2. What is distribution?
Film distribution is the process of making a movie available for viewing by an
audience.
A distributor is an individual or organisation who will represent your film at
festivals and markets around the world and who will attempt to sell it to
television and other company's that show films.
How is a film distributed;
Film is produced by a production company, then its sent of to a distributer such
as Dream works. Then the distributers sells the film on e.g. through downloading
websites, TV, Cinemas, DVD ETC.
4. Our film
The sort of film opening sequence that we has produced is a low budget British
film. Our film is a Thriller and our production company is called Light Bulb
productions. As our production company is not very well known big distribution
company's might not want to take a risk.
So it would probably be through small British film distributers. But they can only
distribute though;
Social Network
Downloads
Company website
Youtube
5. Appealing to the UK audience
I think our film is going to appeal to a wide range of people in the UK, though
we are targeting young women aged 18-24, many people that don’t fit this
demographic will also be keen to see this film as there was also high
numbers of people of all ages going to see Thrillers. As it appeals to a wide
demographic I think this would help us with many distributers as they will
have a lot of people they can sell it to.
6. Marketing strategies, release strategies
and exhibition options

I think with our low budget film the best way of marketing our film is
through YouTube because of the reasons above. Marketing is very
important because it’s a crowded and competitive market for film . Other
strategies; Social Networking and Film Festivals.
7. Self distributions
Advantages
• Have full control and rights over
your film, giving you the
choice over where your film is
shown.
• You don't have to give a cut of
the money made from any
sales of your film to a
distributor.
Disadvantages
•Can be very time consuming
chasing buyers and sales and filling
in paperwork.
•Could limit your options for sales
as distributors have established
relationships with buyers and many
buyers may only be interested in
packages of films.
•Could be not signing away rights to
your film that'll prevent you from
showing it elsewhere.
