2. As a group to decide our target audience we distributed 20 questionnaires around as
we would receive a fast response. We used open and closed questions which helped
us to create our final product.
In our questionnaire we did not include a question if the audience prefer mainstream
or independent films. Throughout the process we decided we wanted to make a
mainstream film as our target audience is young so they would prefer that more.
Audience Research
3. According to the results, we
mainly asked 16-17 years old
which gave us an idea that our
target audience should be from
15 and upwards. This helped us
to create our opening sequence
with conventions based on that
age range. We decided to
classify our film a 15+ as we
thought we can get a wider
audience which means the film
will be more successful.
We asked people what their
favourite sub-genre is and we got
the most popular answer as
psychological. We decided to
stick with this and make our
opening a psychological thriller.
This helped us to see what our
target audience (15 and
upwards) are interested in, so we
can make a opening with that
sub-genre that is interesting.
4. Target Audience All these
movies have a
similar target
audience to
ours and they
are
physiological
thrillers
Our opening may attract
more females than males
as psychological thrillers
focus on more emotional
struggles.
Ages 15-25
