2. Research For my research it was mainly aimed around the audience section as we could not research
into something which we don’t have any idea about, the main strength about my research
would have to be the 1st page of my research because I went into detail finding out what kind
of audience they have which gave me a good idea of what I could make which would stand
out for them, this is the one thing which stands out about my research in my opinion because
it shows that I have taken the time to look through things which are very specific for example
what percentage of the village use online shopping compared to going out to get them. From
this I got that the audience is 40+ which gives me an indication on what type of content I was
to make over the weeks, as with it being the elder generation I had to tend to their needs.
This really helped my product as I had to make sure that the work which I was creating
worked well with both my client and their audience as they have the things which they want
to portray their business as. Although I think that I have a few positives there are definitely
things which I am disappointed in the main one being that I didn’t do a lot of work for the
research because I only did 3 slides which was no where near enough at the standard that I
wanted and I think that I did this because I didn’t know a lot about the store and couldn’t find
much online as in my own opinion I don’t think that it is very well known shop because it is In
a fairly small village. I think that the lack of research on my behalf has affected my work in a
lesser standard as if I had more information on the subject matter I think I could have done
things differently and more in-depth as at the moment they are good but could be improved
in the future, one thing I think that I would improve in the research would be to go through it
again and add things which make sense for example talking about the business it self and also
their history in bakery industry.

3. Planning • During my planning section of my client work a strength which I came
across would have to be the mind map as although it is fairly scarce you
can see what I am trying to get at, for example when it came to the
menu/poster as I was able to link them together and get straight to the
point and also talk about the possible themes and ideas which I could use
for my final piece of work, another strength which I have when it comes to
my planning would have to be the developed ideas because I went
through loads of different styles of font and colour schemes looking at
each part of it and narrowing it down to a couple of them at the end
where I then chose the two which I wanted to use for the majority of my
work, also by developing my ideas I found out what was possible and what
was not possible, such as the store front which to begin with I thought I
would be able to do it quite easily but when I got around to it I found out
that It was very difficult and I decided to drop the idea of making it. This
helped my product because it gave me the correct colour and text which I
have used throughout the entire product and also if hadn't done this I
would have made the mistake of using loads of different fonts which they
had previously done. With my planning I still have some weaknesses the
one which stands out to me would have to the 1st developed idea because
I decided to go in detail on something which I would scrap in the future
and I think if it gone down a different path I would have come out with
more detailed and well done pieces of work and I wouldn’t have wasted
my time on it, so in the future in my FMP I will have to make sure that I
plan things that I actually want to do instead of a filler.

4. Time Management
Overall I don’t think that I managed my time very well because I didn’t really do the
things which I was planning on doing on the specific day/week, I think that this
happened would have to be because I get bored of doing the same thing all the time
so I like to switch it through the week, so on the second week instead of doing the
poster I continued on with my menu as I hadn't finished them yet. Although I have
finished my project on time I think if I had managed my time better I would have
been able to make more things for my customer, but it is my own doing. If I had either
managed my time better or given additional time I think that I would have made a
more detailed poster and also I could have gone into the clothing department in more
depth as I think that this I something which they could be helped with, Even though I
didn’t really manage my time well there is one section which I managed well which
would have to be the 1st week because I did what I planned out to do, which was the
only time I did that over the weeks, also something else which I think went really
wrong would have to be that I had planned on redesigning the front of the shop
which I didn’t end up doing as I found out that I was quite difficult to do, which I think
is my own fault as I didn’t do a lot of experimenting for it which has had a huge
impact on my time management because I didn’t really know what to do on those so I
just looked around and found things which I thought that my customer would need
for their business. Eventually on that 2nd to last week I managed to get everything
done and I used that final week of production to start my evaluation as I didn’t need
to make anything else as I had completely finished my work.
I had a similar problem in my last
project as I keep thinking I will make
something but then I end up not
doing it and having to think of
something to make in the time which
I have got. Because I don’t do
enough experimenting with what I
am wanting to do, so for my FMP I
will have to make sure that I do
experiments with everything I want
to make so that I don’t get stuck.

