2. Appealing to target audience
• In order to create a successful media text it has to have an audience
(consumer) who are interested in the genre and are willing to purchase.
Finding this target audience is key to the success of the marketing of the
product and to create the right buzz/hype for the piece. The target audience
is a particular group the production of the piece is aimed at. In order to
identify the target audience we had to communicate with the general
public. I did this via a survey monkey survey.
3. Demographic questions.
• First I asked demographic questions in order to identify the the target
audiences Class, Age and Gender.
• Gender question:What is your gender?
• Age question:What is yourAge?
• Class question (worded to be politically correct): In the past 6 months, which
of the following superstores have you shopped at?

7. Psychographic questions
• These questions are used to get into the mind of the audience. We used this
evidence to decided what genre we wanted to portray and how to fully
submerse the audience. These were key questions because we needed to
know what got the adrenaline rushing for the audience. As the audience
frightened reaction is the key goal for anyone making a horror movie.
• Identifying Phobias Question:What are you afraid of?
• Personality Question: How would you describe yourself?

10. Film questions
• Finally film questions in order to identify how reliable our information is. For
example, are they keen movie watchers? And also to clarify what the
audience want to see. This was extremely helpful in deciding what genre to
use.
• Genre Question?:Which genre would scare you the most?
• Frequency Question?: In the past 30 days, how many horror movies have
you watched?

13. Conclusion
• In conclusion, the research has shown that our target
demographic is aged between 18-24, is of middle class and is
primarily male with a secondary female audience.
• From the research we can concluded that there is a broad
range of personalities that are interested in horror and that
over 35% of the research group shows that human figures are
the scariest. For example Clowns or Zombies.
• Finally we can tell that our audience is well informed as 70%
had watched one or more horror movie in the past 30 days.
Also the genre that was voted scariest was zombie and this
bit of information had a key impact on our choice of genre, as
we chose zombie like the research suggested
