Working Title:
What is it called? This can change if you think of something better later
COVID: The pandemics impacts
Product’s Purpose:
What is the product’s purpose (entertain/educate etc.) and how will you achieve this?
My products purpose is to educate mainly but to also entertain, I will achieve this by
keeping my documentary captivating to maintain viewer attention and to also get the
message spread to the public about COVID-19 and how it is affecting the younger
generation as well as the older one. I will make sure to keep my documentary light in some
parts to in an aim to entertain and keep the attention of my viewers, I will attain this by
adding a contrast at certain points opposing the darker scenes with bright vibrant scenes.
Genre:
What sort of product is it?
A short film / documentary. I intend on creating a documentary looking into the lives of students
who are in the midst’s of the virus in this I will try and include a lot of forms of media and different
types of sub genres and genres. I am aiming on the documentary coming across as professional
as possible fitting the basic genre of documentaries. As a sub-genre of documentaries, I will be
also aiming to implement a type of home-made/student-made documentary featuring a lot of
handheld camera action. My product is a short film/trailer meaning that it will be short and sweet
for a couple of reasons one of which being: the shorter it is and the more inconspicuous the more
tension and build up there will be for the actual documentary.
Content
What is your product about? Discuss what you would put in it (be specific). Does it have a story? If
so, discuss it here
My product is about the coronavirus and the physical and mental toll it had on the younger
population as well as the older population. In my short film/documentary I am going to
include a range of topics covering COVID-19 such as addressing the death rate and the
impact that had on the world as well asthe impact the global pandemic had on the
economy, jobs etc. I would also like to cover how the world displayed distress and how we,
as a species recovered from this and how we are going to prevent it from happening again.
I do not have a story for this documentary apart from the beginning in which I will cover the
basic happenings and the occurrence of the virus, I will then go into the topic of how it has
mentally effected so many of our population. Following my last point, I will take the
documentary into interviews with people of a similar age to me, at this point I will be trying
to get as many camera angles and media specified mechanics into my project as possible
to give it the best looking aesthetic as possible.
Audience:
Who is your audience? Be very detailed; age, gender, social status, psychographic etc
Why would your project appeal to this person?
My target audience ranges from 16 upwards as this will vary some different responses and
effects of the pandemic such as the importance of schoolwork being finished as well as
examsleading up to people’s careers and full-time jobs, demonstrating the full impact the
virus has had on us all. The gender demographic I am aiming towards is not specified at all
because this has happened to every one of us in the past year making my documentary all
inclusive for all genders to be able to watch and enjoy. In terms of social status, I will be
aiming for people who are working class and above due to the fact the more lower-class
citizens have been affected by the pandemic as much as everyone else, further making my
documentary inclusive to all statuses and people of variable income. For my psychographic
I will be aiming for people with families and jobs as well aspeople who are in full time
education as these will be some of the main properties my short film will be covering

because of the fact this is one of the biggest things that have affected me during the
pandemic.
Legal & Ethical Considerations:
Think about any offensive material you will include? It may include content deemed as upsetting or
emotional but not offensive. I will make sure it is not offensive by checking it against an approved
list online for media to check that none of the content featured in my trailer is offensive to anybody
or any religion.
Will you restrict younger people using/accessing it? I will not be restricting this to younger people
as it will not include any material that is deemed offensive or upsetting for younger audiences as
well as doing this, I also will not be age restricting any other media I make regarding this film such
as posters which will be universally friendly to showcase how COVID has affected us.
Will it offend any social groups/religions/ethnicities? No, I will make sure it does not affect any
social groups or religions etc. I will do this by using politically correct language and holding no
culture appropriation and stereotypes towards certain groups or people which is what i will be
portraying through my documentary, that no matter your group or ethnicity we are all the same
now and we are all experiencing the same thing.
How will you ensure you do not offend anyone? By keeping my documentary deemed a rating of
PG, opening it up to different age categories bringing it more publicity and attention.
Are you using characters/names/logos of existing products/IPs? No everything I am using I have
either filmed myself or produced by myself, by doing this I am avoiding border lining copyright
infringement and I will avoid any lawsuits against my documentary and my FMP.
Will you product be sufficiently different from existing products to not get sued for copyright
infringement? Yes, I will not be using any existing logos or products in my film to avoid copyright
infringement as best as I can.