5. Technical Qualities
A similarity which I can see between
these two different menus would
have to be the imprint looking text
in mine and the logo in the titanic
menu, even though these are similar
the technical aspect is very different
because I can use a computer to
make it look 3d where as the time
which this was created they didn’t
have computers which means that
they had to make everything by
hand, which means hopefully mine
should be better which in my own
opinion I think that mine is. I feel like
the technical side of the design is
more interesting in this day and age
in comparison to the other one. Also
I think that both of these pieces of
work have things which could have
been improved with mine it would
be to make more legible and with
the existing product would be the
layout.
A difference which I can see between the
two is the different layouts, for example
with mine it has been made to be plain
and simple so that it is easily legible,
where as the titanic menu has a layout
which is very strange because it has been
spread out. And also they have not
labeled the food which they are talking
about, which doesn’t help people if they
do not know what they are talking about.
One thing which I really liked about this
menu would be the look of it because it is
really nice and old fashion as of the era,
the main thing would have to be the
colour of the background and the grunge
look.
Another difference which is can see when it comes to technical aspects would have to
be how each of them where made because mine was made using a software called
Photoshop where as more than likely they have to use a typewrite which means
everything had to be right otherwise they would have to completely redo the whole
thing for a simple mistake which they made. Also due to the way in which they are
made the quality is much different and there is no possible way to make the old one
looking like mine. Also as well I think that one thing that the older one has over mine is
that it looks a lot more realistic in comparison to mine which I was trying to aim for.

6. Aesthetic Qualities
I think that overall my work came out very
good, the reason that I like the work would be
because of the background as I think that it
works really well and looks amazing, it was
made through the filter gallery because it
gives the option to make it look really old and
worn down which was the look which I was
trying to get at. I think that my pieces of work
which I have made over the past 4 weeks are
creative as I have made them from scratch
and I haven't really had that much inspiration
when it comes to menus, and also I believe
that it is aesthetically pleasing because
everything which I have made links together
for example when it comes to the logo ideas
as they are all relevant to the genre of work
which I am aiming for, with the colours or
design because the first design I made was
leaf. Will the example on the right I think that
my work is more vibrant than the professional
piece but at the same time the layout is no
where near as good as it. Something which I
don’t like about this design would have to be
the bottom left corner with the logo because
it looks out of place because it is so bold and
abrupt, and I think this will be easily improved
by either changing the logo to another one or
by completing getting rid of the design in its
entirety because I really don’t like it anymore.
I think that with the piece of work it is
different from what my main posters
and menus look like because I was given
the idea of making stamps for them
which they could use of clothing and
bags, which I am thankful for. With the
aesthetics of this I like it because it is
very simplistic and I decided to use
black as the main color because it shows
power and also is a very strong colour.
Also to get the look of a stamp I had to
use to use someone else Photoshop file
which was free that gave you the ability
to make the stamp look realistic. The
one problem I have with this design
would have to be the lack of colour
because although black is nice I think I
need to add some vibrancy to it
otherwise it will seem quite dull.
This is the other variation of one of the paper
bags which I designed, I wanted to make sure
that the design was simplistic because it
needed to be easily legible, I like this design
because it is very modern in comparison to
their original logo, but although I like it I think
I could improve the font because they don’t
really work with the rest of my work because
I have used too many fonts.

7. Audience Appeal
I think that my work somewhat
appeals to my audience because I
have made sure that it is easy legible
which was the main factor of my
work which I needed to keep an eye
on because of the elder generation,
also with the font I have chosen to
use black because it stands out on
top of the green background.
Although I think that my work is
appealing at the same time I think it
could use some work because the
only piece of it which is bad would
be the text inside the box because
from a long distance away it is really
difficult to read which would be a
major problem for the older
generation. And an easy fix would be
change the font or increase the size
of the text, also I don’t think that the
older generation are really bothered
by the design they just want
something which gets straight to the
point.
With these two pieces of work I think
that they appeal to my audience
because it is plain and simple, straight
to the point and easily legible, which
is the key factor for the elder
generation as I have said for my other
work. For the bag I think it will work
well for my audience because it will
be a design which will be
remembered as it is quite urban and
stands out, the older generation
would want something to stand out
so they actually know what they are
looking for. The design for the stamp
is a lot different from my bag because
it has a lot less detail which I wanted
because I think that this will be the
one which people who would more
commonly know in comparison.
Something which I tried to do at the
same time as making work for my
audience I tried to break the barrier
by looking towards the younger
generation by making things which
appeal to them for example the
colours and the more hipster designs
with the logos.
Overall I think that I have worked to my audience which was
something that the bakery wanted to make sure happened
because it is their shop and they decided what happens and
what doesn't, so making things to their parameters would
work in both my favor and theirs. My favorite piece of work
which I have made over the past 4 weeks would have to be
the menu as it is the most out there and doesn’t blend in.
