This is a presentation where we had to pitch our idea to the head teacher of the college, the slide itself only has notes and we explained in a lot more detail, this meant the pitch was 20 minutes long but we also got rewarded for this being the next pitch.

Chatwin
I am eager to create something to
be proud of and put my creative
mind to use in order to create a
great final piece that will also
broaden my skills and knowledge.
My comprehension of the horror
genre has significantly
developed and I hope to use my
innovation and understanding to
create something amazing.

3. Our Aims
• To create something which is unique but also
makes use of many conventions seen before in
Horror movies.
• To instil fear effectively whilst still having an
understandable story which is also believable.
• To make innovative and inspiring choices that
will better the overall product and cater to our
target audience.
4. Genre
The genre of our trailer is a Psychological Horror. This
is because we always liked the idea of being able to
mess with the thoughts of our characters and
experiment with ways of filming and editing to make
this look effective.
We also wanted to get into the minds of our audience
and make them constantly guess what is happening
throughout, therefore making them think about life as a
whole.
5. Target Audience - Age
• Our target audience aimed at people aged 16-34; this age
group will be more relatable to our trailer and characters.
• Our starting age is 16; students and people in part-time
employment. This age group should be most affected due to
their vivid imagination.
• Our ending age is 34; blue collar workers such as: builders,
mechanics and plumbers etc.
• 34+ are people that in theory aren’t affected emotionally by
horrors and would prefer something more subtle and
informative such as a documentary.
6. Target Audience - Jobs
• Group E is our primary target audience; unemployed and students
have a lot more spare time and would likely watch a horror at the
cinema which will allow the audience to have more of an
identification with the characters.
• Group D is our secondary audience; manual workers with an
average pay. Manual workers would likely go to the cinema on
occasion as a break from work. Their jobs are often very boring and
monotonous so they would want have a bit more excitement into
their day to day life.
• Group C2 is also our secondary target audience; blue collar
workers such as plumbers and carpenters. These jobs are better
payed in comparison to manual workers which means they have
more money to spend at places like the cinema.
7. Our Synopsis to
UNWRITTEN
When a book is discovered but has no story to
tell, a teenage boy is left to unveil the secrets
that lie deep within his past. Only one solution
stands between life and death, will he find the
answers he so desperately seeks or will this
curiosity lead to his demise?
8. Our Main Character
We decided the main character should be a male teenager
because this allows us to play with the emotions of our audience
which the majority is teenage boys; this also makes the
character relatable and therefore more believable.
We could also play with emotions of parents in the audience
who see changes in their children which this could also relate to.
Furthermore, in the trailer we don’t want to show the audience
what kind of background he comes from, this will keep them
interested in the trailer and also allow for us to constantly add
things in which could connote things to do with his religion,
social standing, wealth etc.
9. • Grey Hoodie
• Blue Jeans Hair Done
• White Trainers
We have had it so that he is wearing all black
because it shows that he is normal and that he
would fit in. They grey and blue are also very
tranquil colours, showing his personality.
Also, to clearly be able to show a change.
Costume – Jack Lawler – In control
10. • Black Hoodie
• Black Jeans Hair over face
• Black Trainers
We have had it so that he is wearing all black
because it shows connotes that he has some
relation to darkness and also that he is
mysterious and maybe trying to hide.

11. Locations
Castle Bromwich Hall Hotel Gardens
We plan to film the first 2 scenes of our trailer in the gardens of the hotel and also
the church which is connected to the gardens.
We want to film here because it would fit very well with the genre and the
atmosphere we want to create and it is also very quiet which will allow us to have a
lot of diegetic sound of the nature and wildlife.
We also wanted to film here because it looks very traditional and somewhere with a
lot of history, this would further add to the atmosphere and setting of the trailer and
we could use this to our advantage.
12. Locations
We have also decided to film in the school building because we want to
show that Jack, the main character, is a student and also the environment
that he is in everyday.
We also want to show how he changes throughout the trailer, we will do
this by having his friends worry about him and also show him becoming
very disinterested.
We will show he is a student by having him in a classroom and in the
middle of a lesson, but in the middle of the lesson he will be daydreaming
and hearing whispers, this is the first sign that something has happened to
him.
13. Main Props
In our trailer we plan to use small amount of props. This is because this
allows us to focus on the story behind these and also make many links to
the character and the locations which we are using.
• The first will be a book: we wanted to be unique and also to have the
characters and the objects very closely linked and have intertwining
stories. The book will also have links to religion which also further
links to the antagonist.
• The second prop will be a page: the page will have a quote from the
Bible (John 3:16), this is because this will also link closely to the spirit
that is also associated with religion and Jacks past.
14. Sound
Creaky Door
Nature
Whispers
Throughout the trailer we are going to have a
lot of sound effects and diegetic sound which
will be filmed in the locations we are using.
We have decided to record all of our sounds
ourselves because this would make them link
more to the setting and create a believable
atmosphere.
We have decided to use these three examples of
sounds primarily because these are very
conventional in horror movies and they will
instantly indicate the genre and setting we wish
to create.
