2. What I did and why?
I decided to create a digipak for the artist Katy Perry for her
album of ‘Prism’. I did this instead of recreating one to allow
myself to understand the conventions of a digipak and the
placement of all elements. Here I show the process of
production and how I improved certain aspects to enhance it
as well as adhere to the conventions.
This will help me when creating my own digipak for our artist’s
album as I will be aware of what to include and look out for.
4. Image manipulation
Before After
Here I used Photoshop to make the flower follow the pastel colour theme. I
added a white colour overlay at the opacity of 38%. I then stylised it using
the film grain and texturiser filter to enhance it further. This will be where the
5. Image selection
To create a background image
for two of the panels I used a
section from another photo and
made it into the square image.
I used this section
And created this
h
I flipped the images to create a
subtle rainbow effect that bleeds
onto the next page.
6. Template used
I used this template to help me with the placement of images and text. This
was also helpful as there was also fold lines which allowed me understand
where the spine would be.
7. Placement
I placed all of my
images here and
added the
background
gradient in order
to create a house
style and theme.
8. Typography
I added all the
copy which
included:
The artist’s
name
The album name
A thank you
section
The track list
The spine
(artists name
and album
name)
9. Analysis
From my
analysis, it was
brought to my
attention that I
had not put the
track list on the
back panel;
rather it was
inside.
There would also
be two spines
due to the folds
which I did not
include; rather
only used one.
I also did not add
any record label
information on
the back panel as
well as a
barcode.
