Early Philippine narratives reflect our
ancestors’ efforts to explain the origin
of things and show the culture and
beliefs of the society.
Long before the Spaniards came to the
Philippines, the Filipinos already had
their own culture.
4. WHY DO WE NEED TO STUDY PHILIPPINE
LITERATURE?
- to trace our rich heritage.
- for appreciation of our own culture /
heritage.
- to understand we have noble traditions
which can serve as the means to assimilate
other cultures.
