3. Research
• The strengths for the research are that I find that the research and planning are the most important at of
all of it as that’s where you get all your ideas and where it all starts so when it comes to actually doing
your product. Another reason why I find it the research important is because I feel that it helps you out
not just to put your ideas out there but also researching similar products that already exist. For example
when I was looking at magazines on the internet you get to see what magazine companies have in
common, like having similar sub headings and the models/celebrities faces in the centre and their names
being in bright bold colours. So by me seeing that I took them ideas as they are good ones which are on
very popular magazine brands which many people buy from I would like to include that to my one. I also
find the mood boards very helpful because that’s where you really start to see what you’re wanting to do,
for example I knew I wanted to do something minimalistic so I put into google minimalistic fashion
magazine and I saw the theme they had which was a clean look, there wasn’t a lot of text it had a title and
then the model on the front a bit of text saying what is inside then magazine or there would be no text at
all. The research helped me a lot because of all the research we had to finishing existing products I liked
and would like to include for my product. Another strength for research is that I got a chance to ask
people similar age to me about what they think about fashion as I could add that information into my
magazine. Which is including my target audience which will then attract my audience when it comes to
people buying it.
• The weaknesses for the research are that because I was picking a minimalistic theme they were all the
same for all of them so I tried to think of new things to do for mine as I wanted mine to be unique.
• What could have gone better is maybe I could of got more images for my mood board as there’s not a lot
there to show what I’m wanting to do for my final project. However I did that because I felt that because
I’m doing a minimal magazine and most of the magazine are the same I didn’t want to jeep getting the
same image over and over again.
• The effect that this could have on my product is maybe more ideas to adapt from to make it look better.
Also could bring more ideas to again make my magazine better or add more to it than where it is now.

4. Planning
• The strengths for planning is again like the research it’s very important because its were you put all your
ideas down in the same place for example like mind maps I made one with 3 ideas for what magazine I
would like to do then made another one of the one I chose to actually do which was fashion in my case.
This s where I could put all my ideas that I thought of and plus the research I also looked at to include in
my work. Another thing that helped me a lot with planning is that you decide who will be your audience
who it is targeting which makes you think of that part which is important as that’s where all your ideas
need to go to is the age group you have picked, which for me was a similar age to me so between 15-25 as
they are still young and all wear similar items of clothing.
• The weaknesses for planning is if you have an idea while doing something else and you decide you are
going to wrote it down after you have completed that last part you may forget what it was. So the best
thing to do when that happens is finish the sentence you are writing at that moment and go to where you
wrote all your ideas down and then after you have added to it you can then go back to what you were
doing before without forgetting.
• What I could of done better for this planning is not writing enough down about your ideas so when you go
back to remind yourself if them ideas and haven't written enough about them you might nit know what to
do for them so will have to change your plan a little which might mess up your work and put you back a
little so I suggest when writing all your ideas down I would write as much as I could to make sure that
wouldn’t happen as you want your work to be the best it can.
• The effect this could have on my product is that it could sloe me down as I'm either forgetting things and
having to change my plan at the last minute when doing my product, which is annoying when your plan
doesn’t work because the your entire product goes wrong as you haven't planned it the right way.
However I do feel that it looks good I like the way it looks and is different to the other magazine I have
seen that already exists.

5. Time Management
• I think I have managed my time good because I have completed my production at the time
you were purpose to the standards I wanted it to look like so I'm happy about that. I feel
when I was doing my PowerPoint work I feel I could of done better if managed my time a lot
better I feel that I didn’t work as fast so I had to keep going to back to them to finish them
whist doing other things which was annoying as I just wanted to focus on one thing however
they are done but need to go back through to add more detail to them to get the grade I’m
wanting which will hopefully wont take too long. I’m a little worried about that because I
want to do as well as I can and I struggle with adding enough detail but I'm working on that
so I can do better in it when I have to do it again. I feel like I have gotten better since doing
work in the past but still nit to the standard I would like it to be but I am working on it and I
feel when I'm going back to my work to add more I will see what I will need to do to get the
grade I want to then do it for next time.
• I would say I have finished the work in time but like I said I will have to go back to add more
detail to some parts but I hope that wont take to loo long as I would like it to be when it
needs to be. I wish we had a little more time as I feel like I'm having to rush this PowerPoint a
little as I would like to have more time to correct parts and make them better but I still think
I'm on time with everything. I don’t think having more time for my product would be needed
but more for the writing work as I feel that its all equally important.
• I do feel that my work would be better if I had more time but that is partly my fault for taking
my time on the first 3 PowerPoints so I wish I could go back to do them quicker so I actually
might have had more time to add details but I feel that I will be able to do it now with a week
left.

