1. The media product that I have created is a parody of serious, contagion, drama
trailers. I looked at a film trailer from ‘contagion’ as this was one of my main focuses
to parody. Parts that I took from this are for example the emotional side of the film
and how things like this effect people. I have tried to portray the emotions of my
characters in relation to those in the non-parody versions. However, I have made sure
that it is shown, through the camera shots being close up and also through the use of
intense music that it has all been emphasised. I have done this to show an over the
top reaction to life experiences. As you can see below I have taken two shots; one
from my own trailer (Bless You) and another from contagion. Although the setting is
very different, the overall meaning is the same, showing the emotional path of the
actors and how they deal with this through anger and upset.
2. In my piece of media I have used and developed on the idea of setting, I have used
as many different settings as possible, as other real media products do. However, I
have watched and analysed multiple film trailers, although each of them show a
range of scenery, I have challenged this and pushed it forward to a new amount. I
have gone from English countryside shots, to the New York skyline. This adds to the
idea of a parody trailer as I have implemented as many different sceneries as
possible, making it look ridiculous and out of control. It was also a technique used in
contagion where they showed the disease spreading.
3. When I completed my poster and front cover I took into consideration the overall
theme of my film trailer. However, after doing so I then began the production of my
trailer and added in pieces which I didn’t originally intend on doing so. Although this
was the case, I still feel that the two ancillary tasks link well to my main product. I feel
that they are both an interesting part of my work. I have gone for a simplistic look to
the two ancillary tasks creating an intriguing and mysterious look to my trailer. I also
used a house style as a way to tie my tasks together- as the story of my film was a
parody on sneezing I added this in to my film poster and magazine by adding in

I decided to keep a minimalistic
viewing of my two ancillaries so
that not too much is given away
about the film, keeping excitement
and intrigue around the trailer,
upholding the mystery and possible
greatness of the film.
4. Being given audience feedback allowed me to see what was
missing from my media piece, but also what I had done well. It
showed me what I should change and also what I shouldn’t.
For example a piece of feedback was a simple as adding a
question mark or the end of a title, however, another was said
to include another location to the video to make sure my idea
of a spread of contagion came across effectively. Being given
two different types of feedback gave me confidence in my
work but also allowed me to make effective changes to the
piece.
5. I used a range of media technologies, for example photo shop was
persistently used to update my ancillary tasks and make sure they
were coming on in the way I had vision. I also used windows movie
maker to begin with whilst making my trailer. However, after doing
so, I realised that this software was not effective and it didn’t make
my movie trailer to how I wanted it. I then looked into imovie and this
was much more effective in the work I was looking to do. It allowed
me to implement music in a simple way. Whilst doing so I was also
playing around on adobe after effects, this allowed me to create a
credits list in a professional way and also link each scene into one
another with appropriate fading and jump shots. I used an iPhone 4s
as it record in HD which is the industry standard for quality. If I had
filmed it in a lower quality my audience may not have given it the
attention it needed and therefore there would have been less people
going to see it in the cinema.
