Procedures
(2 minutes)
I will greet students and ask them what date is today.
I will show students some souvenirs I got from past holidays and I will ask them where
they think they are from (I could briefly tell an anecdote about a souvenir). Then I will ask
students if they remember a souvenir they got from their past holidays and I will ask them
if they want to tell a short anecdote.
Some souvenirs I could bring:
3. Transition: “Alright, let’s keep this in mind. We’re going to keep working with our dream
vacations”
I will tell students that they need to finish their holiday plans for today’s lesson. So, we will
check what we have planned so far and I will ask them: “Do you think you are ready to go
on vacation? Or do you think you need something else before”. I will elicit the fact that they
need to know what things they are going to take with them and when they will go (“is it
the same going to the artic in winter or summer?”). We could remember the 4 seasons
together and write them on the board.
Transition: “Ok, let’s get to work”
I will tell students to discuss in pairs and write all the necessary things for their trip and
think about the best season for their travel. I will provide an example of what they have to
do. In case I go on a sightseeing holiday in Rome I will probably need to take a camera
with me, the phone, a map, a bottle of water, etc. I will also choose the season taking into
the account the activities I want to do (I said I wanted to take photos, take a walk and buy
souvenirs, among other things), so in this case I will probably go on spring or summer.
_ “we are going to visit Rome in spring”
_ “we are going to take...
a phone, a camera, a map, clothes, a bottle of water...
After they finish this stage, I will ask them to think about souvenirs. I will ask them what
souvenirs they would like to bring from their holidays and take note of them (maybe a rock,
some seashells, crafts, new clothes, food, etc). I will write an example on the board.
_ “We are going to bring...”
chocolate, pictures, new clothes...
Transition: “Great ideas! I really liked your dream vacations”
Students will act as teachers for this activity. I will ask each pair to evaluate the plans of
the other groups by exchanging their holiday plans. They will give their opinion and
suggestions about it. “Do you like it? Do you think it is going to work? Is there something
missing? What can we add?” these are some of the questions I’m going to ask the
students in order to guide their reflection. Then students are going to rate the work of their
colleagues using this rubric:
