Planning and Pitching – Environment of Presentation
In my pitch, I was in front of my class, to help me I used a
slide changer to change the slides from far away so I could
engage with the audience more. I also used a camera
which was placed in front of me on a tripod placed a head
height so that I can be evaluated on my pitch, I also used
the main mac to load up my prezi PowerPoint, I used this
because it was connected to the projector and my
PowerPoint could be projected bigger so that my class
could see my PowerPoint clearer in order to fill out my
survey monkey effectively.
Evidence of pitch
The evidence of my pitch is provided through screenshots gathered from my video
that was taken by a camera on a tri-pod. In the pitch I had to tell the audience (My
class) everything to do with my magazine and how I am going to make money off of it.
Prezi Presentation
In order to make my pitch look professional I loaded my Microsoft PowerPoint onto
prezi, this meant I could give it a stylish look. Prezi was fairly easy to use and there lots of
different fonts, layouts to use.
Survey Monkey
I used survey monkey as it gave me a
platform in which I could see all my analysis
of my pitch due to my class answering the
questions I provided on the survey. After all
of them responded to my survey then I just
simply go onto the website, log in, then I
simply click on analyze results and it shows
me everything they have all said in order to
make my pitch better the next time I do it.
From here I then changed parts of my pitch
so that the next time I do a pitch and put
out a survey monkey then their wont be as
much negative responses.
Witness Statement
Witness Statement 2
Clients likes and dislikes
• As you can see from the Witness Statement the areas in green are what
the client liked about my pitch and the areas in yellow are what the client
wanted me to improve. Belowis a screenshot from the witness statement
on WWW and what I could do better. I have made these corrections.
Survey Monkey
After I delivered my pitch I sent everyone in my class a link to my survey
monkey in which they all filled out. I asked questions on the survey which will
give good feedback on how I could've improved my pitch.
Survey Monkey
Question 1
For this question, my overall score was 4, this shows that my front cover was good
enough to look professional and aphetically pleasing but just missed out on little
things that would've made the front cover look like an actual normal front cover
that you would see on the shelves of a shop.
Survey Monkey
Question 2
In this question I asked about how I could've
improved my pitch. The most common
answer was to plan so that I could deliver
the slides abit better than I did.
Survey Monkey
Question 3
From these responses I can see that
my main improvement would be to
change the colours of my magazine as
it wasn’t liked by many people.
Survey Monkey
Question 4
From these answers I can see that all of the people that witnessed my
pitch think that the proposals that I done for my magazine were full of
information
Survey Monkey
Question 5
In this question I asked if I covered everything that was featured in the
mark scheme. From my results I can see that most people think I did but
some people think that I haven't.
Survey Monkey
Question 6
The answers shown here come from the
question ‘what should I change about
my front cover?’. As you can see the
most common answer was to change
the colour. However, I like the colour of
the magazine so I wont change it.
Pitch improvements – Putting DPS on
pitch Powerpoint
From this improvement I made a dps and put it on a slide. From there, I then put
it on my pitch PowerPoint and therefore completed the task, I had to do this
because the client was unable to see it from my presentation.
Pitch improvements – Spending Power
As you can see from the witness statement it
told me to show what my audiences spending
power would be. From this I then realised that
my audience are in categories B all the way to E
so their spending power would be very limited
as they would rather be spending their money
on other things to keep them alive and not a
magazine. From this I then changed my target
audience slide and added in in my audiences
spending power.
Photoshop correction
The magazine to the left is what I produced and the magazine to the
right is the corrected one. The cover line KANYE WEST was not in line
and symmetrical with the other cover lines therefore I had to move it
so my magazine looked professional.
Copyright
This is content that is covered by copyright. This is content is protected by law and stops anyone
who will try to copy it. It also can be referred to ‘Intellectual property’ and means it is divided
into two different types; industrial property and copyright. Intellectual property means that if
any photographs or written work you have taken cannot be copied onto your work. There is also
a digital watermark available which will help protect your work from getting copied because
there will be a watermark in the way with your name on and therefore the person who is looking
at the work can see that it is not their work and can see that it is yours because of the
watermarked name. However there are some negatives to this such as when protecting your IP
you will have to pay a certain amount of fees like a seven thousand pounds bill and it can take
over 5 years to get and be able to get used. I will need to watch out of for copyright on my
magazine because the money time and effort I would've put onto taking a really good photo or
finding out information could just be taken from me for free.

Data Protection Act
Data Protection Act
This act is very important to have protected but the data protection act protects any
information that is personal held within the business. The rules of data protection
are that it is used fair and completely, this is extremely important for the company
to be kept in a safe place because someone's life can affect Bauer Media and Q
magazine and all the workers that are included in the business should have their
own privacy within the company. Also, a point that should be made clear to
everyone is health and safety as everyone within the business needs to make sure
that they know how to use all of the equipment correctly so there is less chance of
any harmful acts happening to them. I will make sure I follow the Data Protection
Act so the information in my business is protected I will do this by keeping work in
a safe place. For example. Any details about my staff.

