2. Week 1
24th-26th
This has been the first week of our new project. The first
day we had the brief about the new project. We have to
make content for a platform that is called, The Grid and it
is aimed at 16-18 year olds. This first week has been
audience research. My group has worked collectively on
audience research this week. We have specifically worked
on social media platforms for the majority of the week
and where we would share our products. We have also
conveyed an audience survey and analysed it. This week
has been successful overall and we have got some good
research done as a team.
3. Week 2
1st-3rd November
This week we have developed our ideas of, āThe Gridā in more detail. We have looked at
how our different types of audience would react to the product and how we can make our
product appealing to them. We have composed an audience profile which will help us to
remember who our audience are and keep all their attributes in one profile. We also
developed our ideas on the word, āGridā and what it can connotate. We used this
information to make a logo concept and think about the deeper meanings of the word.
Over the week we used our research to get some content ideas together. We came up with
the idea of showing the differences in music taste with teens. We want to make short
documentary style clips including interviews and vox pops. Overall this week has been
successful and we have worked well as a team to get a good concept for our product.
4. Week 3
8th-10th November
This week we have been working on making the content for our platform the grid. I have
been working on the logo and the ident for the grid and designing ideas for both. I did 2
mock-ups of a logo and picked the best one. The one I picked was simple and slick. I then
shared it with my group and we decided that it needs a bit of colour. I tried a few different
colours and colour patterns but decided on a nice light blue colour. This colour worked the
best with the logo and the style and looked good as well. After I had completed the logo I
moved onto the ident for our platform. I brainstormed a couple of ideas and came to the
idea of the logo being central and getting larger. I also wanted a moving background. For
this I got two moving stock background layers that I merged together by using the opacity
tool. I then added some lens flares and light lines. I also added a soundtrack that went well
with the look and style of the ident. This finished it off and made it look like a professional
ident. The hardest part about this week was the fact that I was in class on my own as both
of my colleagues were off sick. To get around this we communicated through Microsoft
teams and we were still able to make decisions together. It was harder than usual but we
were able to solve the problems we faced.
