Target Audience
Age – Given that I’m covering education as my main topic of interest for my documentary, it seems
necessary that I’m targeting people in the age range between 16 – 20 as my primary audience.
This is an obvious clarification given that people in these age boundaries will currently be
undergoing education at or between GCSE’s to university, meaning its directly relevant of
themselves as its about covid-19’s impact on them specifically, which makes it more the less
understanding and interesting given they’re most probably in such situations being mentioned.
Other than the fact that its about themselves, additional processes will be used to help target this
age group more specifically, as such with interviewing personnel’s in this category, keeping it short
and to the point, and ensuring its visually/audibly attentive and engaging.
As with this being a primary audience, its also present that other secondary audiences may be
equally as included to the documentary, more directly to parents or teachers in and around their
40’s; this is only possible as it may be relevant to themselves in some way, as such with parents
their kids, or teachers their profession is quoted and referred to in some circumstances.
Gender – Recognising that my topic is on education, it will be equally suiting to both genders as
they are both secluded around my topic of interest fairly. This is understood because both attend
schools, but given that this a documentary on education that would be uploaded and viewed upon
personal interest, it would seem a higher rate of females would watch it; this is because I strongly
believe women are more willing, ambitious and motivated to use their spare time on learning
further, whereas men are more lazy, and uninterested stereotypically when it comes to education.
To try and suit both audiences, and more importantly keep them interested, I will try use montages
and enrapturing audio soundtracks/sound effects more often (to suit males predominantly), whilst
also applying more cinematics reels, emotionally compelling techniques, and direct involvement
methods to benefit both genders (as emotional components is stereotypically associated to
females withholding motherly and gentleness traits).
Psychographics – Now regarding psychographics, it’s understandable to say that my
documentary is about change in the world and working around it to makes things better not just for
yourself but for everyone around you, therefore it seems mandatory to target the ‘socially
conscious type A’ psychographics. Being very concerned of your own actions, wanting to improve
the world, and responding to messages about making a difference, this psychographic is highly
suiting to my documentary on covid-19 and education; covering things such as methods put in
place to prevent another lockdown from this global pandemic, this is a direct corelation to ‘socially
conscious type A’ people, and to suit it ever more so, I will introduce a motivational aspect towards
the end when closing my documentary, which should thrive their interests and desires to make
amends and changes to the world.
It’s also worth mentioning that the ‘balanced/totally integrated’ psychographic people hold similar
traits against ‘socially conscious type A’, with relating to benefitting mankind; but being a mix of
‘Achievers’, they respond to concepts of success which is driven throughout my whole
documentary, especially given that I’ll be referring to long term impacts and the future with their
education and/or work. Therefore my product addresses a wider audience including these two
psychographics together and making changes in my documentary to correspond and flourish their
involvement further.
Geodemographic – Identifying that all my gathered facts, statistics and general information is in
corelation to the United Kingdom amongst the covid-19 and education topics, its widely
recommended and obvious that ill target people in and around England more specifically. With this
being recognised, it also makes production more seamless and flowing given that it targets myself,
fiends, and family that gives easy accessibility to many resources, information, possible interviews,

and process.
Rationale:
Over the course of the subject, I have broadened my knowledge, interests, and skills around the
media and some of my hobbies including moving image production; these consisting of
management, organisation, software skills, and thriving a greater enthusiasm/expertise upon the
media industry. Creating a numerous amount of products across a sparse variety of options, I had
produced many video (film, music, animation), audio (podcasts, narration), and print (magazines,
posters, leaflets) based products that have helped myself flourish in a multitude of practises. Its
present that a lot of practical work had been accomplished, but theory alongside aided my ability in
an abundance of additional dexterity’s.
Using these skills gathered, I assure you that I’ll progress to improve some of my own faults, as
such with time management, and continue to work more efficiently, in higher detail, and exceed my
abilities from the knowledge I have accumulated across my years in education.
Project Concept:
As part of my factual project, I am going to create a short documentary based around the impacts
covid-19 has had on pupils and students across a range of ages in their education, from as young
as primary school up until university. This will be an approximately 5 – 8 minuet documentary
which will reflect the different lifestyles, effects, current situations, and long-term impacts covid-19
has inflicted on these students/pupils. Ideally reflecting an emotional, sympathetic background, I
will represent these different ideals in a ‘mixed’ style/genre, more specifically using the ‘essayistic’,
‘observational’, ‘dramatization’, ‘poetic’, and ‘interview’ styles. I shall additionally include a variety
of different techniques and/or methods in correlation to stereotypical attributes that are present in
documentary’s to help conform to expectations amongst them, but to also concoct something
unique and interesting that differs and grabs the attention of my viewers non-the-less.
I will conduct thorough research to help support my documentaries production, fulfilling an analysis
on other existing products, content around the main topic of inquiry, colour schemes, techniques,
methods, particular reoccurring themes in this product, and audio implementations (as such with
soundtracks, diegetic/non-diegetic sounds, and narration). Applying some of my own knowledge,
with the research I’ve executed, should help create and influence my final product accordingly,
devising what should hopefully be a very professionally develop, constructed, and accomplished
short documentary.
How will the project be evaluated and reviewed:
After completion of the product comes my evaluation, here I will assess all of my work, frequently
addressing the different techniques, features, and decisions I had made amongst existing products
and other pieces of work produced by myself to help identify, and establish the differences and or
improvements. I will also sustain a consistent use of ‘thoughts and feelings’, ‘methods/tools used’,
‘what I have done’, and ‘how I would improve’ to each aspect.

Week Specific Tasks
1 Production [in/out?]
2 Production [in/out?]
3 Production [in/out?]
4 Production [in/out?]
Be aware which of those weeks are in or out of college,as you may need to plan different tasks around other
work when workingremotely. Budget for approximately 30 hours for production – which is roughly two weeks
of your in collegetime.
