2. Question 1- How Old Are you?
I asked this question because I
wanted to know what the average
age of the people reading my
magazine will be. The results show
that the majority of the audience is
15-20. 63.33% were aged 15-20,
20% are 26-30, 10% are 21-25 and
6.67% were 31-45. I will use this
information to construct my music
magazine effectively and make sure
it suits to the audience.
3. Question 2- What gender are you?
I asked this question so I know what
gender my audience is mostly going to
be. 53.33% were female and 46.67%
were male. This helps me to design my
magazine to suit the audience better.
This will help me plan the front cover
and what content is going to be in the
magazine.
4. Question 3- How much would you pay for a music magazine?
I asked this question so that I know how
much to charge for my music magazine as I
wouldn’t want it to be too cheap as then
profit wouldn’t be made but I wouldn’t
want it to be too expensive as then nobody
would buy it. 53.33% said they would pay
£3-5 for a magazine which is over half.
5. Question 4- How often would you buy a music magazine?
I asked this question to make sure that my
audience would buy a magazine monthly
and 96.67% said they would. This shows me
that people will buy a magazine monthly.
This will help with my planning as my
magazine can have more pages inside.
6. Question 5- What colours would you
associate with the pop punk genre?
I asked this question to find out what colour scheme
would be best for my magazine. The most popular
colours are black, red, yellow and purple. This can
help me decided which colours match best with the
pop punk genre and my magazine cover. These can
make the magazine look striking and clear what genre
the magazine is.
7. Question 6- What is your favourite pop punk
band/artist?
The most popular answer for the favourite bands were blink 182 and green day. This gives me an idea to
what the audience will want to see in the magazine. It shows me what bands i can feature in my
magazine that will make people buy it and find an interest in it. This can help me decide who will be my
front cover each month and can feature on a double page spread. Other bands that were mentioned
were fall out boy, all time low and paramore.
8. Question 7- What music magazines do you already buy, if any?
I asked this question so i can get an idea of
what magazines they are used to buying so i
can see what style is popular and what
features i could use in my magazine. Kerrang
was the most popular at 29.63% and 25.93%
said other. I can look at kerrangs most
popular features which can help me decide
what to include in mine.
9. Question 8- What do you like about the pop punk genre?
I asked this question so i know what to
include in my magazine. 50% of the
people i asked said the music, 30% said
the bands/artists, 10% said the fashion
and 10% said other. This shows me that i
should include the pop punk music and
bands/artists in my magazine most.
10. Question 9- What is the first thing that you look at when buying a music
magazine?
I asked this question so that i know what
to prioritise when making my magazine.
46.67% said the main image which
means that most people look at that
first. This means this has to look the best
for people to buy the magazine.
11. Question 10- What incentives would make you want to buy a magazine?
I asked this question so that i know what the
audience would like to be included inside the
magazine. 33.33% said free gig tickets and
13.33% said free posters and exclusive
articles. This means that in my magazine i
would include some of these to make people
drawn to it.
12. Question 11- What 3 words would you
associate with Pop Punk?
• There were a lot of different answers to this question but the most
popular words were:
• Upbeat
• Loud
• Unique
• This gives me an idea of what the audience thinks about this genre .
13. Question 12- What content would appeal to you in a pop punk magazine?
I asked this question so that i know what
people want to read in a music magazine.
46.67% said interviews and 23.33% said
new and upcoming bands. In my magazine
i will know to put in interviews and new
and upcoming bands.