6. Technical Qualities
(front cover)
My work compared to this existing magazine I have added from google which I personally think it looks the similar to
mine by the layout it has got.
So the similarities that mine has compared to the Female magazine e is we both have a bold title and its easy to read
doesn’t have a curly, fancy font on it making it easy to read which is good when it’s a new brand we want people to be
able to read the magazine and remember it. Another similarity is the words ‘JOY’ which is big and bold on top of the
model its almost standing out more than the title of the magazine which attracts people eyes its in the middle of the page
like mine is which is making it stand put the most unlike the title but the title is still there and noticeable. the next
similarity is the sub-headings are again similar as there isn't a lot of them making the focus on the model which is what
I'm wanting to do too as its about fashion so I want the focus on the models clothing. The last similarity that I can see is
the model where she's stood and how close she is which is very similar to mine. My model is standing on the opposite
where the existing on is facing the other way but they are both very similar with the distance from the camera, you can
only see the top half of the model.
The differences with the existing magazine and my magazine is the background the existing one has more of a colour one
can see that the model is a room and they have made it blurry so she stands out. Where with mine, mines just a plain
background which could be boring to a few people so they might refer the existing model but I still feel that mines look
good as other magazines that exist sometimes have a plain background so mine is similar to other magazine but not this
one impartially but everything else is similar. Another difference that I can notice is the colour schemes mines very muted
tones then added colour in the words where the existing magazine has colour in the background and in the clothing the
model is wearing. The last difference is that mine has a pattern at the top of the page on the left to add more to the
background how its plain.

7. Technical Qualities
(double page spread, sketches)
The similarities for my magazine and the existing magazine isn't a lot but the layout is similar, the similarities
is the layout on the right side of the existing product. As you can see with mine there's pictures of my sketches
I drew then there's writing underneath them all which is similar to the existing one but instead of them being
sketches they are actual images of the model but it was the closes one I could find that was relatable to my
magazine.
The differences are quite noticeable for example mine doesn’t have an image on the left side of the page and the
existing one doesn’t have sketches its actual pictures of the model. However it was the closest image I could find that
was similar to mine but there are more differences which is fine it just proves that mine is unique which is what I was
going for as I like things to be different so more people can be interested than seeing the same things over and over
again.

8. Technical Qualities
(double page spread, clothing)
The similarities are that its all images the existing one obvious has less than mine but it’s the closest I could
bet I think they're similar in the way how the left side are in columns in a way like mine is but I have more
images in each one, and then on the other side I have that one big picture but I’ve done mine in a polaroid
way as I felt it made it look a little more exciting than just having an image on its own.
The differences with mine and the existing one is that mine has a lot more images and close ups of some
clothing where the existing one only have 3 images on the left and they're full body shots and like I said the
picture on the right is just placed there where mine was made into a polaroid plus the existing one has some
text on the bottom where mine has no writing on it at all except the bit where it says ‘FASHION’ under the big
image on the left which is obvious that its fashion but I thought it looks cool as people take pictures on a
polaroid camera and then write on it for a memory which I think is a cool idea so I added that to my work.

