2. Born in 1960 (now aged 54)
An English artist mainly known for his
ceramic vases
Also known for cross dressing as his alter-ego
Claire
Perry's vases are decorated in bright colours,
and usually includes odd imagery that could
be considered offensive
Awarded the Turner Prize
4. Perry uses a
certain style of
fashion to
portray Claire's
colourful and
outrageous
personality.
She usually
wears Bo Peep
dresses
decorated with
phallic symbols
and stories of
Grayson’s
childhood teddy
bear, Alan
Measles.
5. His work would usually show a scene with people
interacting with each other. The characters are
drawn with a child like style, with the entire scene
decorated with a lot of bright vivid colour and
detailed patterns. In some of his pieces he would
also include text, such as speech bubbles of the
characters speaking. Again showing a story or event.
For my outcome focusing on the Hensel twins, I
could create a story of them using simple drawn
figures of them and adding speech bubbles.
6. He would also include found
images in his work to create
a mood.
I find that this gives it more
of a collage appearance as it
contrasts against the
patterns and sketchy figures.
I could use photo transfer
paper to copy images of the
Hensel twins onto fabric.
