2. Style sheet – Colour Schemes
• Main Colours
• Possible Colours
• Will not be included
• Black, grey and white are the colors that will be used the most throughout my magazine. I believe this because my
text will be presented in black, my pages will presented in white and finally most images will also include these 3
neutral colours.
• The colors red, orange and blue will also be used throughout my magazine as they bring the magazine alive and
help appeal to my audience, especially as they are very masculine colours. I also know these colours will run
through several different images I have planned to include.
• Finally I will not be using the colours brown, yellow and green. The reason I will not be using yellow is because I
believe it is too vibrant, whilst I believe applying brown and dark green to a magazine that already includes black,
white and grey makes it too bland. Also I have no intentions on applying any images that include these 3 colors.
• Overall I am very happy with the colors I have included I will be using throughout my production as they are very
similar to the colors presented in other existing magazines that link closely to mine. I am also happy with the colors I
am using as I believe they work brilliantly together, as seen above.

3. Style sheet – Fonts
• My next style sheet will consist on lots of different fonts that will be used throughout my magazine. I believe I have come
to the decision I will be using the Coco Gothic font in my heading, which is presented on the bottom left, whilst the fonts
on the right are what I will be using throughout my articles.
• After looking through several different fonts I stumbled across ‘old school’, which included lots of fonts I will include in my
headings and title, which can be seen on the left of the page. After that, I started looking for fonts that I could use for my
text throughout the magazine. My intentions were to have bold but also very basic text to correlate with the rest of my
magazine, which can also be seen above. Although they don’t look very different to the naked eye, the images above show
4 different fonts. However, due to how similar they are this hopefully indicates what style of font I am applying.
• The reason I decided to include these fonts is because it looks very similar to magazines produced by Hype Beast, which is
the company which inspired me to create my magazine. I also believe the design itself looks very crisp and professional.
• Overall I am very happy with the fonts I will be including in my final product as I was very limited to what I could include, in
comparison to other companies who have bought individual fonts. I also believe they will work perfectly with the
simplicity of my magazine. The Masthead will be presented in the first font, whilst the articles within my articles will be
presented in the final font presented on the right hand side.

4. Style sheet – Image Styles
• The next style sheet I will be creating will be focused on image styles. In the images above we can see two different image effects
that have been used in music videos and magazines.
• The first two photos (left and middle top) have applied my favorite effect. The effect makes the images look extremely old school, as
it looks very similar to images you would see taken on a camera between the 80s-90s. I believe they have applied this effect by
fading the original colours used in the image, which I can also apply through Photoshop. This effect will be applied throughout
several different photos in my Hip hop and skateboarding section as they both show indications of being old school also.
• Whilst the other two images (right and bottom middle) also use effects that I will be applying throughout my magazine. Both photos
show the effects of Psychedelic drugs. The reason why I would like to apply this effect is because it often uses a contrast of colours,
so that the dark shades help the bright shades of colour stand out even more. It is also often associated with Hip Hop and would
work very well in my music article.

5. Layout 1 – Magazine Cover
• My first layout design shows where I will be placing images and text across my magazine cover. The first image shows the template I will
be using and the second image shows the template with concept text and images in place of the final images I will use.
• As we can see, I will place one large image in the center of my cover that will focus on fashion. I will then apply a small text box
underneath broadly explaining what the magazine will include. The barcode will be placed in the bottom corner on the right side of my
magazine whilst I will also apply a small/ logo in the corner which will resemble my magazine.
• The reason I have decided to present my magazine in this format is due to the simplicity it advertises to my audience, just like many
other magazines similar to mine, I.E Hype Beast and Highsnobiety. I also decided to present my magazine in this format as it looks very
clean and crisp as the presentation is a very important factor to me and hopefully my audience also.
• I applied Images and text to my cover to indicate to my audience what my magazine will include as magazines can often be misjudged. I
also applied large images as it can often appeal to collectors who like the fashion and music aspects included throughout my magazine.
• Overall I am very happy with my layout and it will 100% be used in my final production. The reason why I am happy with my layout is
because it resembles exiting magazines as mentioned previously. I am also very happy with my layout as it is presented exactly how I
intended throughout Research and Production Experiments.

6. Layout 2 – Two Page Spread
• For my second layout design I have created a variety of double page spreads to indicate where I will be placing my text and images
throughout each page. The images above show the first two designs that will be included in my magazine.
• From the first design shown on the left, we can see 1 large image placed on the left page and a large heading alongside a small
article on the right page. The reason why I have decided to include this layout is because my audience will hopefully analyze the
image before the text, giving them their own conception on the images meaning. I will also be using this layout as it includes a lot
of white space on the second page, which often reoccurs throughout existing magazines similar to mine. This helps the
presentation of the magazine.
• The second image shown on the right shows my second two – page spread layout, which includes several different images and
text. The reason I have decided to include this design is because it’s very unique, which helps grab the attention of my audience.
This can be seen through the text running through the margin on my magazine, which is also used very frequently in HighSnobiety
magazines. I also included this layout as it helps prevent my articles from being too long, as there will be one placed in each corner
of the double page spread to break it up.
• Overall I am very happy with my first two double page spread layouts that will be included in my magazine. The reason why I am
very happy is because it has helped me visualize exactly how my magazine will be presented. It is also very similar to existing
magazines but also shows aspects of being unique too.

