1. In order to decide on a name for
our magazine that is popular
with our target audience, we
have created a survey using
Surveymonkey. The first
question was asking what the
gender was of the person
completing the survey. There
was a nice, almost even, divide
between the number of females
and males who took the survey.
12 were female and 13 were
male, which is a fairly equal
result and shows that the
results that we have gathered
are true of both a male and
female gender.
The second question asks that the
age is of the person completing the
survey. We had people aged 12 to
21 and older answer our survey,
however the majority of people
were 15 to 17 and 18 to 20 years
old. As our target audience is young
adults, around 17-20 years old, this
means that our niche audience has
answered the survey and therefore
the results will be more relevant.
We may have gotten more accurate
results for age if we had used
specific ages instead of age
brackets.
The final question is about which
magazine name the person
answering the survey finds the most
appealing. Overall the most popular
magazine name with 16 out of 25
votes is ‘REEL’. This is the same
result that we got for the magazine
name tally, so we will definitely be
using the name ‘REEL’.
The survey could’ve been improved
by adding a favourite movie genre
question. This would mean we could
see which name was favourite for
people who favour action films,
since our chosen genre is action.
2. In order to get more accurate results, we have
looked at our individual responses from our survey
and created a bar graph so that we know how many
females and males chose each name. Based on
previous research, we know that the action genre is
favoured more by males than females. This is why
our target audience is young males, who will most
likely enjoy action films and will be attracted to our
magazine cover. More males chose the name ‘REEL’
than females, therefore by using this title we will
hopefully be appealing to our target audience and
will ensure that we can attract a larger audience
through this decision.
Additionally, we have created a graph showing
which age groups chose which magazine titles. As I
said previously, our target audience is young adults
(around 17-20 years old). From this graph, we can
see that 15-17 year olds and 18-20 year olds favour
the name ‘REEL’ the most. This helps us because it
clearly shows that our target audience favour ‘REEL’
over the other options.
Overall, we can see that the magazine title ‘REEL’ is
the best name for us to choose because it is the
name that has appealed to our target audience the
most. Hopefully through using this name, we can
draw more attention to our magazine cover.
