2. Experiment 1
For the first experiment I created a glitch effect on a video clip. I did this because It was
something I didn’t already know how to do and I though it could be useful to have a sci fi effect
that I can use in the final product. I created it using premiere pro so all that will be needed is the
computer and a video clip.
3. Process
I started by putting a glitch effect onto the
video. I then put a colour distortion to give
it the RGB effect. Then, to animate it,
created a key frame and put the master
amplitude on zero. I moved the video
three frames on and then put the master
amplitude to one hundred then another
three frames, put it back to zero.
Later on in the video I did the same effect
but this time I altered the scale to 115. This
allowed me to alter the position of the
video by creating a key frame and moving
it slightly.
4. Reflection
Learning this premiere pro technique will be useful for m final product as it could
look good for the time travel effect. It wouldn’t be used to create the full effect
but could look interesting and show more technical skills whilst adding to the
illusion. This has also taught me more effects and techniques which I can now
expand upon in my final product to make something more creative and
interesting.
5. Experiment 2
For my second experiment I created a zooming transition effect between two video clips. I
thought that this look interesting and could help when I’m trying to create interesting effects to
create the illusion of time travel. This effect was created on premiere pro so will need computers
and two video clips to create the transition. I think that this, combined with other effects, could
help me create the time travel scene.
6. Process
Firstly I needed to import in two video clips
to put into the timeline and an adjustment
layer. I add two adjustment layers into the
timeline above where the two videos
meet. Then I shortened the bottom
adjustment layer until it snapped in the
middle of the two video clips.
The first effect that I needed to add was a
replicate effect and change the count to
three. This meant that nine versions of the
video appeared on the screen with lines
between dividing them. I then needed to
get rid of the lines by adding a mirror
effect to the bottom adjustment layer. I
needed to add four mirror effects and
change the reflection angles and centres.
Until they lined up perfectly. This erased all
of the lines between.
Then I started to create the zoom effect by
adding the transform effect to the second
adjustment layer. This adds a motion blur
which makes the transition smoother. To
do this I created two key frames 7 frames
to either side of the cut between each clip.
I kept the first key frame at 100 and
changed the second one up to 300. This
means that it will zoom back into the
centre tile. In order to get the motion blur I
unchecked the box that said “use
composition’s shutter angle” and turn the
shutter angle to 360 degrees. This means
that it has more motion blur which makes
the transition look smooth.
7. Reflection
I think that this premiere pro effect will be useful for my final product because it
will be good to create the time travel aspect. It could look good mixed with other
effects to create the final outcome. I also think that it helped me learn how to do
more on premiere pro and strengthen my knowledge going into production.