Ipso – Editors code of practice
The editors code of practice are rules set up that newspapers and magazines
regulated by IPSO have agreed to follow. It contains 1-16 categories in which rules
are implied that vary from whether or not the articles accurate to serious stories
such as reporting suicides or children in sex cases. The newspaper needs to
conform these laws in order to get their newspaper published, this means
following the rules when covering a certain genre in your article, such as, if the
newspaper is writing up an article on children in sex cases, which would normally
be covered in The Mirror because they focus on the serious genre. They have to
follow the following rules which are; The child's name should never be identified
however the adult may have their name used in the article and also care must be
taken that nothing in the report implies the relationship between the accused and
the child.
I will need to make sure I follow the ‘Editors Code of Practice’. For example I
must make sure any information I put on display about artists is accurate and
that I am not giving the audience false information about the artist. I also must
make sure I do not misspell any names of the artists in the magazine therefore I
must get the magazine professionally proof read. Furthermore, I must protect
the privacy of the artists and my staff. For example I must not include any false
information about the artist I am interviewing.

The 16 categories in which
are covered in the editors
code of practice
Watermark
If people want to use my photo then they have to
give my magazine credits otherwise they get fined.
In order to stop this from happening you have to
watermark your photos, this means that its
extremely obvious who’s photo it is because it will
have the name of who took the photo spread across
the picture. For example, below this text book I have
made my own watermarked photo for the 808
magazine front cover picture, this means people can
either use this photo with the watermark or pay to
use it with the watermark.

CALENDAR EVENTS
My magazine will be released on January 1st , this is exactly a month
after the jingle bell ball would've happened, this means that I can give a
recap on the festival inside my magazine. It is also the start of the new
year so my first issue could have a section within it where I speak about
all of the different music stories that happened throughout the 12
month year.
FINAL FRONT COVER AND DPS
This is the magazine the client chose as the one to publish in the shops. The magazine has
a consistent colour scheme and follows the codes and conventions of a magazine front
cover and DPS.
Conclusion
In this PowerPoint I went over all the analysis from my pitch, I
covered all of my survey monkey answers etc. I also covered the
production plan and what's going to go ahead in order to make
my magazine the best it can be on release day. Towards the end I
then spoke about the copyright and data protection acts to do
with my magazine.

Unit 13 LO4 AND LO5 - 10th JAN

  • 1.
  • 2. Planning and Pitching – Environment of Presentation In my pitch, I was in front of my class, to help me I used a slide changer to change the slides from far away so I could engage with the audience more. I also used a camera which was placed in front of me on a tripod placed a head height so that I can be evaluated on my pitch, I also used the main mac to load up my prezi PowerPoint, I used this because it was connected to the projector and my PowerPoint could be projected bigger so that my class could see my PowerPoint clearer in order to fill out my survey monkey effectively.
  • 3. Evidence of pitch The evidence of my pitch is provided through screenshots gathered from my video that was taken by a camera on a tri-pod. In the pitch I had to tell the audience (My class) everything to do with my magazine and how I am going to make money off of it.
  • 4. Prezi Presentation In order to make my pitch look professional I loaded my Microsoft PowerPoint onto prezi, this meant I could give it a stylish look. Prezi was fairly easy to use and there lots of different fonts, layouts to use.
  • 5. Survey Monkey I used survey monkey as it gave me a platform in which I could see all my analysis of my pitch due to my class answering the questions I provided on the survey. After all of them responded to my survey then I just simply go onto the website, log in, then I simply click on analyze results and it shows me everything they have all said in order to make my pitch better the next time I do it. From here I then changed parts of my pitch so that the next time I do a pitch and put out a survey monkey then their wont be as much negative responses.

