I love birdsandhave a big interestinthem, so
I’ll be heavily passionate aboutthe

joysthat come alongside it.A lotof people have
certainstigmaswhentheythinkof keepingapet
bird,so I hope thisshortdocumentarywill break
stereotypesorbringamore positive lighttothe
situationthatnotmany thinksof on a surface

My targetaudience will be teens andyoung
adults.Due to mytargetedage demographic,I
will tryto appeal tothemby using‘Netflix

however,I’ll trytogive myfinal producta light-
heartedandfunfeelingtoit.Ican achieve this
by subversionof expectationsandallowing
those I am interviewingtotalkaboutthe fun

thingsentertainingandfun.Birdsare
unpredictableanimalsthatcankeepyouon
your toesandI believe capturingtheir
unpredictabilitycouldhelpthe documentary
remainfunand interestingtoa youngadult and
late teenaudience.

to emphasise abird’s colourful feathersbutto
alsoallow the audience toperceive the
documentaryina happytone due to warm
colours’associationwithjoy.Tosummarise,my

mix moderndocumentaryconventionswitha
funand light-heartedtone tokeepthe audience
engagedandpresentsomethingfactual ina
entertainingway.

Both are in differentage ranges,one beingin
herlate teensandanotherin herlate 50s. I
believeinterviewing2people fromdifferentage
bracketswill allow forbetterexplorationof my
topicas I’ll be askingpeople fromdifferent
demographics.It’ll be interestingtocompare
the two andsee how much theirviewsand
beliefsdifferandcontrastto one another,but
alsoto see the similaritiesintheirviews.My
interview willbe acomparisonbetweenthe
youngerandoldergenerationof birdowners
and how/if theirbeliefsoverlap.Ibelieve this
will make fora much betterinterview and
overall documentaryexperience.

footage of the birdownersinteractingwiththeir
birdsalongside possiblerecordingsof the
locationandsurroundingarea whichwould

completelyoriginal asitgivesme complete
control overthe techniquesusedand
conventionsfollowedwithinmyfinal product.
Thisgivesme much more creative freedomin
my project. Itwill alsoallow forme topractice
several documentaryfilmingtechniqueswithin
my workto give me a betterunderstandingof
how I shouldeditmyprojectto look
professionalandofficial.

abouttheirbirds,funnyfactsor otherlight-
heartedaspectstoinclude inthe introduction.
Interview:Willprogressthe interview by
openingthe discussionabouttheirbird’shealth
and happiness,the ethical angle of keepingbirds
incages. Coulduse side byside clipsof the 2 pet
ownerstodirectlyandvisuallycontrasttheir
answers.Will ultimatelytrytoinclude some
