2. What research/planning did I
do?
Secondary Market Research
When doing research for my product I did secondary
market research. To do this I looked at existing
products in my genre such as The Promise and The
best of me. I looked at their audience profiles with
statistics such as 70% of the audience were female.
From this i was able to do create my audience
profile. My audience profile contained things such as
gender, age and socio economic class. By figuring
out my audience profile I was able to know exactly
who I was targeting my product to. This would
influence things such as my location, actress, music
etc. It would also effect the post production with
advertising and marketing as that could also be
geared towards my target market.
3. What research/planning did I
do?
Primary Market Research
Next I took my audience profile and did primary market research by
asking people who fit my profile, 10 questions about a film trailer in the
same genre as my film. By doing this I am able to find out exactly what
my target audience like and what they don't like. I will then be able to take
those aspects into consideration and apply them to my film.
4. What research/planning did I
do?
My Target Audience
Through doing market research, I have established my primary target
audience which will be females age 15-24 with the social class AB.
However my film will have a secondary target audience as it is a
mainstream product. The secondary target audience will be a wider age
bracket as comparing it to 'The Notebook', their were people viewing it up
to the age of 60+. It will also appeal to the male audience who are likely to
go and see the film with their partners. Therefore my film will focus on
appealing to the main primary audience but also do things to appeal to the
secondary audience to help it become a mainstream product.
