1. What kind of media institution
might distribute your media
product and why?

2. What is Distribution?
Film distribution is the process of making a film available for
viewing by an audience. ... For commercial projects, film
distribution is usually accompanied by film promotion. When
a film is initially produced, a feature film is often shown to
audiences in a movie theater.

4. Think about the sort of film you have produced. Compare this to
the type of films the distribution companies have released before –
are any of them likely to be interested in your film? Explain why.
• One company which I think would be interested in the short film that we have
produced is Paramount Pictures. This is because they’ve distributed films such
as, The Ring , Case 39 and Paranormal Activity. Our film would work well with
this company as we have the same genre of previous films (Supernatural thriller
or horror).
5. Our film would appeal to all
audience, not only in the UK,
this is because the genre of
Supernatural Thriller is very
popular worldwide and there’s
been a number of successful
films of this genre around the
world. Such as our influences,
The Ring and Paranormal
Activity.
Is your film going to appeal to UK audiences only? Or does
it have a wider appeal? Why? Why not?
6. Possible marketing strategies, release strategies and
exhibition options?
• To attract audiences the job of the distributors is to raise enough awareness and interest to the film
they are distributing.
• This can be done through a number of ways in the internet and in real life
• One of the most cost-effective marketing techniques is though a good trailer. These can be displayed
on YouTube, which has become extremely popular over the past few years for our target audience
age range, so there's a higher chance of teenagers viewing it. These can either be placed in the
advert slot of a different YouTube video, or as a single video itself. This trailer can also be placed
during advert breaks in common teenage programmes, for example, Two and a Half Men, Glee.
