2. Process
• To begin the process of making
my game I first began work on
the sprites in which I first got a
top down image of a sparrow
hawk to use as a base for the
pixel design.
• Next, I drew out a pixel out line
over the reference image until I
had a fully completed image
with the pencil tool.
• Then I colored in the pixel
image the color scheme I had
map out during my planning
with the paint bucket tool.
3. Process
• Next, I moved onto drawing the
weaponry for the sparrow hawk such
as a machine gun gauss cannon and
spartan laser with the pencil tool.
• Then after I had finished the
weapons, I moved onto doing the
thruster animation in which I found a
gif of an 8-bit flame and broke it
down into each component and
recolored the orange blue then
mirrored the image for each side of
the sparrow hawk thrusters.
• After that I brought back the sparrow
hawk template and placed it over the
flames the create the illusion of the
sparrow hawk's engine giving of
flames
4. Process
• Next, I began work on the
banshee enemy's in which I first
found a reference image for my
pixel art.
• Then after wards I drew a simple
pixel art drawing of the banshee
over the reference image until I
had the finished product with
the pencil tool.
• Then I coloured the pixel image
in the colour scheme o had
chosen for the covenant back in
my planning with the paint
bucket tool
5. Process
• After finishing the banshee design I
went over to drawing up the back
ground for my game by first using
the paint bucket tool to paint the
background dark blue.
• After finishing up on one part of the
back ground I went back and started
doing the sprite work for the hornet
by finding a reference image then
using the pencil tool and shape tool
to draw the pixel art of the hornet
out.
• After finishing the hornet design I
went back to the back ground
design and added glassing marks,
clouds and stars with the use of the
shape tool and pencil tool.
6. Process
• To add detail to my game I
wanted that every time the player
or enemy's is defeated that an
explosion occurs after wards in
which I found a gif of an 8-bit
explosion online then separated
the gif into it’s separate
components for an edit will do to
make the players and the enemy's
explosion different.
• To make the covenant explosion
gif I went to each images hue and
saturation and turned the hue
down to -80 to make the
explosions look purple.
• Next, I began work on the pixel
art of the sereph which I first
found a reference image.
7. Process
• Next, I drew a basic line image
over the reference image
using the pencil tool.
• I then colored the line image
in with the paint bucket tool.
• Then I went over to halo 5
guardian and begin recording
sound effects for my game in
which I first started with the
machine gun turret.
8. Process
• Then I recorded sound effects
for the gauss cannon.
• After that I recorded the
spartan laser sound effect.
• Then finally for the banshee
shot sound effects I recorded a
plasma turret firing.
9. Process
• Next, I moved onto the title screen
intro for my game in which I first took
part of the background I did and took
it over to a new file and then did a
title through the use of the text tool
and changed the font to halo to fit
with the theme of the game then
used 126 frame to create a smooth
animation of the title coming down.
• I then took my small animation over
to adobe animate and did the rest of
the animation I wanted to do on
there to save time like a team of
banshees and hornets flying by with
the use of motion tween.
• I then exported the animation over
to adobe premiere and added over It
a music track to make it feel like
most titles screens games have.
10. Process
• After that I went back to
photoshop to draw a portrait
of captain cutter in my game
who will give the player their
mission in the level in which I
first found a reference image.
• I then drew the basic
outlines for the portrait.
• After finishing the line work,
I colored in the empty spaces
with the paint bucket tool.
11. Process
• I then began work on the rest of the
animation for my game in which I
took every piece of sprite work I had
done son far and exported them over
to animate.
• In which I first began by doing the
intro to the game play in which the
player character is on screen and
given their objective and any other
bit of information in which I created a
consistent moving background by
looping the same animation
• During this time I also went back to
photoshop and did an ordinance pod
for the power ups in which I used the
shape tool to draw two circles and
one rectangle.
12. Process
• I then cut the circles in half and put
them on the top and bottom of the
rectangle then merged the shapes
together to create the supply pod.
• Then I went back to my animation
and looped he animations up to my
time limit of three minuets.
• After that I first did the animation
for the player character in which I
motion tween each image to be
able to move up and down left and
right switching between levels and
back and taking damage.
13. Process
• After that I created a animation of
the players gun bullets flying
across the screen and hitting an
enemy banshee then it blowing up
and I then copied this animation
loop and reused it forty times.
• At the same time, every time a
banshee was destroyed a counter
a set up would keep count of how
many banshees have been
destroyed by the player.
• After I did an animation of a
supply pod dropping down and
being collected by the player in
which the player model will
change.
14. Process
• Once I was finished with part one,
I then exported it as an mp4 file. In
which I repeated the same process
for part 2 and so far, I think my
project is going well considering
some walls that have been
encountered throughout.
• Then I went back to premiere and
found the video with the weapon
sound effects in it and imported it
into adobe premiere.
• Then I exported over the
animations I did from adobe flash
and exported them over to
premier to begin the final stage of
my video game project
15. Process
• To start production of my video I first
began by taking the three animation
I did and placed them in
chronological movies from the intro
then part 1 then part 2 in which
afterwards I then imported the
musical themes for the intro the
gameplay and victory.
• After the I implemented the music, I
began by adding the sound effects
for the player character such as 8-bit
sound of a machine gun firing the
player acquiring a power up and the
player getting hit.
• Finally I added in the 8-bit explosion
sound effects to go with the
animation of the banshees blowing
up after getting hit then after
exsporting it as an mp4 file
