2. Process
I wanted to include a glitch transition effect in my
experiments. I was unsure how to do this at first, but I found a
site which showed me some effects. The site was Film Crux
and it showed me some techniques and some transitions that
were able to give the effect that I wanted. I downloaded the
file and I was able to save them as a preset in Premier Pro. To
access them I then went to effects used the drop-down arrow
on, ‘Presets’ and then used the drop-down arrow on, ‘Film
Crux glitch transitions. After this I used an adjustment layer
and followed the instructions on the position and how big to
make it. Following this I dragged and dropped the glitch that i
saved in presets and used it.
3. Process
To use the effects that I wanted to, I had to make an adjustment layer so that they could be
played over of my clip. To do this I right clicked in the bin and then went to new item and
from there I clicked adjustment layer. This made a new adjustment layer in my bin. From
there I had to drag and drop the new adjustment layer out of the bin to where I wanted it
in my Premier file. I could then resize and rescale it to how I wanted it to be.
4. Process
I used effects such as glitch transitions. To do this I made an adjustment layer and I had to place
my live timeframe marker in the center of the transition. From here I followed the instructions
from each of the different effects. The first effect was an inversion glitch. I had to move the
adjustment layer 3 frames in front of the cut and then move it to the end of the video. I then
dragged and dropped the inversion glitch file onto the adjustment layer to put the effect on top
of the raw footage. The second effect was a ghost glitch. This effect gave a little bit more depth to
the whole of the glitch and added more elements. I did this a similar way as I had to add an
adjustment layer and start the layer 5 frames before the cut and end it 3 frames after the cut. I
then dragged and dropped the effect into the adjustment layer to finally finish off the glitch
effect.
5. Process
I added a copy right free soundtrack to my experiment to add an
extra layer to the clip. In the middle there is a glitch in the video so I
thought that I would glitch the audio slightly as well. At first I tried a
ready made preset in Premier pro but it didn’t fit the way I wanted so
instead I used the razor tool to cut up the copy right free audio. From
this I then copied the cut-up part of the audio by holding option and
dragging the audio down below the main audio track. After this I
then went to audio effects, special and then placed an invert and
distortion effect onto the sample part of the audio. This made the
audio from the main track sound like the audio track had glitched
and gave off a stronger effect than the original glitch file that I got
from Premier Pro.
7. Reflection
• What elements of your experiments will you include
in your final product?
– I will include elements such as the different glitch effects
and colour distortion. I liked these elements because they
added a sense of insanity and makes the audience
wonder why the vision is not fully clear. These effects
would make the audience want to watch on to answer
there questions and clear there mindset.
– I also want to include a similar shot as it makes the
audience feel like the character could be falling or being
taken by something in there mind. This would reflect signs
of mental illness or a type of PTSD taking over there mind
and body. This also makes the audience want to watch on
so that they can find out what could be going on.
