8. Mood Board Analysis
Is there any repetition in the images you have collected? Repeated
colours/images styles/fonts/tone/mood
There is repetition in some of the images I have gathered. For example there are a
lot of dark greens and darker forest colours. This gives connotations of a natural
product or a natural danger as a dark green would give the audience a feeling that
the forest isn’t blossoming or shining, like a light green, but the opposite of it
rotting and falling. It gives the audience more of a feel that the forest is a danger
and to be kept away from. There were some repeated tones and moods in my
mood boards. For example, I had quite a few disorientated POV shots in one of my
mood boards which could give the audience the idea that the character could be
feeling out of place and perplexed. This hints to the psychological side of my
genre. There are also lots of dark backgrounds with a flicker of light. This could
connotate hope to the audience and the idea that there is always a small amount
of light or good in a dark situation.
How will your mood board influence your final product?
My mood board will influence my final product a lot as I will use lots of the
conventions that I have shown in my mood boards such as the disorientated POV
shots, the different lighter sparks in the darkness and the locations and colours.
Using parts of my mood board will give a stronger impact on the audience and
also clearly show them the genre of the short film and how to react to different
characters and whether they conform to stereotypes to give the audience a more
diverse view of my product and the genre. This will all be done through the use of
POV props and location.
9. Informal Proposal
Current Idea
Concept The concept of my whole FMP is on the struggles with mental health such as PTSD
(post traumatic stress disorder) and how it can affect people in different ways. I will
show this to the audience by using different techniques such as flashbacks and
distorted POV shots. These techniques give the audience an insight into what it could
be like to live with a condition like this and how it would affect the character in
different ways and give them a more focused view on the condition.
Type of
products you
would make
I am planning to produce three products that all link into my main product. These
three products are, Short film, a poster for the short film and a DVD cover for the
short film.
What you will
need to make
them
I will need software such as, Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Premier Pro, Microsoft Word
and Microsoft PowerPoint. I will also need hardware such as, camera, drone, LED
light attachment, shotgun microphone, boom microphone and Tascam.
Audience My primary audience is, middle class, 15-24 year old males in the type A
psychographic. My secondary audience is high class, 24-44 year old females in the
Belonger and other psychographic.
10. Choices
Discounted ideas Reasons for not choosing this
project
Advert. • Didn’t have enough knowledge or ideas
on making an advert.
• Felt like I could get a better grade and
show my strengths a lot more by picking
another idea.
Magazine. • Felt as though I would have enjoyed
making a short film a lot more.
• Felt I could really push and show my
strengths a lot better by choosing to do a
short film.
