2. INTRODUCTION:-
Vaginitis is also known as vulvovaginitis. It is
inflammation of the vagina and vulva. Symptoms may
include itching, burning, pain, discharge and bad smell.
3. DEFINITION:-
“an inflammation of the vagina that can result in discharge
,itching and pain.
“Vaginitis is usually caused by change in the normal balance of
vaginal bacteria and infection or reduced estrogen level after
menopause”.
6. CLINICAL MANIFESTATIONS:-
Unusual vaginal discharge
Change in amount of color and odor in vaginal discharge
Itching and irritation
Pain during intercourse
Pain in lower abdomen
Sore near the vaginal opening
9. NURSING MANAGEMENT:-
Encourage the patient to keep vaginal area clean and dry
Do not douche.
Avoid to use perfumed soap or vaginal deodorant spray.
Do not wear tight clothing.
Educate regarding practice of safe sex, use a male latex
condom.
Apply cold compress.
If patient use any diaphragm , cervical caps, make sure
clean them.
