
Reading and writing skills will be developed by paying attention to the
lyrics and completing with the correct words.
Cognitive skills will also be used throughout the whole lesson while
interpreting each of the tasks.
3. Materials and resources:
Two big pictures simulating pages of a book, a poster with a chart and one of
each worksheet, photocopies, music player, pen drive, CD.
Pedagogical use of ICT in class or at home: we will not use any ICT
material as we will work with the Cd and student’s own production.
Seating arrangement:
The students will sit on their desks, which are placed in four groups, facing
each other. This is how they usually sit, so I will respect this as they are organized
and ready to work. Besides, they can see each other and work in groups if necessary.
· Assessment: what will be assessed and how: I will assess the way students
interpret and acquire the new lexis and structures they are learning. I will ask
all the students to participate and help them inferring the new words’ meaning
through context.

‘O.k. Let’s start’.
Warm-up 5’
Purpose:to introduce the topic and revise some of aspects from the
previous class
I will show students a picture showing the first image of a story again. I will tell
students:
‘Do you remember? This is Tom. He is a rabbit. Tom has got a sister. Her name is
Tina. Tom and Tina have got a grandmother. Her name is Ruby.’
‘Tom and Tina like animals. Look! Their grandmother is reading a book. They can
go to different places. Today, they are in the jungle.’
Development 20’:
Purpose: to foster listening and cognitive skills by encouraging students to
listen and identify animals in the picture
I will tell students about all the animals in the picture.
5. ‘Listen! Can you see the zebra? What colour is it?’
‘Can you see the tiger? Good!’
‘This is a snake. Is it big or small?’
‘And look at the giraffe. It is very tall.’
‘This is a lion. Can it swim?
‘Look at the crocodile. Can it fly?’
‘And this is an elephant. It’s grey’
‘And the small rabbit. Tom, Tina and Ruby are rabbits.’
‘And finally, this is the monkey. What can it do?’
‘Excellent job!’
Activity n°1:
I will turn to the board and I will show a poster with some of the animals we have
introduced. I will hand in a similar photocopy to each of the students.
6. (Retrieved from Happy House 2. New Edition. Activity Book. Page 6)
I will ask students the name of the different animals and I will complete it on the
poster so that they can copy how to write the words on their worksheets. Then, I will
ask them to match the words with the correct picture. I will do the first one with
them so that the task is clear for them.
Activity n°2:
I will stick the following picture on the board. Students will receive a worksheet to
listen and complete. Before we start, I will give an example using the words
“elephant” and “monkey”.
Listen and circle Yes or No
1 YES NO
2 YES NO
3 YES NO
4 YES NO
7. We will check the activity while we are doing it.
(Retrieved from Happy House 2. New Edition. Activity Book. Page 10. Track 17)
Note: The audio track attached to this lesson is not of a very good quality because it
had to be recorded from the CD. But it works perfectly well and the students will
hear it from the CD.
Closure 10’:
Purpose: to finish the class completing a chart about what animals can do.
As I have noticed students are eager to go to the board and complete activities. I will
stick a big poster on it and I will ask some volunteers to complete it.
Extra activity: if there is still a little time, we will play “Simon says” with the
activities we have learnt.
‘Bye, bye, pupils. You may go out now.’
