Renal failure is a condition where the kidneys lose the ability to remove waste and balance fluids. It is defined as the kidneys stopping working and being unable to remove waste and extra water from the blood or keep body chemicals in balance. There are two types: acute or severe renal failure which happens suddenly, and chronic renal failure which develops over time.
