SURVEY ANALYSIS
TONI LOUGH AS MEDIA
Question 1 – From my results I can see that 60% of the
people that answered my survey were women, whereas
40% were men. Most of my survey will now have a
female bias which can affect some of the answers. The
60:40 split means that I can still aim my magazine at
both male and female.
Question 2 – The majority of people that answered my
survey were aged between 16 and 24. I therefore think
that my target audience will be this age range as I think
they are the most revolved around music.
Question 3 – From all the people that completed my
survey, 50% preferred the layout of NME, compared to
Q being just over 20% and billboard being just under
30%. I will base my layout on NME considering lots of
people like this.
Question 4 – Over 40% of the people who answered my
survey would like concerts and gig dates to be included
in the magazine. This is so they can take action to
actually go out and see the bands, I therefore think this
will be a good selling point to use in my magazine.
Question 5 – The preferred music choice that people
chose was pop, however indie closely followed. I would
prefer to have a indie genre magazine however
considering a lot of people do like pop to I could either
include indie-pop artists or have pop features.
Question 6 – From my results I can see that people
would prefer to spend between £2 and £3 on a
magazine as they will still get a good quality magazine
for a reasonable price. I would like to use this feature
too.
Question 7 – There were a very wide range of artists and
bands that people would like to be included within the
magazine. These were all from either rock, indie or pop
genres. The bands and artists were either classics such as
ACDC and Blur, or popular bands and artists such as
Two Door Cinema Club and Mumford and Sons.
Question 9 – From my results I can see that a majority of
people only buy music magazines a few times a year. I
could have my magazine come out every 3 months
rather than every week or month, as I am able to collect
stories over a longer period of time meaning the
content would be better.
Question 9 – Out of all the freebies that were
suggested, people would like free tickets or free
downloads the most. I could offer this due to it being a
quarterly magazine so there would be more content
included.
Question 10 – From my results I can see that different
things appeal to different people. However on the whole
the most common were the colours used and the way
the photographs were taken. I will therefore include this.

  • 6. Question 5 – The preferred music choice that people chose was pop, however indie closely followed. I would prefer to have a indie genre magazine however considering a lot of people do like pop to I could either include indie-pop artists or have pop features.
  • 7. Question 6 – From my results I can see that people would prefer to spend between £2 and £3 on a magazine as they will still get a good quality magazine for a reasonable price. I would like to use this feature too.
  • 8. Question 7 – There were a very wide range of artists and bands that people would like to be included within the magazine. These were all from either rock, indie or pop genres. The bands and artists were either classics such as ACDC and Blur, or popular bands and artists such as Two Door Cinema Club and Mumford and Sons.
  • 9. Question 9 – From my results I can see that a majority of people only buy music magazines a few times a year. I could have my magazine come out every 3 months rather than every week or month, as I am able to collect stories over a longer period of time meaning the content would be better.
  • 10. Question 9 – Out of all the freebies that were suggested, people would like free tickets or free downloads the most. I could offer this due to it being a quarterly magazine so there would be more content included.
  • 11. Question 10 – From my results I can see that different things appeal to different people. However on the whole the most common were the colours used and the way the photographs were taken. I will therefore include this.
