2. Image Experimenting
Default β from the internet
with no changes by myself.
Levels Effect β changed the
darker colours to be
prominent.
Levels + Hue/Saturation
Effect β balanced out the
levels effect by making it a
bit brighter but still a
sharp image.
Levels + Hue/Saturation +
Colour Balance Effect β
made the colour red more
prominent.
3. Text Experiment
Default β only changed the colour and font
Drop Shadow β added a purple coloured drop shadow.
Adding a shadow drop adds that little extra detail and
stands out well if put against a good background. I think
the use of a drop shadow can sometimes be over uses, so
doing it subtly works better.
Advanced Setting β made the spacing in between each word
smaller, so it is more compact. This effect would be good to
use for cover lines, so itβs not all spread across the page.
4. Sound Experiment β These are all the different sections that I used to make a intro song/menu
screen song - beep box is very easy to use, so whether I use the song I made first or change it I think I will
use it for one section of my video game, which will either be the menu screen, cut scene or test run level.
5. Pixel Art Experiment
Pixelart.com β this website is the best out of the ones I
have experimented with as it is easy to use and has a lot
of possibilities to mess around with, and create a good
pixel art animation. Working with the layers is easy to
use, and the animation runs smoothly so it doesn't look
that bad.
Dinopixel.com β this website is still quite easy
to use, but isnβt as good as pixelart.com. The
layers is easy to use, but doesn't have the little
features that the other one has, and I find this
one more difficult to be accurate.
Overall, I would use Photoshop if I was at college and knew I could get in done when at college, but I will most likely use
Pixelart.com; as I find out of the free pixel art websites this is the best one. Itβs not as good as Photoshop, however it is still
decent.
6. Photoshop Experiment
First of all I created the shape, and then added a second frame to the
timeline and moved the shape, so it looked like it was moving when it is
all put together.
Once I created enough frames to show the ball hitting the bottom of the
page and bouncing back up, I then added a second layer and made
another circle but squashed it down as seen in the top right picture. Once
that was created, I went on the frame where the ball hits the ground and
hid the layer so it had the effect of it bouncing.
As at the end it hits the top of the page, I repeated that step by creating
another layer and adding it to the frame at the end, so it creates the
effect throughout the animation that the ball is bouncing, and just hid
the other two layers but only for that frame.
7. Photoshop Experiment 2
First of all I created all the different layers I needed, which was the
ball, the 3 red rectangles and the 3 green rectangles. As the ball hits
the first red rectangle, I turned off the red triangle layer so the
green rectangle is underneath it; I also made another layer for
when the ball squashes down as it hits it. As the ball bounces off
the rectangle I turned the green rectangle and the squashed ball
layer off for the next frame, so it all connects smoothly; I then
repeated these steps for the other 2 rectangles.
8. Photoshop Experiment 3
To give the effect that the ball is moving I created a long document, as seen on the left, and made what a basic example
level would be like on a game. Once I had created the level concept, I copied it onto the normal size document and
created a frame, and then I dragged the layer to the end and created another layer, which allows me to select both
layers and click the tween button which creates a number of frames and shows your full level. So, I had to add the ball
and move it when it jumps and falls, but by using the long document it allows me to not have to move the ball
constantly.
9. Photoshop Experiment 4
I first made a walk cycle for my character to make it look realistic, and so I can practise making a character walk. After I made
the stickman walk through the mini level, I added a few zombies to get an idea of how I could make it work when I make my
level for my game; the design for this is very basic and I plan on adding more detail to the characters and the back/foreground
to make it more eye catching etc. However, the basis of the game is what I created, but it is going to be in more detail and
smoother when played.
