1. Proposal
1
Working Title:
- My magazine will be called Bom Apetite which is a Portuguese version of Bon Appetite. I
chose this name because I think it makes the magazine interesting and also because the
Bon Appetite magazine already exist so I wanted something unique.
Audience:
- My product will appeal all that is interested in learning how to cook different recipes;
female adults aged 18-45 might be more interested in reading this magazine because it is
a culinary magazine, the content that I’m planning to include in the magazine cover and in
the double page spread might catch the female’s attention than male. However, males are
also interested in culinary by having loads of male chefs around the world, from this I can
make sure that my product will appeal all genders, for that I will try to make the article in
informal language so that the recipe could be easy and understandable for the audience.
- The social class are graded between D, C1, B. My product won’t be expensive so this
means that everyone who is interested could have access to buy/read the magazine. The
magazine could also be available online because on this days everyone has a phone so
this might increase the magazine’s readers which in my opinion is quite low.
- My product is part of Type A in Psychographic; I’m concerned about my actions so that I
will ensure that my product won’t have any inappropriate content that could be offensive
for the audience.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
- I decided to produce the culinary magazine to increase my skills in print media. I will have
more skills by cooking all the recipes that I chose to take the pictures. The Brazilian foods
were easy for me to cook because I have more experience in those specific foods and I
know that this could make the audience interested in buying the magazine to learn how to
cook traditional Brazilian desserts. In my past projects, I learned how to create the layout
so that magazine could look professional. This improved my Photoshop skills of editing the
images and how to make adjustments in the images’ lights.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
- The concept of my project is a culinary magazine where in this edition will have Brazilian
recipes in the double page spread. The idea of this is to show the audience easy delicious
recipes from different countries; I chose Brazilian food because I will be able to cook and
so that I could take the pictures and write the recipe that I know well the specific
ingredients and the way that I made them so that I could explain into words how I did that
in the article. The recipes are quite easy to cook. In the article, I will include the time that I
will spend making each recipe and for how many people the food could be served. These
important bits will make the double page spread look interesting for the audience because
of the way that it will be giving all information that the reader need to cook that specific
dessert.
- I will have to research on existing products and this will help me ensure that I’m not coping
any existing product and make the magazine even more interesting because of the
different masthead and content that is really rare to find in UK. This will also help me to
collect some ideas of different cover lines that will catch the audience’s attention to
read/buy the magazine.
Evaluation (approx. 50 words)
- For this project, I could ask my audience’s opinion about the magazine cover and double
page spread which will help me to know what need to be improved in the future. Another
way of evaluate my work is comparing it with existing products that I inspired me to
produce the magazine in this specific genre.
