RESEARCH OBJECTIVE  To investigate how the addressee and function affects the code of choice of the participants in various occasions. INTRODUCTION
  3. 3.  General: Code switching is defined as the practice of selecting or altering linguistic elements so as to contextualize talk in interaction. Addressee:  1. An affective dimension to it: the choice of code carries symbolic meaning, that is, the language fits the message. (1)  2. The idea that linguistic form is affected by setting and participants as well as topic was influenced in part by Ervin-Tripp (1964). (2)  3. He argues that the relationship between the language and the social context is quite complex and that “participant immersed in the interaction itself are often quite unaware which code is used at any one time. Dian, the main lead female character which was played by Lisa Surihani Use : Conversational Malay Standard and Conversational English Azad, one of the lead male character which was played by Tomok Use: Conversational Malay Standard and Conversational English Standard Turkish Haris, the other lead male character which was played by Beto Kushairi Use; Conversational Malay Standard and Conversational English Standard Turkish
  7. 7. RESEARCH PROCEDURES Watch a movie Characters from the movie were chosen Lines with code- switch and code-mix were transcribed Data were collected from the movie. The data were tabulated into few tables. Findings were made based on data.

  12. 12. Based on the findings, the research questions proposed has been answered. The factors relating code switching and code mixing depend on many circumstances. Among those important factors are addressee and function. In conclusion, ADDRESSEE and FUNCTION play information factors in code switching between Malaysian Society in Turkey and Turkish society. CONCLUSIONS
