Who would be the
audience for your media
product?
Question 4
Contacting audience
In the research and planning process, we made a survey for our audience so we can
get to know them a bit better. We could have easily gone with the conventions but
we wanted to get our own sources and refrain from assumptions.
I distributed the survey through many online media platforms, such as facebook,
twitter, whatsapp and instagram. The survey was online for 3 days before
proceeding with anylysis.
Results
1 Age
The survey targeted ages 12+.
We did not want to attract
audience under 12 because of the
film ideas we had in mind. We felt
it would not be suitable for
younger kids.
The conducted survey had 4
options to choose from. 12-
15, 16,19, 20,15, ad 26+

3 Conclusion
We concluded that our film will target
16-19 year olds since they seemed to
have showed interest in our survey
and our film plan.
Our secondary target audience are of
age 20+
We got no response from the under
15s so we will not be aiming our
product at them.
Results
1 Gender
Whilst constructing the survey,
we had no particular gender for
our film in mind. We were happy
to accommodate for both
genders. We decided to ask what
gender they were so we know
who responded to our survey and
pay more attention to them in the
construction phase.
2 Result 3 Conclusion
It is crystal clear that most of our
respondent are male, just over 80%.
We will not disregard female because
it is possible that the survey did not
reach them. We will consider both
genders but we might slant towards
the male gender since we heard more
from them.
More about our target audience
Large majority of our target audience do
not expect death in the opening sequence
The response regarding which sub thriller
genre they preferred varied enormously
Large number of our target audience could
not recall the last film they watched.
Many of them watch films once in awhile

● Age 16-19
● Male
● Like crime films
● Student
● Financially unstable
Secondary target audience
