Audience:
After lots of planning, I have decided what age group, gender and social status is most likely to
watch my short film. I believe the age group will be of a younger audience as I have studied similar
films, and have discovered that people under the age of 18 have given higher ratings than people
over the age of 45. I also believe my film will be gender neutral as again, after studying ratings I
have seen that both genders have very similar ratings on very similar films. Finally, I also believe
my film will promote to people who have financial means to access media devices to ensure they
can watch it my short film.
Rationale (approx. 100 words)
From the beginning of my course in early September, to this present day in late November, I
believe I have progressed incredibly in the space of 2 months. I have most importantly learnt how
to use applications such as Photo-shop and Premiere to help me proceed through rotations such
as my current. I was inspired to choose my storyline, as I understand it involves lots of Premiere to
succeed and I want to test my ability as I previously used this application many times in my
introduction to the course. To succeed in this short film would also prove how much I have
personally succeeded since joining college.
Project Concept (approx. 200 words)
I have recently planned my short film and have come to a conclusion on what I intend on creating.
The story will start in a busy location, focuses on a man on his way to work with a briefcase in his
hand. Before taking the public transport to work he decides to top in a local café for some
breakfast. He continuously complains to members of staff on how disgraceful he believes the food
is that he has been served. One member of staff is that disgusted by the mans attitude that she
decides to place a sticky bomb on the mans briefcase. But when he sees his bus drive past the
window he forgets his briefcase. But will the bomb go off before in the café before he arrives back
to pick his briefcase up? But to ensure it’s successful I will have to conduct research online to help
me. This will include different aspects of cinematography so that I can produce different camera
shots to help increase the intensity of each scene. I will also research the importance of Mise-en-
scene so that I can also apply features to help make the audience think about what’s happening in
my short film.
Production Techniques (approx. 150 words)
The first process I would like to apply is the camera layout. What I mean by this, is that in certain
scenes I would like to apply first person perspective to increase the intensity of the short film. I
could possibly apply this in scenes such as the explosion to show the audience what it would feel
like to witness. I can apply this by strapping a camera to a helmet or chest to present the first
person view. The second production technique I would like to apply to my work is music and sound
effects. I can apply this feature by simply using garage band. The reason I would like to use this
production technique is because it can increase the intensity of a scene by slowly building it up.
Finally, I would like to apply colour gradients to increase/decrease the brightness and colour of a
scene. This can be done through the use of RGB curves on premiere. The reason I would like to
use these is because it can help the audience decide what will happen next through the use of
colours.
Evaluation
I will evaluate my final production by thinking of techniques I could use for future references. This may
include the props and devices that are being used,as I already know that I will be unable to use GoPro
cameras, as they aren’t available at college. I will also be aware that the college is a very busy location and
that people will be walking past severaltimes in the process of filming, will may be very time consuming.
