Question 7 What have I learnt from the preliminary task to the finished products?
Planning & Preparation  Preliminary Task     In the preliminary task I did very little planning having only made a storyboard, script and shot list. We failed to set out and create a time plan which in the end set us back as we failed to meet the deadline.
Planning & Preparation  Finished Product     When it came to the main task I took the time to create a time plan, this would help me set out dates of when tasks should be undertook and helped me keep organised . This allowed  me to film early, which helped when I decided to re-film my production as I had enough extra time to edit it.
Planning & Preparation  I  took the time in the main task to brainstorm, this creating a mind map of all my ideas
I then branched off into certain ideas and researched  them such as Film  Nior . I also undertook audience profile interviews to see what my audience wanted from my text and how I could provide this. This all aiding in the well  thought out end product
Conventions of A film Sequence In the preliminary task, I did not have a genre so I did not have much of a vision. However in my main task I had a genre. To understand the conventions of my film genre I studied two films of the same genre’s title sequences and wrote an essay on each. This helped me to indentify key elements which placed them into the genre and gave me ideas on how to further develop my own title sequence.
For example, I studied the title sequence of Lock, Stock and Two Loaded Barrels. From this I knew what my cast should look like , appearance wise and how I could connote the gangster/crime genre through the  use of sepia lighting.
Camera Skills Preliminary Task    When we did the preliminary task, all the camera equipment was new to me and I had to learn how to use this to create such camera skills as framing and lighting.
Camera Skills When it came to the main task I knew how to use the equipment as well as use camera skills to my advantage. This I understood such key  skills as framing and rule of  3rd , the use  of lighting to create a mood and the use of costume to represent a certain group or social class.
Post Production Skills Preliminary Task During the post production stages of the preliminary task I was overwhelmed with the new technology ‘Adobe Premier Pro’ and found it hard to use, this letting my group partner edit most of the film while I gave more of the instructions and took a ‘armchair’ approach, this disadvantaged me when it came to the main task.
Post Production Skills When it came to the main task , I was working alone and had to solely edit the film which was throwing me in the deep end. With practise I had mastered editing and had learnt new techniques such as adding titles, fading in and out, use of sound effects as well as the use of special effects such as a darker lighting tone which I added in the editing process.
Biggest thing I have Learnt! Fitting my product for a target audience! I have learnt that it is important you relate your product to the target audience and is probably the most important part of the  film industry.  I learnt that camera skills, audience research and good planning would create a piece of media which is seen as good and attractive in the eyes of my target audience.
I have learnt how important a target audience is in any media product and I feel this will help me in the future. I may look at media texts in a different way. This task has taught me how to use the internet and social networking to my advantage as well as how to develop my use of media technology.
