3. OBJECTIVES:
At the end of the lesson, the learners are
expected to:
1. Identify the basic tenets of major political
ideologies.
2. Differentiate the political ideologies.
3. Examine the relationship between political
ideologies and configuration of political
communities.
4. Ideologies are set of basic beliefs about the political,
economic, social, and cultural affairs held by the
majority of people within a society.
Political ideologies generally refers to a set of ideals,
principles, institution, or large group that explains
how society should work, and offers some political
and cultural blueprints for a certain social order.
A political ideology has 2 dimensions and that is
GOAL and METHODS.
All people are political thinkers.
5. Ideologies classified into 3 groups, the
anti-government ideologies, right-wing
ideologies, and the left-wing
ideologies.
I. Anti-Government Ideologies
It is a political ideology that literally
wants to abolish the government,
usually through violence and acts of
lawlessness.
6. Next is Nihilism, which glorifies
destruction as an end in itself,
rather than as a means to
overthrow the existing system or
rebuild society. They believe that
man exists for no purpose.
7. II. Right-Wing Ideologies
These are ideologies that oppose
change.
These type of ideologies is to have
order and peace.
One ideology falling to this end is
Monarchism. It wants to centralize
authority and political order to one
person.
8. Another ideology on this side is
Fascism, a totalitarian system led by
a great or charismatic leader together
with his political party.

The most powerful ideology of
the Right and most prevalent
one is Capitalism. Powerful
ideology and economically wise.

10. III. Ideologies to the left
Promote human beings to live together as
a whole without separations.
The main aim is to have social equality,
support those who are considered to be in
a disadvantage compared to others,
abolish the injustices about inequalities.
Socialism falling under this category,
mainly about government ownership and
reject the idea of individualism.
Another is Communism which most
people define as radical equality.
11. 1. Conservatism
This ideology rejects any kind of change or
reform to protect tradition or traditional politics
and society the central theme of this is to
conserve.
Conservatives argue that there is no
obligation to change the world because
human imperfection.(Stove 2003)
Authored Reflections on the French

“society is a complex web of relationships
among the past, present, and future.”
12. 2. LIBERALISM
Liberalism a political or social philosophy
advocating the freedom of the individual,
parliamentary systems of government, nonviolent
modification of political, social, or economic
institutions to assure unrestricted development in
all spheres of human endeavor, and governmental
guarantees of individual rights and civil liberties.
13. 3. SOCIALISM
The central theme of socialism is common
ownership. Everybody has the right to
participate in decision in global resources.
ELEMENTS OF SOCIALISM
1. Community
Human being as social creature.
2. Fraternity
People are bounded by brotherhood.
14. 3. Social Equality
Belief of the importance of equality above
other values.
4. Need
Material benefits should be distributed on
the basis of need rather than work.
5. Common ownership
To harness material goods to the benefits
of all individuals.
6. Social Class
The goal of socialist is to eradicate social
inequalities or just lessen it. (Haywood,
1997)
15. 4. Fascism
Fascism as a state, controls
everything, from the production of
resources, to finance and agriculture.
The main theme of these ideology is
having an organically unified national
community.
The true power of fascism is being
able to utilize the whole nation to work
together in catching the dream.
16. 5. FEMINISM
This political ideology focuses on the position of
women in society and the roles they play.
However, they also believe that improving the
status of women will also benefit all human
beings whatever their gender is.
17. 6. Environmentalism
This is very different from other ideology,
because its offer something very
different.
This ideology aims for the protection and
restoration of the environment, as well as
regulate man’s use of the environment.
The main goal is to take a stand against
industrialization. (Haywood, 1997).
