Costumes and Props
Amanda (Main Character) - Amanda will be dressed throughoutthe whole
shortfilm in stereotypical office work attire. This will mean that Amanda is
always dressed formally which will help to set the scene and providethe
setting with a clear time of day giving the audience a better understanding of
what is happening in the film and the actors age. The work attire will involvea
white blouse with black trousers and heels. I have asked my actor to wear this
as it will representthe fact that my actor is either going to or has justcome
fromwork due to the formaldress code. I will ask my actor to providetheir
own clothing that matches the description. The black and white clothing will
give a negative connotation as her clothing will represent the usual funeral
attire which will representwhatmight happen later on in the film. Amanda will
be using every day appliance such as toothbrush, cooking/eating equipment,
phone and a car so it gives the film a more believable, non-fictional feel to the
film. Another prop Amanda will be using is a knife, this is considered a main
prop as it provides a key moment as it is the plot twist. This prop gives
connotations that the actor is feeling under pressure or is an evil character in
the film.
Simon (Main Character) - Simon will be dressed as well throughoutthe whole
film in stereotypicalmale office work attire. This is because this will help offer
a view of the lifestyle within Amanda and Simon’s household as it represents
the fact both of them have officejobs. The fact they are both dressed for work
may help give a reason to the audience why they are being targeted by the
masked man as they clearly have a lot of money due to their clothes and house
value. Simon will be wearing a black suit with a blue shirtand smartblack
shoes. This once again will give negative connotations to the audience as it is
dark clothing helping to providethe tense feeling within the film. However it
may also give connotations that Simon isn’t the target for the mask man as he

isn’t dressed in funeral attire due to the shirtbeing blue instead of white. I will
be asking Simon to providethe clothing himself. Simon will be using props
which are related to his work life for example, a briefcasewhich will have
connotations of Simon’s formalnature.
Masked Man (Main character) - The masked man will be dressed in full black
with a white mask covering his face. The character will be in the same clothes
throughoutthe wholefilm which may give connotations that they aren’t very
wealthy as they don’t own very nice clothes. As the clothing will all be black
this will reduce the chance the audience can gain any emotional feeling
towards the masked man as his identity is never revealed. The fact that the
audience aren’t able to build an emotional relationship with the masked man
will represent the fact that they are the villain within the character. Again the
black coloured clothing with the white masks may give the audience
connotations that the actor is prepared for a funeral which will representthe
fact that there may be death within the film. I will ask the actor to supply the
plain black clothing although I will buy the mask for the man so I can find one
that represent the villain’s personality.

The black and white clothing will give a negative connotation as her clothing will represent the usual funeral attire which will representwhatmight happen later on in the film. Amanda will be using every day appliance such as toothbrush, cooking/eating equipment, phone and a car so it gives the film a more believable, non-fictional feel to the film. Another prop Amanda will be using is a knife, this is considered a main prop as it provides a key moment as it is the plot twist. This prop gives connotations that the actor is feeling under pressure or is an evil character in the film. Simon (Main Character) - Simon will be dressed as well throughoutthe whole film in stereotypicalmale office work attire. This is because this will help offer a view of the lifestyle within Amanda and Simon’s household as it represents the fact both of them have officejobs. The fact they are both dressed for work may help give a reason to the audience why they are being targeted by the masked man as they clearly have a lot of money due to their clothes and house value. Simon will be wearing a black suit with a blue shirtand smartblack shoes. This once again will give negative connotations to the audience as it is dark clothing helping to providethe tense feeling within the film. However it may also give connotations that Simon isn’t the target for the mask man as he
  • 2. BradleyVenn-Griffiths isn’t dressed in funeral attire due to the shirtbeing blue instead of white. I will be asking Simon to providethe clothing himself. Simon will be using props which are related to his work life for example, a briefcasewhich will have connotations of Simon’s formalnature. Masked Man (Main character) - The masked man will be dressed in full black with a white mask covering his face. The character will be in the same clothes throughoutthe wholefilm which may give connotations that they aren’t very wealthy as they don’t own very nice clothes. As the clothing will all be black this will reduce the chance the audience can gain any emotional feeling towards the masked man as his identity is never revealed. The fact that the audience aren’t able to build an emotional relationship with the masked man will represent the fact that they are the villain within the character. Again the black coloured clothing with the white masks may give the audience connotations that the actor is prepared for a funeral which will representthe fact that there may be death within the film. I will ask the actor to supply the plain black clothing although I will buy the mask for the man so I can find one that represent the villain’s personality.