9. Aesthetic Qualities
I personally think my magazine looks good I think its my best one yet I feel like it different the way I have done the layout. I like how
its easy to read and there isn't a lot going on as it will be difficult to see everything on the page and just wouldn’t look professional. I
feel that its creative in a way because it might look similar to the magazine I found on the internet which you would of saw on the
slide before this one but it still has different features from other magazines I have seen on google that I liked and would like to
include to my magazine in my way so its different. As with my double page spreads I think they look good too as they are different
to other magazines I have seen for example one of the pages I have created a picture gallery kind of like an art gallery but pictures of
my model wearing the clothing of the clothes I made which you will see in the next double page spread which is a whole page
talking about the sketches a drew.
What I would improve on for this magazine is maybe making the background more exciting I feel that it looks boring I wish bi had
the model in a nice room which I could of blurred to still make the model stand out but still have the background look interesting
than it is now. What I would also improve on but with my double page spreads is maybe making sure my sketches look noticeable
maybe should of made the boxes bigger so its easier to see the sketches better than they are now, and with the gallery of pictures
of the model wearing all the clothes I would make sure all the pictures fit in the page like on the right side of the page I feel that
they are kind of squished together so would try and spread them out so you can see each image clear.
Bold writing, easy read which is important
for people to read when it’s a new brand so
they remember it.
Sun-headings to add inspiration to women
to be confident with themselves and what
they wear as my magazine is about fashion
nowadays and people expressing
themselves by what they wear. As fashion
has changed a lot and people feel good in
what they wear which is important for body
confidents.
‘AMY FOSTER’ which is the name of my
mode who is wearing clothing that she feels
confident in and is proud to wear whatever
she wants so I wanted Amy to be in my
magazine as she feels good in what she
wears. Also her name is in bold like the title
so they are both important parts to a
magazine.
The background is simple looking so I
added a pattern to the corner I do
wish I added a nicer background and
just blurred it but I still feel it looks
good as it makes the models clothing
stand out as that is what my magazine
is about.
The model is close to the camera
but can still see her top half for
the clothing its not very stylish as
its just a grey top but I didn’t
want to go crazy for the cover as
the different styles of clothing are
inside the magazine making
people want to look inside.

10. Aesthetic Qualities
(double page spread, sketches)
‘SKETCHES’ is in a handwritten style to
fit the theme of the page which is
sketches as sketches are drawn by
hand I thought making the title look
handwritten will go well.
I have placed them in columns
as that is what magazines are
set up as plus I fee that it was
easier to set it up this way
anyway because it made it
easier to talk about each sketch
and have the sketch t the top to
show what I mean.
This is where I wrote about
each sketch in detail. I
actually wrote about each
sketch before drawing them
so I could add more detail has
I wasn’t sure how id draw the
sketches so it made it easier
for me. i feel that it looks
really good and the type of
magazine I would buy.
I added this sketch as well to fit the
theme as I didn’t know what else to
write for this specific sketch which is
above this model so I thought id add it
to make it look prettier and it just
made sense as this page is all about
sketches.
At first this page was just the title
but I decide that I’d add more of the
sketches as I has 2 more to add and
there wasn’t any point making
another page for 2 more so I
thought t6o make it look more like a
magazine I moved the title up and
added more about these 2 sketches.

model to wear which
you will see in the next
slide.

11. Aesthetic Qualities
(double page spread, clothing)
One big picture of my model which is the picture I liked out of all of
them and was actually going to put on my front cover but then
realised that every magazine I looked at the models were looking
straight at the camera so that’s why I picked the other one.
However I really liked this picture so I wanted to have it on its own
and made it into a polaroid as you can see.
These are the 3 columns of the
same model but with different
clothing some are the same in
different columns and some have
close ups of the clothing items
which I feel make it look more
interesting than having the same
pose and style for each picture.
‘Fashion’ is again like the other text
throughout this magazine they are
handwritten styles I feel they really
look good and just makes the magazine
unique instead of having a font like this
all through the magazine it will just
getting boring and no one will enjoy
the magazine.
Also cant really see but the background is a mint green colour and
then the boarders around the pictures are white which I liked as
each page is different like in the last slide the background was blue. I
did this because I wanted my magazine to be a pastel colour but the
front cover I didn’t do that as I want like it look of it but I still wanted
to add a bit of colour so I made sure the inside of the magazine has
colour to them which you can see.