7. Layout 2.1 – Two Page Spread
• I have also created another two double page spread layouts that will be included alongside two shown in the previous slide in my
final production.
• The first design shows a large image placed across both pages with the article underneath also covering both pages. The reason I
have decided to chose this design is because I believe landscape photos can often tell the readers more about the photo in
comparison to portrait, so what better way to use one than across two pages? I also believe that by applying my article in the same
format it will help both work together very effectively.
• The final two page spread I will be applying in my magazine is shown on the right. We can see in this photo that I have placed 2 small
images on the left page and 1 large image on the right. The reason why I have used this layout is because in my previous 3 designs
the images on each page resembled in size, so for my final page I wanted to use a variety of different sized images so that my designs
weren’t too similar.
• Overall I am very happy with each layout design as I believe they will work perfectly with the content I will include. The only
alteration I will be making from the images shown in the previous three slides is the placement of images on my final layout design,
shown above. The two images shown on the left page will be placed under each other, not across. Most of the inspiration I took
whilst creating my magazine layouts was from existing magazines such as Hype Beast, Highsnobiety, Thrasher and PAPER. The reason
why I decided to take inspiration from these existing magazines is because not only do they include the same content, they also
present their magazines very similar to how I wanted mine to be presented, which can be seen throughout each layout.

8. Layout 3 - Website
• The two images I have included on this slide will
show I will be presenting my magazine.
• The first layout shown on the top image shows
how my home screen will be presented on my
website. The reason I have decided to include
this is because a large image/video is a very
effective introduction to a website as it gives my
audience a feel for what can be expected
throughout each section. Also it has room for a
very large heading which will help advertise my
magazine also.
• The next image shows a rough idea on how my
next section will be presented on my website.
The reason I have decided to use this is because
it has a very close connection with my magazine
through the use of images and text, which can be
seen through the black and white presentation
and also the text bleeding through the images.
• Overall I am very happy with the first two layouts
I will be including in my website. The reason why
is because the images shown can be presented
perfectly with my replacements as they look
relatively similar. There is also lots of room to
apply more features onto both web pages.

9. Layout 3.1 - Website
• These two images show the next layouts I
will be using in my website after some slight
alterations to the Wix design.
• The first image shown at the top is the 3rd
layout I will be using in my website. The
reason I have decided to include a blog
inside my website is because many people
are inspired from what they read through
magazines, so my blog will include
attachments and website links to some of
the items shown throughout.
• The second image shows the final layout
design I will be using in my website. This
web page is very important as it contains
some items that I will be designing myself.
The reason why I chose this design was
because I like the simplicity of the layout as
some shops that include too much
information often come across very
unprofessional. However, I will have to
ensure that I don’t make my website public
as I will not actually be selling the items, it
will just be a design for my project.
• Overall I am very happy with my layouts for
my website as they link very closely to my
magazine layouts due to the colors, images
and fonts presented. I am also very happy
with my website layouts as they look very
professional and don’t need to be altered
too much to look perfect for my magazine.

11. Contingency Planning
Potential Issue Solution
The first potential issue I could face is losing all
my work on the MacBook if it was to break
unexpectedly
To resolve this issue, I ensure that I save all my
work on Blogger and my main email, so it can
be accessed on other devices.
The second potential issue I could possibly face
is the unavailability of classmates the day I hired
the Green Screen Room
If classmates are unavailable, I will reschedule
my date for the Green Screen Room.
The third issue I could possibly face is not
completing my work before the deadline day.
If it is clear that I am not on track, I will
complete my work whilst I am at home to
ensure it is finished in time.
The fourth issue I could possibly face is the
camera not working, which would prevent us
from taking photos for my magazine.
If this did happen, I would inform my tutor.
After this I would either use the same camera if
repaired or a different one that was working
The fifth issue I could possibly face is if I am
unavailable myself due to illness, which would
prevent me from attending college.
If I was ill myself, my work could be accessed
through blogger and and my email as
mentioned earlier. This would mean that I could
complete my work at home to keep on track.
The final issue I could face is if my friends
outside of college are unable to send me
images of their clothing for my magazine
If they are unable to send me images in time, I
will take more images of my own clothing, or I
could ask other friends so I have a wider range.

12. Health and Safety
Potential Issue How will the issue be
avoided?
The first health and safety issue could be if I
have food or water close to the Macbook in
case it spilt onto the wires.
I will avoid this issue by placing my food and
drinks inside my bag which will be placed under
the desk. This ensures it won’t be in contact
with the Macbook.
The second healthy and safety issue I could
face is burning myself on the lights in the green
screen room.
In order to prevent this I will make sure that I
only touch the switch and will turn it off as soon
as I have finished using them so they can cool
down.
The next health and safety issue I could face is
receiving a headache from looking at my
computer screen all day.
To prevent receiving a headache I ensure that I
place the Macbook on low brightness and try to
prevent looking at screens on my breaks.
The fourth health and safety issue I could
possibly face is tripping over computer chairs
whilst approaching the computer
To prevent this I will ensure I place my chair
under the desk and will also watch where I am
going when approaching the Macbook.
The fifth health and safety issue I could
possibly face is damaging my vision through the
flash on the camera whilst photos are being
taken.
To prevent this I will ensure that photos where
I look at the camera are taken without flash.
However, I believe if I am looking away from the
camera it shouldn’t be an issue.
The final potential health and safety issue I
could face is cramp from sitting down for too
long.
To prevent this I ensure that I stand up every
break time and try to walk as much as I possibly
can to prevent receiving cramp.
