The document discusses how a hip-hop and R&B music magazine represents social groups. It represents working class audiences as many artists come from working class backgrounds. It aims to represent all ages and ethnic backgrounds by using diverse images of artists and models, varying styles of fonts and clothing, and neutral colors. The inclusion of a hijabi model and modestly dressed female models makes the magazine unique in representing different religious groups.

How a hip-hop magazine represents social groups
1. Q2: How does your media
product represent particular
social groups?
2. My magazine is created for a wide range of ages
who all have one thing in common and that is an
interest in hip-hop and R&B. hip-hop magazines
are aimed at two social groups and these are
working class backgrounds, this is because many
can relate to the artists as I found out that most
artists have come from a working class
background. Many magazines like XXL present
their audience through: clothing, language, price
and models.

3. The audience of certified can be shown in
the images of the front cover contents page
and DPS, with the use of bright effects and
variation of fonts. The audience can also be
shown in the clothing of the Cover Star. The
gender of the audience can be shown with
the images and sometimes this can be shown
by the number of male artist compared to
female artists and sometimes colours can
also be aimed at a certain gender and by
using neutral colours it can be aimed at both
4. The age of the audience is shown in the images of artists. Linking back to the
gender the closing of the artists can also represent the age of the cover star and
the audience. The clothing would also so that the magazine is aimed at a younger
audience or an older audience but also in which audience as adults dress like this.
The journalism of the DPS also adds on to the age of the audience because of
the Language style this is helpful for both and younger audience as they will be
able to understand the language in the journalism of the DPS. The social groups
of the audience is shown with the free product that is provided with the
magazine. The free product will grab more people's attention to those who are
not interested in spending a lot of money for music as albums are expensive to
some.

5. The range of ethnic background shows that my
magazine is open to all ethnic backgrounds and a
genre doesn’t need to link with ethnicity because
people have different views towards music. I
believe that no matter the genre, everyone is
welcome to anything and my magazine follows
that rule which is why I’ve chosen to keep my
music magazine open to everyone. The female
models are dressed modestly and are covered
also, the use of a hijabi is there because its
something different and its not something you
would come across in a normal music magazine.
I used a hijabi to keep it different from everyone
else and unique.