12. Audience Appeal

I personally think it has appealed to my target audience because my model is the age I have chosen to target which is 15-24 and my model is 17 and I
feel people fashion obviously changes but I feel that the fashion is currently very popular at the moment for this age group. I also feel that the way I
have designed each page which you can see it’s a muted colour for the background and then has some bright colours for some of the words to make it
pop than it all being black and if I don’t feel interested in it then others wont as I’m in that age group. Its tricky to make everyone like my magazine
because even though I'm in the age group I have picked to target, everyone is still different and like different things so I didn’t want top do anything too
dramatic as people wont like it.
The specific content that my target audience will appeal to is the model on the front, they will see a younger girl on there and will be interested in that
as most magazine have older women on there so girls my age don’t relate to it even though they are trying to target that age group so by having a girl
that is their age then they can relate more which is the main purpose here to let girls feel good about themselves.
I did a questionnaire to ask girls what they think about fashion nowadays and what they like to do when it comes to buying clothes. I did this with
similar ages to me some the same and older for girls to relate to easier. With the questionnaire I included what my target audience wanted to see or
what they like to wear in my magazine which is why I wanted to add sketches of what it would be like if I made them from scratch and then my model
wearing the clothing that they love to wear which you can see in my products on the left.

• What did you like about the product?
– I like how it has someone similar to the age group you have picked as it shows a female wearing the
clothes that someone of us might like.
– I like the colour scheme you have picked as they are all different so it makes it look nicer than just
having one colour throughout it all which might get a little boring.
– I like the idea of the sketches I don’t ever see that in magazines you always just see the clothing on
people so I liked how that was different.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– I liked the pattern on the front cover but it looks a little bland everywhere else.
– Maybe added more text on the side of the magazine as it looks a little bland.

– I like how all the pictures follow a theme with colour and
style, and like the use of bright yellow on the front cover
with the contrast with the black writing which makes it eye
catching.

– I prefer if the sketches could be bigger

17. • What did you like about the product?
– Cover- I like the font choice for the magazines logo as it looks like a font that would be used on a real
magazine cover. I like that the cover is quite simple and doesn’t have too much text crammed all
together. The fonts are a good size as they are not too big nor too small. I think you used a good
choice for the colours for the text on the cover as it is easy to read and stands out and by using the
same 2 colours this means that you don’t get messed up. The image on the cover is good as it is very
clear.
– Double page spread 1- I think that the sketches are good
– Double page spread 2- There is a good selection of different photos. Also there is a wide range of
different clothes used in the photos which is good for a fashion magazine.
• What improvements could have been made to the product?
– Cover- I think the cover is fine

– Double page spread 2- there could maybe be a bit more text used on the second page for example
saying under each image the clothing wore or something about that photo.

Front Cover
I like the way the head is positioned over the name of the magazine
I also like the colour of the words are the same across the cover. It is very professional

19. • What did you like about the product?
– On the title page, everything has it’s purpose and pairs together. There’s nothing
that looks out of place and the colour scheme works very well with the background
colours, creating a nice look that’s easy on the eyes. On the sketches page the font
is easily read and works well at blending in rather than being the only thing that
stands out. The title also catches your eye first and uses a font which shows what’s
happening on the page perfectly. All three pages have enough similarities to show
that they’re all part of the same magazine, yet enough differences to make each
one show something unique.
• What improvements could have been made to
the product?
– The main thing is to add more pages to solidify a high grade and make sure you get
it. As well as this, perhaps add more photos somewhere on sketches so it is not as
dominated by words. Finally, the white boxes seem out of place on the blue
background.

• What do you agree with from your peer feedback?
• What I agree with the feedback is that the sketches are small and I could make them
bigger so its clearer to see and I do have the space for it.
• I agree with maybe adding more pictures to the sketches page as it is kind of all writing.
However I did more writing on this one as the other double page spread is just pictures
so I thought it would balance it out.
• What do you disagree with from your peer feedback?
• I disagree with my text being small on my second double page spread because I
wouldn’t of been able to add half the stuff I put plus the size I chose is the size that
magazines go for so any bigger wouldn’t look professional.
• I disagree with adding text to the 3rd page of double page spread where its full of
clothing because the whole point of that page was like a gallery of the clothes so I
thought id balance it out with the 2nd page so its not boring.
• ‘the white boxes seem out of place on the blue background’ I personally don’t
agree I feel looks okay as an other colour for the sketches you wouldn’t be able to
see.

the main focus were the sketches and they are there
so I don’t want to add more pictures and take away
