6. The masthead allows
readers to get a grasp on
what my magazine is about.
The publishing date allows
the readers to be aware of
what season it is.
My main cover line let’s
readers know what the
feature article of my
magazine is about and my
final cover line lets readers
know the location that my
magazine focuses on.
7. My masthead is present
to let the reader know it
is magazine is about.
The contents logo refers
to this being the Table of
Contents page and again,
the publish date lets the
reader know the season.
I separated my TOC into
three different sections
based on category. I
created a visual structure
using lines to format my
TOC to be clean and easy.
8. I used the tag
restaurants so that
readers know what
section of the
magazine his
article is in. I used
a tagline to give
readers insight of
what my article
was about. In order
to appeal to my
audience, I used
pops of Hot Pink
and Teal to catch
the attention of
readers. I also
involved a lot of
pictures so that
readers wouldn’t
be “bored” with just
a story, they have
a lot of visual
9. #2 How does your product engage with
audiences and how would it be distributed
as a real media text?
10. #2 HOW DOES YOUR PRODUCT ENGAGE WITH
AUDIENCES AND HOW WOULD IT BE
DISTRIBUTED AS A REAL MEDIA TEXT?
To brand my magazine for my target audience
thorough the use of vivid colors. I used mostly boxy
text and some cursive to create a “modern day”
feel. I engaged and attracted my audience to my
magazine by using unique fonts and pictures of
delicious food (because honestly, who can pass up
a magazine with pictures of mouth watering food?)
Someone would want to buy my magazine in order
to get review’s on South Florida’s hottest restaurant
or also to get extremely delicious recopies.
11. #2 HOW DOES YOUR PRODUCT ENGAGE WITH
AUDIENCES AND HOW WOULD IT BE
DISTRIBUTED AS A REAL MEDIA TEXT?
What is universally liked by all people? Food. People
are generally attracted to delicious food pictures and
that’s why this magazine would do well on market.
SOFLO EATS is unique because it caters directly to
the area of South Florida. Not only does this
magazine appeal to those interested in recipes but it
also provides reviews on restaurants. Therefore, this
magazine is well rounded in the area of cuisine and
would definitely dominate the Food & drink magazine
genre. Time magazine published recipe magazine but
they do not yet offer a magazine based on restaurant
reviews.
12. # 3 HOW DID YOUR PRODUCTION SKILLS
DEVELOP THROUGHOUT THIS PROJECT?
Rough Draft: I changed genre’s after my first draft and continued to lean to
a more minimalistic look in order to appeal to reader’s eyes. I started
using more eye catching colors and utilizing “white” space in my final
draft.
13. Rough drafts: I decided to continue improving by
using more white space to create a cleaner cut
look.
14. Rough drafts:
I made little changes to
this spread because I
was please with the
layout beforehand.
15. # 3 HOW DID YOUR PRODUCTION SKILLS
DEVELOP THROUGHOUT THIS PROJECT?
As the year progressed, I became more and more
comfortable with Photoshop. However, I felt so
much more comfortable going with InDesign when
we first began using it because I’m a very
organized person and InDesign offered gridlines
unlike Photoshop.
16. 4. HOW DID YOU INTEGRATE TECHNOLOGIES –
SOFTWARE, HARDWARE AND ONLINE – IN THIS
PROJECT?
I used an HP computer for all my projects. I used
Photoshop, InDesign , Word and used online sites
such as EDUBLOGS, Prezi and Piktochart to
create my final project.
