  4. 4. Ted Harrison (1926- )“Ted Harrison was born inEngland in 1926. He movedto Canada and took ateaching position in theYukon after responding to anad stating “come teach in theland of the moose. Weaklingsneed not apply.” Harrison retired to Victoriawhere he continues to paintlively, colourful scenes of hisnew surroundings.”

  6. 6. Yukon First NationsFirst Nations people make up about 25percent of the total Yukon population,according to the 2006 Census.   9. 9. “Inukshuk”The mysterious stone figures known asinuksuit can be found throughoutNorthern Canada. Inukshuk, the singularof inuksuit, means "in the likeness of ahuman" in the Inuit language. They aremonuments made of stones that are usedby the Inuit for communication andsurvival. The traditional meaning of theinukshuk is "Someone was here" or "Youare on the right path.“The Inuit make inuksuit in different formsfor a variety of purposes: as navigationor directional aids, to mark a place ofrespect or memorial for a belovedperson, or to indicate migration routes orplaces where fish can be found.

  31. 31. Project: Class art e-book Class 1D and 1E – “A Spanish Alphabet” We will create an alphabet book similar to “ANorthern Alphabet” but about Spain! You must prepare a rough draft (coloured oruncoloured) before your final painting

You must create apiece of art using Harrison’s style and write asentence using as many words as possible thatstart with your letter. Write the sentence on the back of the painting. Iwill put all the pictures together and type yoursentences for our e-book.