  • 9. Clients likes and dislikes • As you can see from the Witness Statement the areas in green are what the client liked about my pitch and the areas in yellow are what the client wanted me to improve. Belowis a screenshot from the witness statement on WWW and what I could do better. I have made these corrections.
  • 10. Survey Monkey After I delivered my pitch I sent everyone in my class a link to my survey monkey in which they all filled out. I asked questions on the survey which will give good feedback on how I could've improved my pitch.
  • 11. Survey Monkey Question 1 For this question, my overall score was 4, this shows that my front cover was good enough to look professional and aphetically pleasing but just missed out on little things that would've made the front cover look like an actual normal front cover that you would see on the shelves of a shop.
  • 12. Survey Monkey Question 2 In this question I asked about how I could've improved my pitch. The most common answer was to plan so that I could deliver the slides abit better than I did.
  • 13. Survey Monkey Question 3 From these responses I can see that my main improvement would be to change the colours of my magazine as it wasn’t liked by many people.
  • 14. Survey Monkey Question 4 From these answers I can see that all of the people that witnessed my pitch think that the proposals that I done for my magazine were full of information
  • 15. Survey Monkey Question 5 In this question I asked if I covered everything that was featured in the mark scheme. From my results I can see that most people think I did but some people think that I haven't.
  • 16. Survey Monkey Question 6 The answers shown here come from the question ‘what should I change about my front cover?’. As you can see the most common answer was to change the colour. However, I like the colour of the magazine so I wont change it.
  • 17. Pitch improvements – Putting DPS on pitch Powerpoint From this improvement I made a dps and put it on a slide. From there, I then put it on my pitch PowerPoint and therefore completed the task, I had to do this because the client was unable to see it from my presentation.
  • 18. Pitch improvements – Spending Power As you can see from the witness statement it told me to show what my audiences spending power would be. From this I then realised that my audience are in categories B all the way to E so their spending power would be very limited as they would rather be spending their money on other things to keep them alive and not a magazine. From this I then changed my target audience slide and added in in my audiences spending power.
  • 19. Photoshop correction The magazine to the left is what I produced and the magazine to the right is the corrected one. The cover line KANYE WEST was not in line and symmetrical with the other cover lines therefore I had to move it so my magazine looked professional.
  • 20. Copyright This is content that is covered by copyright. This is content is protected by law and stops anyone who will try to copy it. It also can be referred to ‘Intellectual property’ and means it is divided into two different types; industrial property and copyright. Intellectual property means that if any photographs or written work you have taken cannot be copied onto your work. There is also a digital watermark available which will help protect your work from getting copied because there will be a watermark in the way with your name on and therefore the person who is looking at the work can see that it is not their work and can see that it is yours because of the watermarked name. However there are some negatives to this such as when protecting your IP you will have to pay a certain amount of fees like a seven thousand pounds bill and it can take over 5 years to get and be able to get used. I will need to watch out of for copyright on my magazine because the money time and effort I would've put onto taking a really good photo or finding out information could just be taken from me for free. http://www.nahc.org/advocacy-policy/regulatory-issues/
  • 21. Data Protection Act Data Protection Act This act is very important to have protected but the data protection act protects any information that is personal held within the business. The rules of data protection are that it is used fair and completely, this is extremely important for the company to be kept in a safe place because someone's life can affect Bauer Media and Q magazine and all the workers that are included in the business should have their own privacy within the company. Also, a point that should be made clear to everyone is health and safety as everyone within the business needs to make sure that they know how to use all of the equipment correctly so there is less chance of any harmful acts happening to them. I will make sure I follow the Data Protection Act so the information in my business is protected I will do this by keeping work in a safe place. For example. Any details about my staff. http://www.bbc.co.uk/schools/gcsebitesize/ict/legal/0dataprot ectionactrev1.shtml
  • 22. Ipso – Editors code of practice The editors code of practice are rules set up that newspapers and magazines regulated by IPSO have agreed to follow. It contains 1-16 categories in which rules are implied that vary from whether or not the articles accurate to serious stories such as reporting suicides or children in sex cases. The newspaper needs to conform these laws in order to get their newspaper published, this means following the rules when covering a certain genre in your article, such as, if the newspaper is writing up an article on children in sex cases, which would normally be covered in The Mirror because they focus on the serious genre. They have to follow the following rules which are; The child's name should never be identified however the adult may have their name used in the article and also care must be taken that nothing in the report implies the relationship between the accused and the child. I will need to make sure I follow the ‘Editors Code of Practice’. For example I must make sure any information I put on display about artists is accurate and that I am not giving the audience false information about the artist. I also must make sure I do not misspell any names of the artists in the magazine therefore I must get the magazine professionally proof read. Furthermore, I must protect the privacy of the artists and my staff. For example I must not include any false information about the artist I am interviewing. https://www.ipso.co.uk/editors-code-of-practice/ The 16 categories in which are covered in the editors code of practice
  • 23. Watermark If people want to use my photo then they have to give my magazine credits otherwise they get fined. In order to stop this from happening you have to watermark your photos, this means that its extremely obvious who’s photo it is because it will have the name of who took the photo spread across the picture. For example, below this text book I have made my own watermarked photo for the 808 magazine front cover picture, this means people can either use this photo with the watermark or pay to use it with the watermark.

  • 28. CALENDAR EVENTS My magazine will be released on January 1st , this is exactly a month after the jingle bell ball would've happened, this means that I can give a recap on the festival inside my magazine. It is also the start of the new year so my first issue could have a section within it where I speak about all of the different music stories that happened throughout the 12 month year.
  • 29. FINAL FRONT COVER AND DPS This is the magazine the client chose as the one to publish in the shops. The magazine has a consistent colour scheme and follows the codes and conventions of a magazine front cover and DPS.
  • 30. Conclusion In this PowerPoint I went over all the analysis from my pitch, I covered all of my survey monkey answers etc. I also covered the production plan and what's going to go ahead in order to make my magazine the best it can be on release day. Towards the end I then spoke about the copyright and data protection acts to do with my magazine.
