2. Genre
The genre of my magazine is going to be alternative modern
rock, my reasons for this would be because that there is a
gap in the market for a alternative rock magazine genre.
I also believe that the alternative music genre is extremely
different and means going against a stereotype and being
your own person, which is extremely important for me due
to that fact that my magazine is for a individual target
audience.
3. Targeted Audience
My targeted audience for my magazine will be females, my reasons for this will be
because there are not many alternative music magazines that are suitable for
females, my examples of this will be because usually magazines in general use
conventions that are suited for stereotypes, for example within a colour
scheme shades of pink is used often within a feminine magazine and shades of
blue are often used for a male magazine.
Within my music magazine my targeted age group will be between 14-20, my
reasons for targetinga teenage group would be because in my opinion
alternative music becomes a lot more popular within thatthe age group that I
have chosen, this would be due to the fact that people of both gender stop
being stereotypes.
The type of people that I would want to read my alternative music magazine
would both genders that are extremely edgy, my reasons for this would be
because I plan to make my magazine extremely different and edgy, within the
alternative/indie genre
4. Unique Selling Point
• Free A3 poster from the artist who is being
interviewed, this would be a lot more eye
catching also the artist may be popular so a lot
of the targeted audience would want the free
large poster.
• The image on the poster will be a medium
shot of the artist standing looking extremely
independent and stylish.
5. Marketing
• Within my alternative magazine, I am planning to advertise
the magazine as much as possible my reasons for this would
be because that there is a very limited Gap within the market
for a alternative magazine genre , this would be due to the
fact that there are other alternative magazine Genres like ‘Q’
and ‘NME’
• When advertising Independence, I am planning to advertise
on television advertisements on popular teenage television
channels and in other magazines which have a similar genre
as my magazine
6. Publishers
• My publishing house is going to be Bauer, my reasons for this
is going to be because, I believe that there is a gap in the
market for my genre of magazine, even though Bauer has
already published ‘Q’ magazine ,I believe that the alternative
rock magazine that I have planned to use and ‘Q’ are
extremely different I many ways, some examples of this would
be that ‘Q’ magazine targets a lot more older consumers, the
magazine is also suitable for unisex, which is very different to
my magazine genre.
